Lost Desires

Everyone was ushered out the room. Some gave me skeptical glances, but couldn't do anything about them. Once the last person left, and pulled the door closed, he started talking again.

"I did love your mother," He began, "I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for her. I knew she loved me too, but she couldn't express it as I could. She was built like a robot, and knew wrong of her personal desires."

I thought back to my mother. I had never truly met her, but I'd been told she was one of the best. She had done everything right. Died in battle even.

"I tried to be there for you. They wouldn't let me. The only person who knew the truth about you perilled a couple years ago. That's when I lost everything I had to see you. They knew someone was sneaking in," He paused, recounting those memories. "I just wanted to see you grow. I just wanted to support you, and be there when no one else was allowed. I just wanted to be your father."

I had been silent the entire time. That's when I noticed tears welling in his eyes. Wow. This guy was soft.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be your daughter, but it's to late now. I'm an adult, and I've grown my life without you. Maybe you can be there. Maybe you can't. But soon, there will be nothing left to be there for," I stopped, realising I'd talked to much, let to much out.

Unfortunately, he caught it. "What do you mean, nothing left to be there for?" He gave me a look, one like a fatherly protection that glazed over me.

I gave in, explaining that once this was over, I would be soon after as well. Explaining how I was needed anymore.

The look on his face could only be anger. He had finally met me, and I couldn't offer him the forever he'd hoped for.

Then a glimmer caught his eye, and idea.

"Come with me. I will love and care for you, and everyone will welcome you. We will be happy. My daughter, I will give you life, as you gave me purpose in mine."
