This is what I woke up to. A screen floating in my face, something straight out of The Gamer. Sitting up and trying to touch it, my hand went straight through the screen. I tried to think about the last thing I could remember, but I was coming up blank. All I could remember was different media I had experienced, like anime and books. For some reason, I didn't feel all that worried about my lack of memory though.
'Why does it say my name is Shirou Emiya and what the hell is going on?'
When I thought that, a pop up appeared in my vision.
[Would you like to take the tutorial? Yes/No]
I tried to reach out and tap yes, but my hand once again passed through it. Trying a different strategy, I thought yes and the screen lit up the yes option.
[You are The Gamer. Everything about you, from your body to your mind, has come to imitate a game. This game has two intertwined aspects: The Journey and The Ascension. Which would you like to start with understanding?]
Not really knowing what the difference was in choosing either, I went for The Ascension.
[The Ascension is the development of you. As you progress through The Journey, your body and mind will be tempered. You will learn skills and gain abilities which will help you further progress in The Journey.]
'So that's what the stats page is for, The Ascension.'
[The Journey is the other side of the same coin. There are many tiers of worlds, worlds you are familiar with. In each tier you will have a choice of two worlds. In one world, known as the path world, you will fight your way through the members of that world at your leisure until you clear it. Upon clearing a world you will receive a reward related to that world. The other world, known as the adventure world, chosen will be accessible to be visited, but user will be unable to receive the reward from that world. Any questions about the Journey?]
'What do you mean worlds I know?'
[Worlds you know from various mediums including anime, books, tv shows, comics, and movies. The stronger a world, the higher tier it will be.]
'So I'll have to fight people like Beerus and Alucard eventually if I pick those worlds. How am I going to even beat the first world, my stats don't look all that impressive.'
[You may increase your stats through routine activities related to them. For example, working out will help increase STR and DEX dependent on the activity. It has been recognized that The Gamer is starting out at a deficit, so a Starter Package has been made available. Would you like to open it now?]
'I need to see what I'm working with as soon as possible, so I'll open it now.'

I felt information rush into my brain about different ways to kill someone. I instantly knew techniques such as Rhythm Echo. For some reason I didn't feel disgusted at the thought of killing somebody.
I assumed there was a skills page to go with this Gamer System, so I thought of skills and a list appeared in front of me.
[Skills:
Gamer's Mind: Immunity to mental disorder. Allows user to calmly and logically think through actions. Lvl Max
Gamer's Body: Grants a body that allows for the user to live the real world like a game. Lvl Max
Assassination Techniques: Knowledge of the different ways to kill someone according to the Zoldyck family. Lvl Max
Infinity: Any spell is kept active until you choose to dispel it. They no longer use mana after they are cast, but you are not able to cast a spell with a higher mana cost than you have. Lvl Max
Armament Haki: A form of Haki that allows the user to use their own spiritual energy to create, in essence, an invisible armor around themselves, providing incredible offensive and defensive capabilities. Lvl 1/10]
[Tutorial now completed. The Gamer is now completely in your hands, no further assistance will be provided. Tier 1 start, choose your Path and Adventure world: My Hero Academia, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, One Piece]
'The assassination skills and Armament Haki are nice, but Infinity is busted. It might not be all that useful now, since I don't know any magic, but once I learn some it will be insane.'
I looked at the three worlds given to me as options and didn't have a hard time deciding which world I would choose for each option.
'If I didn't get Armament Haki then One Piece would've been out. Looking at possible rewards from each of these worlds, Full Metal's is probably the least useful. My Hero is a good world for me to start out in, since no one there is too strong and I can use One Piece as my Path world since there is a lot of good potential rewards.'
Choosing One Piece as my Path world and My Hero Academia as my Adventure world, my vision suddenly faded to black. When I regained consciousness, I opened my eyes and found myself lying on the ground in an alleyway.
Standing up and walking out of the alleyway, I took a look around. I wasn't sure where exactly I was, but if nothing went wrong then I should be somewhere in My Hero Academia.
'I need to figure out what time period I'm in. If it's before Izuku gets One For All I can try to get All Might to pick me instead.'
Before I could walk anywhere I heard a huge noise. Turning to where I could hear it, I saw Mt. Lady fighting with a Giant Villain.
'So I'm right around the time he gets One For All. Does the Game put me into worlds at the start of their plot or is this just a coincidence. There's so many unknowns right now.'
Walking towards the fight, I looked around in the crowd of people for Izuku's green hair. I eventually found him as the fight was ending. Keeping an eye on him once he was leaving, I followed behind a little ways away from him.
'This isn't weird at all. I need to know where the school is so I can track when All Might shows up though.'
Eventually the school came to view and I stopped following Izuku, instead moving towards the tunnel near it and finding a good place to watch the tunnel from.
'I don't exactly have a place to stay here. Hopefully the Journey will give me money. If not I'll have to find a way to make some.'
Knowing it would be a little while until Izuku encountered the sludge villain, I decided to spend the time working out. Doing body weight exercises, I worked until my stamina ran out and I couldn't continue on. I was rewarded for my efforts though.

'I only got two points from working out for a couple hours, but it was progress nonetheless. Once I could get access to some weights I should be able to progress a lot faster.'
Resting in my place near the tunnel, I waited until I could hear noise coming from it. Taking a peak around the corner, I saw Izuku getting attacked by the sludge villain. I didn't really feel bad about taking Izuku's chance to get a quirk.
'He spent his whole life wanting to be a hero, but he didn't really put the work in. You could say he was defeated because everyone says you need a quirk, but he didn't even work out. Look at Asta, he had not magic but he spent all of his time working out to get stronger, just so he could try to achieve his dream.'
All Might's appearance was swift as he destroyed the villain. 'Now' I thought and walked around the corner into the tunnel.
"Woah, All Might is here." I said.
"Haha, yes I am. I had to help this young man with a villain I had been chasing." All Might said and held up a bottle with the sludge villain inside.
All Might then put the bottle into his pocket.
"Wait All Might, can I have an autograph?" Izuku asked.
"Sure, do you want one to?" All Might asked as he signed Izuku's notebook.
"I'm alright, I don't really have anything on me." I responded.
"I have to be off now." All Might said and crouched down to push off the ground. Seeing Izuku about to grab onto All Might's leg, I moved forward, bumping into him and throwing him off, giving me the chance too hold onto his leg as he jumped.
Holding on for dear life as I flew through the air, All Might looked down at me and said.
"Now why did you do that." Before landing on a roof top and setting me down.
"That was very dangerous. You could have fallen." he said.
"I just had to ask you a question." I said, but before I could All Might started steaming and changed into his regular form.
"Woah, you're not All Might, who are you?" I asked.
"I assure you I am All Might." He said before he coughed up blood.
"What happened to you?"
"I'm counting on you to keep your mouth shut about this, alright." All Might said.
I nodded and he continued. "I got into a fight with a villain and he injured me. Because of this, I can only hold my hero form for a set time limit." He said and lifted up his shirt, showing the caved in part of his chest.
'That's a lot more gruesome in real life.' I idly thought as I said.
"What villain could be powerful enough to hurt you?" I asked.
"It doesn't matter, he's gone now. What was your question?"
"Do you think that I can be a hero, even if I don't have a quirk?" I asked him. I didn't actually want to be a hero, at least not in this world. Everything here was so regulated. It was like a Marvel world in the future with the Registration act completed.
"Frankly, no. It's too dangerous for someone without a quirk to try to be a hero. It's good to have dreams, but make sure they're obtainable." All Might said as he opened the door and walked down the stairs.
'Okay, step one done. Now I just need to get the shopping district where the sludge villain attacks Bakugo.'
Making my way down the stairs to the street below, I asked someone for directions to the shopping district and walked towards it. When I arrived I could see the heroes all standing around outside.
'How are they this incompetent? Time to be a good actor.'
Running as fast as I could, I ran past the heroes and into the alleyway where the sludge villain was slowly suffocating Bakugo. I made a show of trying to tear the sludge away only to fail, continuing to try to free him.
It was then that All Might came into the alley and delivered a punch to the sludge villain that cleared the skies.
"Worry not young man because I Am Here."
After that I was taken aside by the heroes.
"That was very reckless. You shouldn't run in like that without a quirk, you could've gotten hurt." Kamui Wood said.
"Yes, because that kids quirk was so helpful, or yours for that matter. Some heroes you are, standing around watching a kid suffocate." I said and walked away.
Walking a little ways, I saw the small All Might standing in my way.
"I'd like to apologize. I shouldn't have crushed your dreams." All Might said.
"You were right. I couldn't do anything to help that kid, but I do know a quirk isn't all it takes to make you a good hero." I said.
'Acting like I really cared about saving him is getting tiring.'
"That's why I'm here to talk to you. What's your name?"
"Shirou Emiya."
"Shirou, how would you like to inherit my quirk?" All Might asked with a bright smile.
"What do you mean?" I asked and from there he explained to me about One For All. Since I already knew all of it I pretty much zoned out while I talked, until he said, "I think you should be my successor."
"Okay, where do we start." I asked.
"You'll need to tell your parents that you want to spend time after school at the beach. We'll go there to train your body so it can handle One For All." All Might said.
'Maybe I can get a place to live this way.'
Rubbing the back of my head I said "Uh that won't be a problem. I'm kind of homeless and don't go to school."
All Might's eyes widened and he said "Well I can't have my successor living on the street. You can stay with me, but I don't know what we can do about your education. I can try to find someone to get you caught up over the next nine months until the entrance exams for UA start."
"I think I can do fine on a test. I go to the library and read a lot." I lied.
"Well I'll get someone to go over some stuff to see where you're at. Until then, come with me." All Might said and I walked with him to his house. It wasn't as big as you would expect the top hero's house to be, but it was certainly big enough for two people.
"Here, this will be your room."
"Thank you a lot, I really appreciate it." I said.
"Of course."
I walked inside and sat down on the bed.
"You're probably tired after what happened today. I'll leave you alone and we can talk tomorrow." All Might said and left the room, closing the door.
Checking the Game, I could see an option to enter the Path. I didn't press it, I wasn't sure who the first opponent would be, but I wanted to wait until I had One For All to start clearing it.
'These next nine months I'll train to get ready for One For All. Then, I'm starting the Path.'
