Going Back In Time:

Suddenly, everything turned white, when my consciousness came to be again I was suddenly sitting down in the middle of what used to be my home, I was confused and scared of what was happening, that was until I remembered what had happened before when I turned around I could see something, but it was too bright for me to see, or even make out the shape of.

"It's nice isn't it, I chose it because I knew it would be the only place you would be comfortable, so, as for your question, I'll ask one last time, are you truly sure you want to know this, there is no shame in backing down"

I was silent for a moment, although I did say yes before, it had only been because of my desperation to find another way to escape the pain, now that I was free, I was hesitant, I knew I wanted answers, but I didn't know if I could live with the answer I would get, I was scared, but I knew that it would only be more painful to not know, so I said yes.

"Very well, the reason why I didn't stop the end of the world was because of two reasons, at least those are the ones you should be able to understand. Although humans are born innocent, they are not free of sin as they live their lives, I do not hurt them, as their fate is to be decided once their 'life' ends, that is also one reason why I did not help them either.

As for the other reason, it's because this is not the first time the world has ended, humanity seems to have hit a barrier, not able to prosper past the interstellar era, at first, I believed that there was hope in humanity, so I reset everything, except for the souls of those already here, but things never changed, whether it was because of a natural disaster of human war, the world always came to an end sooner or later.

I'm merciful, but I'm not ignorant, despite how much I still want to believe and probably deep down still believe that there is hope in humanity, I also know that it would only bring pain and suffering if I continued the cycle, so I've decided to give humanity one last chance, letting those who suffered the atrocities of the end of 'the world' and let them guide humanity, and if this trial is to end the same as those before, then there will be no more humanity, only those already here"

I sat there for a moment, trying to take everything in, it was like everything I knew had been flipped on its head, eventually, though, I was able to calm down enough to ask something else, I knew that it was probably not my place to, but I had to, otherwise, I would once again go back to where I was before.

"Can, can I go... with them?"

The room suddenly turned cold, it was like everything had frozen in place, I felt my nerves contract as immeasurable pain began to surge all over my body, I was almost unable to say anything, or move for that matter, but I was still able to hear the voice, it had now turned serious like it was looking to punish me for my insolence.

"Yes, you could, but would you dare to, I already have somebody ready to go back in order to represent your country, she is the most qualified for the position out of all of you, so you tell me, would you dare to take her place? Mind you, that your sins can still be forgiven, I will not stop you if you choose to go, but do know, that there will be nowhere for you to go once your life ends… Think carefully"

At first, I was terrified but hopeful that there was a chance for me to go to heaven, despite all of my sins, but I also knew that I wouldn't be able to live with myself, not knowing what I have already done, chances are that I would eventually break, and send myself to hell, so I decided to go back. To my surprise though, the aura around the room turned sorrowful.

"Very well, I do not believe that you understand the ramifications of what you have just done, but I won't stop you, it would unfair of me to do so, as I was already going too far by picking the best candidates, humanity is not perfect after all, so, I only have one last thing to ask you, what do you wish to take back with you"

I immediately gave a sigh of relief, knowing that I had made the decision I wanted without being erased. What he asked did startle me though, I didn't know why he offered me the voice to tale something with me, but I wasn't going to pass it up, after a long time, I finally decided to get a loaded gun, chances were that I would be sent to a time before these were available, so having one would be a lifesaver when I told God what I wished to take back, he rejected it.

"Although it is certainly something that would be helpful, it's not the thing you truly wish to take with you, top thinking about what would be the most useful and find what you truly wish to take back with you, you only have one more try though, otherwise you'll have to go back with nothing"

I knew that it wasn't a joke, so I decided to try to turn off my brain, and look into the deepest part of me to find what it was I wanted, but no matter how much I tried, all I could see was my family, I was stumped, I didn't know what to do until I noticed that inside the right pocket of my mother's jacket, there was something shining when I focused all my attention on it, I could make out the shape of a pocket watch.

"I see you found it, I knew you could, now then, are you ready?"

"Y, yes"

"Before you leave I must warn you, that although you will retain all of your memories, you will completely forget about your time here, I wish you luck, and I hope you don't let me down"
