A Halfling and a Bear

The prompt: A halfling merchant with a scythe, helping a giant bear in a temple

"Here you go, big guy" the small grey bearded man huffed, out of breath, after half leading, half pushing the enormous bear into the spot the clerics had pointed out for him. The bear groaned, not particularly satisfied with being pushed around by this tiny man, but it was too weakened to put up much of a fight. It hadn't expected the halfling to be able to put up much of a fight when it went for the food in his camp, but the old man was surprisingly strong and skilled with the scythe.

"Oh, quit your whining already, this is your own doing, you know." The halfling patted the bear on the head, seemingly not the slightest afraid of the beast.

Marly, the halfling, had been quite startled when the giant bear came barreling into his camp. Of course, pretty much any bear is a giant compared to a halfling, but this one was double if not triple the size of a regular one, Marly estimated. In an attempt to save his goods, he was a merchant of fine meat you see, Marly took up the fight against the bear. The bear was wounded rather badly and Marly felt sorry for the poor beast, he after all was just a bear following his instincts. So, with much hard work, trying to push the giant, as well as sacrificing some of the meat to lure it to follow him, they finally made it to the temple of Artemis, where he was hoping the clerics or priestess might be able to heal the wounds.

Marly sighed and sat down next to the bear; "Now, you better start behaving after you get out of here. If I had been anyone else, you probably would be dead by now."

The bear let out a disgruntled huff but stayed quite still as a young woman approached them and started tending to the cuts.
