20 ABYSS AUCTION

Shaheer took off on his bike, exchanging a few pleasantries. She even gifted him one of her favorite books named 'If Magic Was Possible.' Aiman Abrar was the author of that book. The title of the book was self-explanatory - it covered the prospects of daily life and how developed and undeveloped Earth would become. Although some parts of it were on social affairs, a huge chunk of the book explained how magic could be possible if an individual somehow manipulated the energies of the earth. It explained how magic could be usable in daily life as well as in war. There were even ways explaining how someone could manipulate energies to form spells that only existed in fiction. Shaheer gleaned all this information from glimpses he took while briefly going through the book. He thought this could be extremely helpful, as for now, Shaheer had two forms of energy traveling through his veins that he could somewhat control. He was not sure if his control was enough, as many of the things written here required massive control over them, but he knew that his control increased a little every time he tried.

Shaheer also noticed that the book was extremely detailed, and someone could not just think it out and write it. The author should have felt what it was to manipulate the energies. Shaheer was pushed towards thinking that the author of this book should be connected to the abyss, if not, she must have had an ability related to the work she had written. Shaheer thanked Maheen for her generosity and bid farewell.

With a newfound skill of meditation, Shaheer felt his senses break through a layer, and the world around him became more vivid. The feeling he experienced was close to when he entered the zone in a situation. He could also feel that if he concentrated on something, all the other things vanished, and the point of his focus increased towards that. It was almost as if he could meditate without even trying to clear his mind or sit in a lotus position.

Riding his bike down the streets, he continuously thought about the new understanding he now had of his ability. He had figured out that his gaming ability numbered his physical and mental abilities down. If there were a way to access that information, it would be a huge help. Being in a dire situation, one could only judge their opponent by appearance and decide to fight or run. However, these numbered-down stats would give Shaheer a good idea before a fight of whether he was capable of putting up a good effort or would just die in vain. He was trying to figure out how to access this information about his personal stats. Nonetheless, this did not hold top priority among all his concerns now. He now had a new feature of quests, and he had already triggered one. Quests were something usually common in RPG games, but who would think to get a quest in real life? Quests in games usually had two types: main quests and side quests. The main quest would be part of the game from the start and would lead towards the main purpose the protagonist had. Side quests were triggered while doing them. You could even get side quests from other NPCs (Non-Player Characters) to gain experience or other rewards.

The quest Shaheer had triggered did not seem to be a main one, although its rewards seemed good. But Shaheer, being in real life, could not compare it to anything. He did not even know if the health potions would work on him. It was not like he had HP points as a game character - what he had was life. If he was executed, it would not bring him back to life just by drinking some health potions. Maybe healing potions could help him somehow, but even that could not help him in the previous situation. What Shaheer needed was to restrain himself from dangerous situations and remain cautious at all times. If he threw himself into the flow and casually started to live his life like a game, it would be like opening the door when his death was standing outside.

Pulling over at a nearby coffee shop, he ordered a coffee and removed the laptop from his bag, placing it on the table as he opened Google. Although he could have just searched on his smartphone, Shaheer had always been more comfortable using his laptop. He typed in the name he had recently acquired. More than a few hits came up, mostly Facebook pages named 'Shayan Tharani.' Shaheer was looking for something more than this because there was no way a person hiding himself and connected to the abyss would be this easy to find. He dismissed the idea of him being on one of the Facebook profiles. He kept scrolling down until he found something interesting.

A site named Abyss Auction came into view, and in the description of that site, the owner was named Shayan Tharani. Shaheer wasn't naive enough to consider it a coincidence. However, even if he assumed it was a coincidence that a word like "abyss" was connected to a person who was most likely from the other side of this world, the notification that just rang in his head denied that possibility.

Shaheer was confirmed by this that he was going in the right direction. But after opening the site, he was once again greeted by a dead end as a huge lock appeared, and the word 'BLOCKED' was written in bold red letters. Shaheer even searched for a sign-up or login option, but the site simply told him that he did not possess the membership card.

Closing his laptop, Shaheer realized he had reached a dead end through conventional means. All that was left for him to do now was to find a way to cheat and obtain the information he needed. And what better way to do that than to ask the person who had been constantly following him since he exited the library. Shaheer could sense this individual all along the road, but whenever he tried to look in their general direction, their presence vanished. Shaheer's main purpose for coming to the coffee shop was to catch that individual because if this person's purpose was to keep an eye on him, they would definitely enter the shop. Shaheer sat opposite the entrance of the shop so that he could observe everyone who entered after him.

After closing the laptop, a waiter walked up to him and asked for his order. However, to his surprise, he had seen this name before, and it was on a fancy car. Although the title gave it away, Shaheer now had a carefree smile as he looked at the floating text above the waiter.
