7 CH 6 New Family

Days passed like this, and Alcor diligently continued his energy absorption process. However, he also made sure to take sufficient breaks and completely master his increased prowess every day.

No one would visit him except Kane. Kane made sure to provide everything Alcor needed personally. However, this time he was doing so with his own choice. They had got close in this time, starting to treat each other as true brothers.

He told Alcor about how the wizard had been killed. He had also given Alcor the possessions he had got from the Wizard, which was not much, just a pouch with some galleons, sickles, and knuts.

A month from when Alcor had killed the wizard, Alcor's stats looked very powerful, enough to defeat the wizard without any tricks.

Alcor had stopped investing points in attributes when they were about to reach the second threshold. The reason for this was that he noticed that the more he exceeded the recommended average stats for an Energy Dungeon, the lower the points he earned would be.

Currently, he was very used to Wind Energy Dungeon, Finding it incredibly easy to crush Wind Elemental Wisps and various flying magical birds that had started spawning as he got stronger. However, with his increased prowess, he found it very easy to clear Wind Energy Dungeon despite the increasing magical entities

But since the recommended average stats for Wind Energy Dungeon was 10-15, he knew he was pushing its limits. Soon he might entirely stop receiving points from this dungeon. So he wanted to save up attribute points to make one of his cores go through Second Maturation before moving on to the next dungeon.

That evening, Alcor had just finished the 5th dungeon run of the day, when he heard a knock on the door of his room.

"Come in." He called out. As the door opened, he saw Kane come in with a hesitant expression.

"Ah, big brother Kane. Come in." Alcor asked.

"Hi, little brother." Kane said as he came and sat on the couch "I have come here to ask you advice on something."

"If I can be of help then please go ahead. No need for formalities with me Big brother." Alcor said.

Taking a deep breath to steel himself, Kane said what was bothering him, "I want to quit the Gang."

Alcor was stunned by this sudden declaration, "Why this sudden decision Big Brother?"

"Because I am scared, little brother." Kane said, "Alcor, although I know you are stronger now and that the chances of the previous situation repeating are small, there is a small part of me that just can't stop thinking about it."

"Don't get me wrong, I am not scared of dying. What I am scared of is leaving my wife, Veronica, alone in this world."

"To prevent anything like the previous incident from happening again, I want to retire from this Gang business and focus on starting a family with Veronica. She deserves that life and I want to give that to her."

Alcor listened to it all carefully and then asked, "Will the gang let you leave Big Brother? Or would you like me to help out?"

"No that is okay. I don't want to expose you if possible. The gang would not make trouble for me, as I have already given up my authority over various gang-owned businesses."

"I have enough money saved up to live comfortably for the rest of my life even if Veronica and I never work. Maybe I will just start a small shop or something to keep myself occupied."

Alcor nodded at this and smiled, "Okay big brother. I can see that you have thought this through. don't worry, you are making the right decision and you have my full support."

Kane smiled, "I am glad to hear you say that, as I have one more request to make."

"Oh, there is more? What is it?" Alcor asked.

"Alcor," Kane said with a smile as he put a hand on Alcor's shoulder "Would you join Veronica and me in our small family as an official little brother?"

Alcor was stunned once again. He felt his eyes slightly misting up as he nodded in agreement with a happy smile on his face.

Alcor and Kane successfully left the Gang a month later. Despite Kane's preparations and sacrifices, a few narrow-minded members tried killing him off anyway to 'Tie up Loose Ends'. However, with Alcor by Kane's side, it was impossible for any of the members to even scratch him.

As a result, it was Kane and Alcor who went on a rampage of revenge, until all the Heads of the Night Wolves personally came and apologized to the two of them.

They were compensated with a Big Villa in a remote part of London and a choice of business for Kane to take away with him. Kane discussed with Alcor and took one of the book store businesses near his new villa.

Once they had solved everything, Kane took Alcor to meet Veronica. Veronica was a beautiful woman with fair skin, dark hair, and an attractive figure. When he first saw her, he was surprised that someone like Kane had managed to make someone like Veronica fall for him. But he knew that Kane loved Veronica dearly, so he didn't make things awkward for them.

Veronica was very thankful to Alcor and had an extremely good impression of him. She already was thankful to him as she attributed the changes in Kane to his new little brother. But when he saw how well behaved and polite Alcor was, she started treating him like a little brother too.

As months passed, this small family welcomed a new member. Veronica and Kane became proud parents to a beautiful little girl. They made Alcor the Godfather and asked him to name the girl. Alcor named her Astrid, based on how beautiful the girl was.

Alcor doted on Astrid and Veronica often found Astrid liking Alcor's company more than her own mother's. While that did often make her jealous, she was happy that a powerful person like Alcor was a guardian angel to her little girl.

Veronica already knew about Alcor and his magical powers. But both Alcor and Kane had cautioned her not to spread it outside their family, lest they invite some trouble.

Veronica was also no fool, she knew very well the kind of attention such powers would gather. Moreover, Alcor had already told them a little about the hidden magical community and some of the major rules. As such, they made sure to keep a tight lid on it and not let the news leak out.

However, that didn't mean they didn't take advantage of it while at home. Alcor was the one responsible for most of the chores in their house.

He didn't mind it either, with his magic it barely took around a dozen minutes to clean and dust their villa each day. He treated it as practicing his magic in the real-world to gain better control.

Little Astrid was also a big fan of Alcor's magic. Her most favorite pastime was to make her Godfather let her fly through the air. With Alcor spoiling her as he did, the little girl spent most of her time swimming in the air than crawling on the ground.

Time passed and Alcor celebrated his 9th birthday, while Astrid celebrated her first birthday a few months later. Alcor also noticed that the time for the start of the events of the canon was coming soon.

While he would only be able to attend Hogwarts in the same year as Luna and Ginny, he decided to make a prior acquaintance of the important characters who would be affecting this world greatly in the coming years.

Time was coming soon when he would meet the boy around whom the events of this world revolved. He was going to meet Harry potter very soon.
