The chess game

I stood in front of Akira who smiled with confidence. His eyes seemed focused on the chessboard in front of him. I was playing white which gave me the first move of this game. I looked at him understanding why he chose it. I chuckled a bit as Yume and a few other people watched the game about to unfold.

My family was going to watch me play. So I guess I'll not hold back my skill.

'You ready?' I sent through my link with Akira where he nodded. The match began.

Pawn to E4 to which he responded with a D6. Interesting he was going with the Pirc Defense then. I have seen this opening before when I studied different games in the White Room. I responded with my pawn to D4 where as he went with Knight to F6.

The game evolved from there a bit. He was going with something similar to the King's Indian defense however this isn't an official one since I didn't move my pieces the way needed for the defense to be named as such. My Queen was moved to D2 setting up a battery where my Bishop would be sacrificed. He moved his Pawn to C6 in response.

I predicted something so I moved my pawn to F3. He still tried it anyways with a B5. Recognition flashed in his eyes as I placed my knight on E2. Of course I recognized the game myself but there wasn't much he could do about it.

'Should we give them the same spectacle? I know I'll lose but we'll have an actual match later.'

'Depends. Do you want to?' To the others he was merely observing his options and considering them whilst I was silent and considering what he would do next.

We played 3 moves in quick succession with me sacrificing my Bishop to take his Bishop with my Queen.

'We'll play another game today. Ask for a rematch and I'll accept it.' He accepted the plan with a nod as Bishop to B7 was played by him. I played Pawn to A3 and he moved his own to E5. I long castled then to his response of Queen to E7 which was followed by King to B1. He goes A6 and I moved my Knight to C1.

He then opened the position with his Pawn leading me to capture it with my Rook after it took my Pawn. He targeted my Rook but I moved it back to it's previous square. He plays Knight to E6 where I play Pawn to G3. The idea is to get my light squared bishop off of it's starting tile in a an area it can actually be good in. He moves his king to avoid a check coming his way and then I played Knight to A5.

An extremely direct move from me. He simply moves his Bishop out of danger. Then my bishop was place on H3 allowing it to stare down the board like an angry god waiting for someone to punish. He played Pawn to D5.

"Check." I said as Queen to F4 was played by me. He moves the king to a corner named A7. And Rook E1 was now played activating all of my pieces. He lunges his pawn forwards to attack my knight.

We both hid our smirks we both knew what was about to go down.

Knight to D5. A square that is covered by the 2 black Knights, Rook and Bishop with no defenders. Was played by me. The idea of this move was to launch an attack on the queen by discovery which happened yet he moved his queen to a square which offered a trade of queens.

I played Rook take's D4 sacrificing my Rook then after he takes I threw my other Rook onto the E5 square to which he responded with by moving his King to B6. I take on D4 with my Queen allowing him to capture my knight on A5. I play Pawn B4 check he moves forward to avoid a Checkmate.

At this point I had to win by checkmate or draw the game as I he will survive by timing out. This meant I had to go for a checkmate.

Queen to C3 to which his Queen took on D5 followed by Rook to A7 by me. He moves his Bishop to B7 and I take his Bishop with my Rook.

'Oh no my Rook.' I stated sarcastically through telepathy. His mouth twitched upwards but he wasn't smiling. He almost did.

He goes for a queen trade to which I declined by taking his Knight with my Queen. King takes on A3 which was responded with Queen takes A6.

"Check." I called out and he moved his King to B4 and was put into check once again by Pawn to C3. He took that Pawn after I stated it was check. And now my Queen goes to A1.

"Check." Yes Queen to A1 check.

He yet again moved his King to D2 then I played Queen to B2.

"Check."

He brings it down to D1 and understanding that the game was going to be over soon my Bishop was placed back onto it's starting square of F1. He played Rook to D2 and now my Rook went to D7 stopping his whole idea with one move. He took my Rook to which I then took his Queen with my Bishop then he responded with taking my Bishop.

I took the Rook which he had hung. The same Rook that never got a chance to move once was captured. Rook to D3, where my queen then went to the opposite corner of the board. He moved his Pawn.

"Check." My Queen is put onto A4. He has his King back away to where my Pawn moved to F4 him immobilising it with his own Pawn. King to C1 was played. He moved his Rook to D2 and like a machine I played A7 with my Queen.

*Position.*

"I resign." Akira knocked his King down after stating that. "But I want a rematch."

"Sure." He reset the board with me so we had a chance. I then reset the timers on our clocks.

He was now White whilst I was Black.

"They really are about to play another game?!" Yume was shocked barely able to keep up with the game.

*FYI I am ending the chapter here because it is obvious who wins this though if you want I can post a short chapter where all of the moves leading to Akira's actual defeat is. As for the game it is Kasparov's immortal game. His game against Topalov in 1999.*
