I guess Lyon was right again, she seemed more relaxed since we left the house, but I was still tense having her out in the open like this. I hadn’t meant to take her outside or off the premises, to be exact, until we caught this guy, but Lyon kind of challenged me.

Why he suggested such a thing knowing the situation we were in is beyond me, I can never figure out how this guy’s mind works or what he’s thinking from one minute to the next, and I won’t be telling him that he seems to know what he’s talking about most of the time. I still don’t know how he does it since he’s about the last person I’d seek advice from about romance.

And the way he goes on about his wife and kids, he’s the last one I’d have expected to suggest I take her out anywhere in the middle of all this. From what I’d gathered so far, he keeps the poor woman under lock and key on that island of theirs, all but wrapped up in cotton balls. But he has no problem with me taking my girl out in public.
