1 Halloween Night

The past few days have been unbearable for Jess. No matter how long she waited, it seemed like Halloween would never come. She had long been prepared for this day. Jess, being the big shot she is, had to make sure her outfit this year stole the show.

Jess always had a crowd around her since day one of school. She had this charisma that just captured everyone's attention. Her intelligence and looks were just a bonus to her nearly perfect self. Her big round hazel eyes and honey colored hair could definitely suck someones soul away. And her smarts could make any nerd bow on their knees and address her as a queen.

With this school fame came the need to always need to be the center of attention. If their was any events she had to participate. Any positions that needed volunteers, she'd raise her hand without hesitation.

She was indeed slightly narcissistic, but she treated everyone friendly. In fact, her friend group had people of all sorts of interests.

There was Nico, a very introvert kid who is literally afraid of everything. He only seems confident when he talks about his magical anime girls. With his love for anime, comes with the hate of 3D girls. Jess is literally the only girl he bothers to talk to, he couldn't care less about others.

There is also Sawyer. He is someone you'd expect of a popular girl to hang out with. Sawyer is literally a genius. His Judgement and perception towards things is always welcomed among his peers. He is also quite popular due to his looks and cold personality. But Sawyer and Jess don't really meet eye to eye with a lot of things. Actually, they hardly agree on something. But this doesn't change their friendship or how they interact with one another.

Besides those two, there is literally the most innocent dumpling of a friend,Rose. He really isn't good at anything. His jokes are often made at the wrong time and his main priority is food. Rose would run a marathon if the end prize was a just a slice of pizza. Other than his love for food, he really lacks character. But this shortfall is what makes him the most loved in the friend group.

These three friends are the only normalcy in Jess's life. Without them she'd be a puppet built only on perfection. This year she decided that she'd be more active with them, starting with a great Halloween together.

Today is the day she will get to spend the entire evening with them. So she had to look perfect.

This year she decided to be the most gorgeous witch in Crescent Village. She strutted a knee length midnight dress. Her arms were covered in a sheer sleeve with eccentric golden patterns and her legs with fishnet leggings. Her black leather boots added a more Gothic look to her overall outfit. With this, she donned a smokey eye makeup look, that further brought out the hazel color of her eyes.

Jess was ready to steal breaths away. She looked one last time in her princess pink room's vanity table. Satisfied, she walked downstairs to have her mom help her clip on her hat.

"Mom what do you think? Aren't I the most beautiful witch that has ever lived."

Jess's Mom turned around from whatever it was she was doing on the dinning room table. She dotingly gazed at her daughter. With a loving smile she gently replied yes.

Jess smiled widely at her mother's praise. She walked up and gave her mother a hug, cutely asking for her to put on her hat. Jess's mom gently took the small black hat with a lace veil, and fixed it into her curled hair.

Jess beamed at her mother's touch. All full of smiles, Jess gave her mom a tight squeeze.

" Your not gonna have a mother if you break me in half you know."

Jess lightly laughed at her mom's playful remark. She unwillingly let go of her mother's waist. With a pout on her face, she declared that if her mother wasn't so beautiful she wouldn't so clingy. Jess's Mom released a helpless sigh at her adoring daughters declaration. With a tender smiled she ushered Jess to hurry and get her Trick or Treat bag. Announcing that her friends were already waiting outside for her.

With a start Jess races back up the stairs to get her bag from her room. In a whirl she was already by the downstairs, rushing out the door.

"Jess remember to stay with your friends! Don't get lost okay."

Jess shouted with assurance after her mom's concerned voice. She stepped outside and slowly took a deep breath, taking in the chilly air. It was already evening, so the sun already started to set. The orange hue over the Autumn leaves made a perfect Halloween scenery.

With a smile she began to look around for her friends, and sure enough like her mom said they were already outside waiting for her.

On the sidewalk pavement stood her three best friends. Jess could see Rose's frantically waving hand. His dark curls bounced along with his crazed movement. He began to shout Jess to hurry her over. As Jess skipped over she overheard Nico's irritated voice.

"Rose you can stop waving i'm sure the witch saw your monkey dancing."

Rose didn't appreciate his excitement being compared to a monkey dancing, but didn't want to argue as it would die down his enthusiasm. He pulled out the map that Sawyer made the day before. With a fire in his eyes he passionately studied the map as if it were a guide to a treasure trove.

" Are you ready Jess! We are gonna have some much fun." Rose declared with gusto.

"Yay" Nico mockingly declared.

Sawyer, who was letting Rose get all his excitement out, finally said a word. He stared Nico down and told him if he was gonna be a downer they'd leave him here. Nico winced at Sawyer's cold stare. After he recognized his embarrassing behavior, he got angry.

"I shouldn't have come, I'm missing my Halloween anime special because of you kids!"

Trying to make peace, Jess and Rose intervened between the growing heated argument. Rose was trying to pat Nico's shoulder to comfort him.

"Guy's lets just calm down and start going trick or treating. Today is Halloween, the day we get free candy! Let's just calm down and go have fun okay?"

Nico grunted but agreed grudgingly. Sawyer just quietly went along with the situation. With the argument over they began to study their map. Jess raised her eyebrows in curiosity to the red stars next to some houses.

"What do these red stars mean Sawyer?"

Sawyer made eye contact with Jess and replied they were the bigger houses with the most decoration and most likely to give out the most candy. When Sawyer made his clarification you could see Rose's eyes go big. It was a Rose thing to do. Anything edible can make him look like he was injected with chicken blood.

"Sawyer do you think the Chester's will give out those huge chocolate bars again?" Rose asked looking up at him with reverence.

"Yes I believe so, with them doing so over the past three years and 3% increased profit they have made this year, It is very likely."

Rose squealed in excitement earning a snort from Nico. Jess looked at them in comfort seeing they were no longer arguing. With a newfound eagerness, Jess was looking forward to their loot being greater than last year.
