If only, this were the End

I stood around broken glass, shards of colourful slices. They once held their place on the walls, but, nothing is ever really permanent. As the ages went on, they found their new spots, broken and shattered on the floor. Eventually, they will be dust, as well as the rest of this place. It will barely be a memory.

I guess, the same thing goes for anything in this reality. Eventually, everyone will become nothing. In some ways, it would be peaceful. No one to hurt you. You are as safe as you could ever be. Untouchable. I never realized how much I really longed for the peace of silence, and for the anxiousness of losing my friends and family to go away.

But, that time is not now.

"Okay everyone, we need to be ready. Let's move quickly if we want to get to our safe haven before nightfall. If you are here, know that this journey will not be easy. We are not here to enjoy the serenity of the human world. We are here to protect it. Don't get lost in it, and do your job. By the end of the month, when they open the portal again, our goals better be done. There are twelve powerful demons in this realm. When we go home, that number better be zero. Everyone is counting on us. We can't mess this up." We started walking through the woods, over branches.

Unfortunately, my peace is far from near.
