Take Me to Church

The door shut behind them with a loud bang. The darkness that surrounded them was instantaneously replaced with blinding light. As Julian's vision adjusted, he could clearly see that this was no normal church. Walking through that door seemed to transport you to another dimension. Instead of a large hall filled with pews there was only a sprawling field covered with flowers, rolling hills off in the distance, and blue skies spotted with clouds. Over the distant singing of birds, seemingly from nowhere, could be heard faint voices. Everyone calm before someone screamed...

"WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?" Julian was on the floor, head between his knees, as he panicked. There was no walls behind them. Only a door with intricate carvings remained on top of the large hill. What was happening? The building they had entered had just disappeared. Why did he glance back? Was this magic? Why the heck should he be surprised about this any more than finding out there was a system in his head? [Mental Fortitude: -5] Oh this was going to get annoying.

At his screams more than a few people glanced his and Geoff's way. Seeing how this screaming idiot distracted the worshipers from the King's deserved honor angered Geoff to the highest degree. Geoff stooped down and picked Julian up by the armpits and turned him to face towards the inside of the valley of flowers, "YOU DO NOT SCREAM IN THE FACE OF OUR GOOD KING! HOW DARE YOU?!"

From this vantage point Julian had a good look at the flower field on the ground. All of the flowers were arranged in a man's face. Lilies covered the field in an almost perfect heart-shaped face. Yellow daffodils took the place of blonde hair. Two glittering ponds created blue eyes, and red roses completed a smug smile, just above his perfect chin. This was the face of the king? And they worshiped him?

F***.

Julian held his mental tongue. As of right now he didn't know much about what these experience points could level up, but he'd played at least some video games to know that it was important. Especially in a place where magic was involved.

Refocusing back on his situation, Julian suddenly realized his threatened position in Geoff's hands. His survival instincts kicked in, literally, sending Geoff tumbling to the ground Julian back in front of him. Geoff's muffled cry of pain was still enough to draw everyone in the vicinity closer to him to help.

Shi - shouldn't have done that, Julian thought.

"A-Are you alright?" Julian asked and Geoff nodded while holding his crotch in one hand and his other gesturing that he was fine. His focus never left what was beneath him.

"What in the world is happening?" a woman stormed over to them, "In the King's Church no less!"

Geoff looked up from his pain for a second, "Hello, Carla. It's exactly what it seems like."

"Oh really? An attack on a superior member of the Staff family?" Carla eyed Julian with a murderous intensity so strong even Geoff felt it.

"WAIT! That's not what I meant! He's just Lab Rat!" Geoff quickly stood up, gesturing Julian to do so as well, "He doesn't know what he's doing."

"Lab Rat? Another one?" now Carla was more suspicious than ever, "Name?"

Julian stuttered under the woman's gaze, "J-Julian Staff."

"Julian, huh?" Carla turned her attention back to Geoff, "Make sure he doesn't get into any more trouble." Turning towards the center of the church, she bowed slightly before brushing past them, "Don't be late to the Bequeathment."

"Of course not ma'am," Geoff kept his eyes on her until she exited the church and quickly turned his head toward Julian, "What the heck was that?"

Julian stuttered again, "T-The door!"

"What about it?!"

"There's no wall!"

Geoff slapped his forehead in embarrassment, "Come on, Lab Rat, let's go pray."

[And I Delete ANOTHER!]
