A bit more colour
Jack was currently in what looked to be a regular canteen with seats and tables along with an area to collect food and utensils.
What was surprising was that it had a good variety from multiple countries, from knives and forks to chopsticks and the coveted spork.
The contestants at the moment were silently eating some simple porridge that was quite good if you looked past its orange colour.
Even though it seemed that the group was in it together as they were all human and in the same situation. It was quite clear that no one was looking to make friends with everybody, giving each other a respectful distance between seats.
Jack had finished his meal quickly, hoping to get some answers first. Unfortunately, he would have to wait.
Cagra, the giant lizard creature who Jack didn't know was a man or a woman, had told them they should get something to eat and drink before they got the true introduction.
There was an odd feeling as if they had all been put under a microscope, and every move was being studied for some unknown reason.
This was proven correct once the last person finished their meal, the double doors opened, and Cagra came through.
"Greetings candidates, I hope you have had an appropriate amount of time to gain some sustenance and steady yourself "-Cagra
"I'm so confused."
"Can we just get on with it?"
"That orange sludge hit just right"
"Yes, well follow me to the final room where we can begin the introduction to the game"-Cagra
Cagra then turned around and started walking with a light thump with every step he took and a slow line of humans following behind.
They walked down the silver halls that had an eerie silence to them beside the sound of the thumping of Cagra and the patterns of human feet.
"Can..can I ask you a question"
One of the candidates shook while looking up at the large reptile as it focused its eyes on the man.
"Of course, candidate, what is the question?"-Cagra
"Are you a man?"
"Oh, you're wondering if I am a male, then yes, I am"-Cagra
"Also.. are you gonna kill us?"
This question caused Cagra to pause and turn around to the man and also to the other of the group.
"Fear not candidates we have no wish to do you harm that isn't what you are here for I can promise you no harm will come to you before the games"-Cagra
Everything seemed quite nice until the end, all things considered, which caused many to wonder what game they were getting into.
Another minute walk of silence, and they came to a stop as a large gate-sized door opened up to a large room that could fit a hundred people.
Inside the room were ten large black squares on the floor each 1 meter apart in two rows of 5, but the most shocking thing was the multiple floating triangular devices in the room.
Cagra stood to the side of the entrance and indicated for the group to go in front of him, which they did reluctantly.
Cagra then followed them inside as the entrance closed they walked in but didn't stand on the squares staying away from them.
"Please stand on the squares so we can begin"-Cagra
Slowly, everyone took their place, each person standing on the squares while Cagra made his way towards the front of the group.
Jack took note of something there was an even number of men and women 5 each and there was a mix of white, Asian, and black the only thing that seemed in common was they all spoke English.
As Cagra made it to the front of the group, the floating triangular devices quickly moved around floating around each candidate. Jack now noticed that once they came closer than they had multiple cameras in them, he had to take his eyes off them because of the gasping everyone else was making.
Sadly, it seemed he missed Cagras's show of changing his armour into a crimson suit that fitted him quite well looking for a show host.
"Well, now I know it has been a strange time so far, but all will be answered, so do not fret"-Cagra
Cagra then raised his arms, showing a different side of him than what he had shown them.
"Welcome candidates, if you're wondering what those devices are, they are cameras that will be broadcasting you and the game across the known universe"-Cagra
Everyone was quite shocked at both the change in Cagra's personality and the fact they were being watched by possibly hundreds of millions and that they were on a game show.
"You have been given the immense pleasure and opportunity to partake in the great Evolution games!"-Cagra said with a crazed smile on his face.
"You will all be transported to the game planet of Ludum Mundi in which you will all be battling out to become the ruler of the said planet"-Cagra
"Now you must be wondering how you could do this well. You will all get the powers that the evolution games bring, which will be immense" -Cagra
"You will all be given 1 main race and two minor races to create, evolve, capture, conquer, destroy, and tinker to your hearts desire"-Cagra
"They will help you along your journey to the top and will be what could make or break you, so make sure to choose wisely"-Cagra
"But do remember there will be only one winner those who lose will be wiped from existence devoured by the unending void"-Cagra
If most candidates weren't scared, they were now since they just got proof that this was to the death playing a game they still didn't fully understand.
"Now I understand this is confusing for you but not to worry you will be given a system that comes with the translation chip that was implanted in you that should guide you on the grand path you will walk"-Cagra
'Wait so it's not that everyone speaks English it's just that the chip in my head is translating it...I feel like I should feel violated but I can't lie that seems useful' - Jack's inner monologue
That sentiment was not shared with the group.
"Wait what you've messed with our brains!"
"Oh crap, what did they see!?"
"That's too far man you touched my jelly centre."
"Please calm down. I know it might not be pleasant, but it will come in great need in the games. You have my word"-Cagra
"Now for those watching I truly hope you enjoy our annual game let's hope this will be as interesting as the last and many thanks to the powers that be that let this be possible glory to the evolution games!"-Cagra
The candidates were shocked by how much zeel Cagra spoke as if he was preaching to his god, truly showing them they didn't know the lizard man in front of them.
"Now I'm sure there are many questions you will have, but our loving audience simply can not wait, but dont worry about any questions you have. You can ask your system"-Cagra
"It truly was a pleasure meeting you and I wish you the best to you all I hope to see the new you once the game is over fair well"-Cagra said as he gave a showman's bow.
At once, the candidates started disappearing one at a time, with Jack being the last to be able to look at Cagra, who seemed to sense Jack's stare as they locked eyes for a split second.
Jack wasn't sure, but he could have sworn he saw an almost maniacal smile on Cagras face a truly bone-chilling look before he disappeared from his spot, leaving Cagra in a room full of cameras all looking at him
