The Great Magic Era

In the world of Aureum there are 3 main continents, the vast Verdant, the ancient Antana and the land of gods, Midrass. Since the fall of the ancient elven empire of Lefheim 5000 years ago, the once unified continent of Verdant was now fractured in many nations, all in constant war with one another, where only the strong can carve it's own place amongst the victors, leaving the weak to be forgoten, only to be found as footnotes in the books of history. The Headless Dragon's Struggle.

The only thing Omar remembers from the attack, was looking at the night sky and noticing a object, bright red, fall at an unbelievable speed before impacting on the wall, and then.... A flash of light accompanied by a thunderous sound blast reached him, knocking him out almost instantly.

Unknowingly to him, his distance from the wall was what allowed him to survive.

A couple of minutes later, when he finally regained conciousness, he wake up amidst rubble, having been thrown for dozens of meters before hitting the wall of the dorms. Not knowing how much he had been out cold, and really confused, he looked left and right, but he couldn't see very well due to the darkness and the dust in the air.

Trying to get up, a percing sense of pain came from his torso.

*Gurgh*

*Pant* *pant*

(My chest.... Some ribs broke. Huh? What's that smell, like iron, it's mixed with the dust) thought Omar while patting himself in search of injuries.

(It seems there's no serious wound. Better keep the healing potion for later, i can do this)

*Inhale*

*Exhale*

*Inhale*

*Exhale*

Reclining against the wall, Omar starts to take deep breaths in a rhytmic pattern, slowly mobilizing his mana, using light flow to treat his injuries.

*Groans*

With a muffled groan, a soft whitish glow flowed from under Omar's skin, fixing his ribs and healing his bruises and cuts at a speed noticieable to the naked eye.

(God i hate this, is good i can heal, but the pain, OH GOD THE PAIN!) Getting up the ground Omar complained in his mind.

(That explosion, we're definitely under attack).

(Was it an spell? No! Even i would have senses something so powerfull from a distance).

(Probably some kind of bomb or an artifact. Anyways, are there any survivors, the explosion was powerful enough to make a ragdoll out of me and i was hundreds of meters away, i don't wanna think of what was of those who were closer or on top of the wall) shaking his head, trying to dispel the terrible thoughts from getting a hold of him, Omar moved through the now unfamiliar terrain.

*Swish*

With a wave from his hand, Omar conjured a gust of wind pushing the dust away in order to batter see his surroundings. With a little help of the wind, he finally could make a vague outline of where he was, and what he saw shook him.

Rubble and corpses all strew around the ground, with some people a little farther who seem to have survived but remained unconsious. But one particular body draw Omar's attention.

(Oh, no ... Ali).

Right in front of him, the body of 'a not so lucky soldier' lay on the ground. His whole body was bent backwards as his neck and back were broken upon impact, but it seems to have died of blood loss instead, as a pool of the liquid formed under his corpse.

(Now i know what that weird smell was....) Was all that Omar could think of as he holded in his hand over his mouth, like he was about to throw up.

(It was blood!).

(Ali... Is dead. Just how many also-...)

"H-he...hhe, help" *gasp*

"Help!"

(Who?) Thought Omar as looked for the source.

When he approached and finally saw who it was, he leaved a sigh of relief.

"Claus you survived!"

"Not entirely unscated it seems" replied Claus.

"My left arm is completely broken and i can't hear any sounds from my right ear" while covered in bruises Claus pointed at both his arm and his ear before pointing at a colapsed column over his legs.

"Let me help you" said Omar as he crouched and used both arms to lift the column aside.

*Unngh*

"Now!" Said Omar, and Claus freed his legs.

"Are your legs alright?"

"They are a little numb, but it doesn't seem they're partucularly hurt" replied Claus standing up.

"Your arm, did you take your healing potion?" Asked Omar, about to offer his own.

"Stop, it doesn't work, I've already tried, is too heavily wounded, the bones in it are all broken. Unless is a healing spell it won't work" said Claus shaking his head.

"Let's look for the other survivors then" said Omar as he and Claus looked around.

(With how violent the explosion was, the wall probably has colapsed if it wasn't completely destroyed already) thought Omar as he tried to look in the direction he believed the wall was, but the dust in the air only allowed to see a couple of meters ahead, even with the help of the winds he conjured.

(The dust is too thick, and has yet to disperse, it means that no much time should've passed. If the enemy isn't attacking yet, maybe they're also waiting for it to settle so the can get a better view, if so, it means we still have some time in our hands).

(For know we should gather all the survivors and make our way to the Dragon's heart, without the wall to protect us, we're exposed) with the help of Claus, both quickly made their way to the others, helping those injured to get up and telling them to help before moving to the middle section.

Seeing that most of the survivors were close to the buildings further at the back, far from the walls, Omar deduced that of those on the wall, probably none made out alive. With the majority of the ones still alive having only some broken bones and bruises, with the worst cases of a few who lost a leg or a arm due to some fragment of the wall which hit them during the explosion. At the same time, most of the ones they found dead were severely disfigured and with missing parts of their bodies.

Due to the direness of the situation Omar and the others couldn't give those who died a proper burial, as they were short on time to scape, so the best he could do was to take away their name tags, so that at least their names could be remembered, and their families can recibe clousure.

"Hey, Omar right here! Help me" as Omar was going through some of the colapsed buildings, someone yelled, calling out his name.

"Uh! Julio, you're also alive!" exclaimed Omar in surprise, as he had almost lost all hope to see his friend after looking for some time now.
