Cheap Kill

With the Spirit Wolf now dead, Aloph assumed the summons would be gone now and that meant the Spirit Python would be alone and weakened. Hopefully, it would be weak enough for him to kill it with ease, Aloph hoped.

Walking through the now thinner fog, Aloph cautiously watched his surroundings and kept his grip on [Father's Will] tight. Just as he was walking, behind him a twig would snap and within an instant Aloph flipped himself around and faced the source of the sound, but was disappointed to see only a four [Brown Forest Rabbit] sniffing the ground.

"Damn, just a rabbit! That little guy really scared me for a second there!", Aloph said as he turned back around and continued walking in the direction he saw the Spirit Python escape towards. Only, once he started walking, he would suddenly hear the sound of running and then he would feel something bite down on his injured left shoulder.

Feeling the pain shoot through him, Aloph looked left and saw the [Brown Forest Rabbit] biting into him, but before he could even think about why a rabbit would bite him, it slowly transformed into a smaller version of the Spirit Wolf. Seeing this, Aloph was shocked! The Spirit Wolf's summons was still alive!

Since the only way he could defend himself was with [Father's Will], Aloph quickly slashed at the Wolf Summon, but unfortunately, the Wolf was able to let go of Aloph and make his slash miss. However, Aloph used this to his advantage and quickly turned around before jumping backward to gain some distance and as he did so, Aloph eyed his new opponent, or rather, opponents. In front of him were four growling miniature versions of the Spirit Wolf that stared at him with clear anger within their eyes, replacing the small, and somewhat cute [Brown Forest Rabbits].

"System!" Aloph said, wanting it to display the information of the four Summoned Wolves.

[Vengeful Pack Members

Rank: Semi Spirit Beast

The pack of the Spirit Wolf had always followed it, this hasn't changed even in death. After sensing their pack leader dies, their resentment of the killer(you) had allowed them to linger on, in order to avenge their leader.

Note: Finish them as soon as possible. Seeing any of their kin killed will only fuel their resentment which might allow them to breakthrough into Tier 1 Spirit Beasts!]

Aloph's expression grew grave once he finished reading the final part of the info display. If he allowed more than one of the wolves to progress into a Tier 1 Spirit Beast, he might be done for. While individually Tier 1 Spirit Beasts weren't that much of a trouble since he had the sword which could cut them, but together, they would too much and it's worse since they're wolves and used to working together. Aloph could only say one thing in regards to this, "What the fuck IS THIS FOREST!?" He encountered not one, but two Spirit Beasts and one was even a Tier 2! Then, the summons of Tier 2 is now all Semi Spirit Beasts!

It was safe to say that Aloph was getting mighty tired of this Forest, but he would have to complain some other time as the Vengeful Spirits were making their move!

One of the four began running straight towards him while two others each went to his left and right, aiming for a pincer. The last one began to run around him, obviously to block off his escape. Aloph would have to either run away when he still had the chance, despite the chasing wolves or stand his ground, he couldn't be idle in this!

Aloph quickly decided that he would stand his ground and in a quick moment, he dashed to his right, aiming to kill the Vengeful Spirit Wolf on his right first! The wolves were unperturbed as they just slightly changed their movement to match Aloph's direction.

Once Aloph was only 4 meters away from Vengeful Spirits he used his skill, [Killing Intent] and directed it at the Wolf. Feeling the Killing Intent, the Wolf continued on, not caring for it and seeing this, Aloph was shocked! His killing intent didn't work!

With his forward momentum making him go forward, Aloph only had the choice to duck and roll right and perhaps be able to attack from below if he had the chance. Thankfully, just a second before he ducked and rolled, the Wolf jumped towards him. Making a narrow dodge, Aloph rolled right under the Wolf and once stabilizing himself, Aloph made a swift turn and was about to slice the Wolf in half when he was attacked from the side! Another Wolf had pounced at his right side, so he was forced to roll backward in order to dodge, and dodge again by rolling forwards when Wolf which had blocked off his escape route ran at him from his left!

After dodging again, he looked at his surroundings and frowned. He had a wolf to his left, behind him, and two in front of him, things were not looking good. He was right back where he started, but even more tired than before. However, before Aloph could formulate a plan the four Wolves pounced at him and with no plan, Aloph just said, "Fuck it!" before tightening his grip on his sword and did a whirlwind attack by turning around in circles with his sword swinging in circles.

By either dumb luck, divine intervention, or the Wolve's lack of intelligence, Aloph actually managed to cut all four Wolves in half. Thankfully, due to his [Body Strengthening Technique], he was able to turn fast enough to cut them all in half before they could dodge and once Aloph stopped turning around in circles, he fell onto his knees with his head spinning. Moving in circles very fast had bad side effects for those not trained in it.

Knowing he killed those four Semi Spirit Beasts, Aloph could only grin. He didn't care if his attack was cheap, it was either he killed them or they killed him, plus, he still had to worry about the Spirit Python since the fog hadn't fully cleared, though you could now see 7 meters ahead of you.

Laying on his back, Aloph checked the System and when he opened it, he was greeted by several notifications.

[Ding!

>You have killed a Semi Spirit Beast x4! Would you like to assimilate a skill or take the Exp?

>You have performed a Whirlwind Attack! You have unlocked the following skill, [Whirlwind Blade]!

>A mission quest has started! Find and kill 5 Spirit Beasts! 2/5

Reward: Title!]

Aloph had gotten a lot from a seemingly small achievement, but he ignored the other things for a moment and focused on whether he should assimilate a skill or take the Exp? After a brief moment of consideration, he decided to convert three of the 4 into Exp and assimilate one skill. After bringing up the prompt, he chose the options he wanted.

[Ding!

>You killed a Semi Spirit Beast x3! You gained 1500 Exp!

>You have chosen to assimilate a single skill from the Semi Spirit Wolf, rolling chances.

>1...2...3...You have learned, [Camouflage!]

>[Camouflage]

Description: Through the use of Spirit Energy, you are able to mask your presence and make yourself one with your surroundings. This can be achieved through either making yourself look like a tree or looking like prey. However, to look like another animal, you must gain an understanding of the animal.]

Looking at the Description, Aloph was pretty happy. While, yes, he couldn't use it without Spirit Energy, that would change when he did get it, so the skill was bound to be very useful when he was able to use it! Smiling, Aloph called for his System Info.
