1 Born

I woke up enveloped by darkness. I tried to move but my arms and legs felt surprisingly frail, and ... tiny. I heard faint voices talking not far away.

"We had a good batch this time, many of the child-bearers survived."

"You know the drill dispose of them like normal, hopefully at least half of them make it back to the cave. Also, give extra food to the surviving child-bearers, we're losing too many, and the humans are starting to get wary."

"How? We just moved from the last cave a few months ago, there's no way they found our new location so quickly"

"How would I know? But I've been informed by the hunting squads that they are finding fewer and fewer humans around the area."

"Hmm, I check it out"

The voices faded and I heard footsteps walking towards me. I felt a large hand grab me by the leg and I was thrown into some sort of sack. The material felt rough and scratched my still tender skin. It wasn't so bad until I felt something else thrown in the sack with me. It felt like... another me?

My eyes finally felt normal enough for me to try and open them, and the first thing I see is a green lump on top of me.

One green lump on top of me didn't feel so bad but then I felt the impact of 8 more being thrown in the sack. The breath was knocked out of me and it was starting to feel like I was slowly getting squashed to death. This lasted for a few minutes and I was struggling to breathe at this point.

But then suddenly I was free. I felt the sack swing forward and all of the little green lumps in it were thrown on the floor. Once again the breath was knocked out of me and now I was thankful for being at the bottom of the bag. I was the last one to fly of it and I managed to land on top of one of the other green lumps that broke my fall.

Then suddenly I heard 4 bell-like noises go off.

{You have Slain Baby Goblin}

{You have gained 1 level}

{You have gained 1 level}

{2 Skill points granted}

Wait, what? I looked down at the bloody mush under me. Ahhh, the fall from the sack must have severely damaged the thing then I dealt the final blow by landing on it.

Baby Goblin?

Is that what I am? I looked at my little green arms and again tried to move them. This time they listened and I pushed myself off the bloody body of the goblin. I tried to stand up and managed to do it, even though I was still a bit shaky.

I looked around and noticed a few of the others were also starting to stand up and move around. But even though about 6 or 7 of us managed to stand there were still a few unmoving bodies bleeding on the floor. They must have been the ones at the top of the sack, they got the full force of the throw and didn't make it.

Wait didn't killing the other goblin make me level up? I walked towards the bodies on the ground and stepped on them as hard as possible but they didn't move. Guess they the fall finished them off, too bad I wanted to level up more.

Actually didn't I hear something about skill points? I focused my head to try and remember the messages and suddenly a brunch of words popped up in my head.

Shit, I guess the fall did do damage, I'm already down to half my health. Hmm, which one will help me increase health? The stronger I am the healthier right?

Put one point in strength

{One point added to strength}

I felt a little shiver go through my body, and I felt that my legs weren't as shaky as before and walking was a lot easier. I glanced back at my health, it was still 5/10. Dammit, I'll just pick the next stat and hope it works.

Add a point to Vitality.

{One point added to vitality}

Again I felt the shiver while I checked my status again.

{Status:}

Health: 5/13

Mana: Unavailable

Negative effects: Hunger (Stops healing)

Well, I guess I have more health, but it's still less than half right now. It also says that hunger is stopping me from healing, I better start looking for some food to eat. I looked around and noticed the slowly decaying bodies of the dead goblins.

Better than nothing right?
