1 Game Start

Before this story begins, just a quick bit of information regarding the system. To avoid the absolute dread that is constant calculations, I've decided to opt for a simpler to understand and utilise variation of the Gamer System. You'll understand what I mean in this chapter.

Also, this story will be a harem story, but it won't be a fuck and chuck. I'll develop my character's relationships the best I can, and the harem won't grow at an incredibly fast rate, I want to take it slow when adding members into it.

Anyway, this chapter is a bit of an info dump, the rest won't be nearly as much though.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Holy shit, I'm bored!

After dying and floating around in this god forsaken void of nothingness for three fucking years, I'd thought that I'd just go completely mentally unstable, but for fuck's sake is this boring as fuck! I'd rather watch paint dry at this point!

I really have no idea just how much longer I'm going to be stuck here in this... whatever the fuck. However, I honestly cannot wait until my mental state just fully collapses on itself, at least I won't feel bored anymore! Staring at the colour black no matter where you look will do that to you, it's only a matter of time.

Come on, baby...

Mental health be damned!

『Successful synchronisation with host』

『Initiating system now』

The fuck?

Okay, either there's someone really talking inside my head right now or my mental stability is finally kicking the bucket. Actually, both of those situations would label me insane, what's the fucking difference at this point?

Anyway, who are you?

Wait, can it read my mind? I haven't opened my mouth to speak ever since I found myself here...

"H-Hello...?"

Fuck, that was harder than it needed to be!

『Initiation complete』

『Welcome to the Gamer System』

The Gamer System? As in that thing from the fucking fanfictions I've read in the past?

If my memory serves, then this so-called Gamer System allowed the individual who possessed it to live their life as a video game character. I've seen my fair share of iterations of it through the various fanfictions I've read, so there wasn't exactly a 'correct' Gamer System from what I know.

If this system here is as what my assumptions assume it to be, that meant that I was literally living the reality that I thought previously as fiction. Normally, I'd probably be celebrating this in some way, but after spending my time in this place, I can't be fucking asked.

『Due to various technical difficulties, the initiation of the Gamer System was forcefully suspended for the host. Seeing as the host was able to stay sane during the suspended time, the Game Master has decided to follow through with the commencement of the Gamer System』

Game Master? Are they like a god or something? Now that I thought about it, if this Gamer System thing was real, was the fucking theory about the world just being a massive simulation or video game real?! This voice called the person the Game Master, so it's pretty damn plausible right now!

Also, bold of you to assume that I'm still sane.

『To begin, please access the Game System Menu by saying or think 'Menu'. Please explore the menu thoroughly before we continue with selecting the world in which you will be transported to』

Neat, so I'm basically one of those isekai protagonists?

Menu.

As soon as that singular word went through my mind, a blue holographic screen of sorts flashed into existence right in front of me. The screen itself looked to be a light shade of blue, although it wasn't a solid colour, it looked as if fifty percent of its damn opacity was taken away.

.

『Gamer System』

● Character

● Quests

● Inventory

● Abilities

● Save Files

.

The system did tell me to explore it, so might as well start with the top. Plus, it was the literally character sheet, every single person would usually check that out first before anything else. With a simple thought, the system seemed to read my thoughts as the menu opened up.

.

『Character』

● Name: Felix Anderson

● Level: 1 - [LVL Cap: 20]

● Titles: None

● Ascension Stage: None

● Parameter Points: 0 - [100 Per Level]

● Health: 100/100

● Mana: 50/50

● Strength: C 〈Next Stage: 0/40〉 〈Max Damage Output: (Punch: 41) (Kick: 68)〉

● Agility: C 〈Next Stage: 0/40〉

● Intellect: C 〈Next Stage: 0/40〉

● Luck: C 〈Next Stage: 0/40〉 〈Critical Hit Rate: 17.5%〉

.

Okay... not what I expected to see.

I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting when I opened this screen, but I did at least expect to see things like numbers next to the parameters area. True, there were numbers, but it was for the next stage thing or whatever. The stats looked as if I was looking at a Servant profile from the Fate series.

The parts at the top next to the level were also kind of confusing, from the looks of it, my level had a cap to it, being level twenty. I'm not entirely sure whether or not to call absolute bullshit right now or not, maybe there's more to it than I'm thinking. There is that ascension or whatever next to it.

Hey, system. Can you give me a detailed explanation of this thing?

Hello?

Are you ther- oh, there we go!

.

『Character Screen Info』

● Name - Individual's name

● Level - The level of the individual. Whenever the individual reaches the level cap, they are able to ascend, which not only increases the level cap of the user, but also grants them additional rewards depending on the stages of the individual's parameters at the time of ascension. The higher stages the parameters are at, the better the pay off.

● Titles - Either through completing quests or by doing certain actions, the individual can attain Titles. Titles have their own significant effects, however, not all Titles are considered useful, some may very well bring the individual harm

● Ascension Stage - If an individual is of a higher ascension level than another, than that individual with the higher level of ascension will always be stronger than the other at a fundamental level. Fundamental meaning without added buffs, transformations, weapons and more. Some beings are gifted and already posses a level of ascension even before reaching their first level cap

● Parameter Points - Points that are given to the user upon levelling up, which can be used to improve the person's individual parameters. For every level gained, the individual will be rewarded with one hundred total Parameter Points. These points can also be earned through other means, such as quests

● Health - The health of the user, which when completed depleted, results in the death of the individual. The pace of regeneration can be improved, or reduced, utilising various factors such as equipment and abilities. Maximum health also increases upon each ascension

● Mana - The amount of mana that an individual possesses, the main source of power when using abilities. Some abilities can vary in the amount of mana consumed, while others may have a fixed amount. Maximum mana also increases upon each ascension

● Parameters [STR] [AGI] [END] [INT] [LUC] - The overall parameters of the individual, separated into various stages of the alphabet. By using a sufficient amount of Parameter Points, one of the Parameters can be upgraded to the next stage.

However, upon ascension, all Parameter Points that have been consumed to increase these parameters will not be refunded and the parameters will all be reset to the lowest stage. It is recommended that the individual decides carefully on how they spend their Parameter Points as levelling will become increasingly difficult upon ascensions.

.

This was... certainly interesting. Reading through this information honestly hurt my head a bit, it was certainly a lot more different compared to what I was used to seeing. Looking back at my stats, it seemed that all of them were placed at 'C', no idea whether or not that was good though.

Considering I'm just starting out, it's probably pretty shit. Probably the stats of an average human or whatever.

What really got my attention though was the fact that those stats would apparently reset themselves to the lowest level, whatever that level is. Since it says that I won't get any points back that I might spend to increase my power, I should carefully consider what I upgrade and how much I upgrade it.

These Ascension Stages are also something I should pay close attention to. If I'm understanding it right, the stats weren't the only thing that really mattered when it came to fundamental strength. Even if someone hadn't ascended yet and had the highest stats in everything, that person would still be weaker fundamentally than someone who has ascended.

Thinking about this is giving me a headache, let's just move onto the next thing... let's see, the Quests option.

.

『Quests』

● None

.

No surprise there.

Moving on...

.

『Inventory』

● Starter Pack - [Contains: 5 Random Items]

.

Oh, there's actually something in here!

At the very least, I hopefully won't be defenceless. I don't know what world I'll be transported to, so just in case it has monsters or some shit, I'd at the very least would want something to defend myself. I'd honestly even take a butter knife instead of nothing, so hopefully this package gives me a weapon or something similar.

I'll leave opening this package for later though, might as well check the rest of the menu first before looking at this. Not like I could open it even if I wanted to, the text seemed to be greyed out at the moment. Perhaps I actually had to be in a world if I wanted to use it, and not in this... black world of death.

Alright, moving onto Abilities...

.

『Abilities』

● Gamer's Mind [Rank: 1/1] - [The user is completely immune to foreign influences to the mind, such as the effects of mind control and mind reading. Whenever the user's mental stability becomes unstable to a certain degree, the user will be forced into a state of peace]

● Gamer's Body [Rank: 1/1] - [By resting in a bed, the user can restore both health and mana as well as heal minor wounds, curing diseases as well poisoning. Serious injuries such as amputation cannot be healed like this and must be dealt with through other means. The requirement for rest and nourishment is also nulled]

.

Ah, yes. The common concepts of the Gamer's Mind and Body.

I was very much familiar with these two abilities since pretty much every single Gamer fanfic out there, at least the one's that I'm aware of, always gave the MC these two skills. For good reason as well, while they don't sound impressive, the effects certainly didn't disappoint.

Especially with that last part of the Gamer's Body, that literally meant that I didn't need to eat or sleep. I could literally function at maximum capacity twenty-four-seven, at least that's what I think it means. Though, I am glad it didn't just get rid of my ability to eat entirely, people take pleasure in eating good food you know.

Moving onto the last thing, and do my eyes deceive me?

If I'm not completely blind as a bat, then the last thing in the menu was 'Save Files'. If this meant exactly what I was thinking, then this could potentially be one of the greatest hacks this system could possibly provide him.

And... holy shit!

.

『Save Files』

● The user can have a maximum of ten save files at any given time, the user is also capable of returning to any of the files whenever the user wishes. All saved files, except for the most recent, will be automatically deleted over time. The most recent save file will also be automatically loaded upon death.

Current Save Files:

● None

.

This was pretty much the ability to rewind fucking time, along with having infinite lives to boot!

If there was one thing in video games that gamer's tended to always do, that was save their game so that they wouldn't need to worry about losing progress. They usually always saved before things like boss fights, that way they can restart if something doesn't go their way.

The fact that I can now do all of that shit was overpowered as fuck! It wasn't just boss fights that I could rewind, I could just jump back to a previous save file and change the course of events if I wanted to! I could literally test drive different life choices!

All I need to make sure is that I save frequently.

『Host has finished exploring the Game System menu. Would you like to continue to the world selection screen?』

Yeah, go for it.

『World Section Randomiser Initiated. Please standby』

Wait, randomiser? I thought I'd get to choose, fuck!

『...』

『Please choose a world from the following list』

『World 1: Dragon Ball』

『World 2: Genshin Impact』

『World 3: SCP Verse』

Well, I can already cross Dragon Ball the fuck out. I don't exactly want to start off in a world where the fucking planet can explode at any given time. I love Dragon Ball as a series, I really do, but you better fucking believe I ain't wanting to live in that shit!

Genshin Impact... isn't that the gacha game that's been taking over the fucking world the past two years? Well, years that I was alive that is. I was going to play the game, but with my history of running my pocket dry with gacha games, I held myself back...

Nonetheless, I'm going to go with Genshin Impact.

Fuck the SCP Verse!
