Thankfully they turned their attention back to work and left me the hell alone so I could focus. I was so focused that I didn’t even realize it when they left one by one. Even the lamb had fallen asleep in my lap after chewing through everything within its reach.

The place felt emptier than usual and way too quiet, which was always my preference in the past. It took me a second to realize what the problem was; I missed her incessant chatter. Instead of working, I sat there staring blankly at the screen with a stupid grin on my face as I recalled her antics with her new pet.
