Chapter 39

[A/N: Also forgot to mention, next week I will be doing Semester Testing, which means there may be no chapters next week and this will be the last chapter for the week, enjoy!]

Gasping for air, a man with simple glasses awoke suddenly in a bed as he grasped his stomach where he was surprised to find no gun wound…

This man was Yinsen, a man who helped shape one of the greatest figures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to become someone who would sacrifice his life in order to save the universe.

Yinsen who was in a state of mild shock, looked around in confusion as he noticed that he was in some kind of cabin.

Yinsen questioned if he was dead and if this was heaven, but his thoughts were soon disproven as a man wearing simple robes walked into the room.

"Good morning, Ho Yinsen," the unknown man greeted Yinsen.

"Who are you?" Yinsen asked the unknown man.

"Me? For now, you can call me Master Kain, and I am the one who saved you and healed you."

"Wait, what about Stark?" Yinsen asked with concern.

"Do not worry, he is fine and escaped and is now heading back to America after being rescued by the US Military."

"Where am I? Why did you save me?" Yinsen asked Kain.

"You are in my Sanctuary, The Garden Of Eden, and for the reason as to why I saved you? I saved you because I feel that you have the talent to become a man that could save countless lives and I felt that it would have been a waste if a great man such as you perished so early."

"How am I even alive? I lost too much blood and there was no way I would have made it out of that cave alive..." Yinsen asked.

"To answer your question, Magic."

Yinsen only replied with a frown and disbelieving look.

Kain couldn't help but chuckle as he summoned a low-level Angel by his side momentarily before desummoning it.

Yinsen's eyes widened in shock from the sudden appearance and disappearance of the angel and quickly looked around the room for any signs of advanced technology...but all he saw was a typical room that could be found within a log cabin that just had the bed he lay on and a desk in the corner.

"You will not find anything, what I did was just use a 'simple' summoning spell that allowed me to summon forth an Angelic Guard to our world."

"So, Yinsen, would you like to become a Mage in these modern times?" Kain asked Yinsen with a smile.

...

Meanwhile, underneath the SHIELD headquarters, Agent Coulson was noticeably different than before...

As he walked through the labs his steps were calculated and precise as if he is an expert veteran from the battlefield that was prepared to fight at a moment's notice.

Due to the many hours the scientists and the Director have been putting Agent Coulson through he underwent a qualitative change in his experiences, skills, and mentality.

He's used each of the serums available in Battle For The Top which included the Serum of Strength, Serum of Perception, Serum of Vitality, and the Serum of Dexterity.

Coulson could be described as an Elite Agent before, but now?

He's borderline superhuman.

In concern, the Director removed Coulson as the test conductor and assigned someone else to take his position in case that there was some drawback to the game's rewards.

But what no one knew, is that Coulson gained a kind of addiction from playing these games, and continued playing them in his free time.

He enjoyed the thrill of the battle royal game that was Battle For The Top, the horror and mystery of Resident Evil, and the challenge of survival of Ark Survival Evolved.

Once he got home to his apartment, he made sure that there were no listening devices in his apartment before checking for any hidden cameras before finally sitting down at his desk where he logged in and opened the Nexus website.

To Coulson's surprise, an announcement from the website covered a large chunk of the center of the screen, it was a notice of a new game's release!

"Elder Scrolls...Morrowind? What kind of game is this?"

Purchasing the cheap $5 Game, Coulson waited a minute for it to download before launching the game.

Upon launching the game he found myself standing before the screen unable to move.

He noticed that for some of the games the player is transported to a 3d version of the game's main menu while in a few other games the player navigated through the main menu on their personal computer or device.

This particular game seemed to be of the 3d variety.

Suddenly peaceful music rang in Coulson's ears as the Main Menu which was in the form of an old scroll with some kind of strange triangle with a...dragon-like creature backgrounding the title of the game, 'The Elder Scrolls Morrowind'.

There were only two options below the title that Coulson could select.

'Start Game'

'Options'

Upon opening options, Coulson found that he could only adjust the game's language and pain setting, which he decided to crank up to 100%...

Coulson no longer shied away from pain since he has died many 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 times in Battle For The Top with varying Pain Settings that went from 50% up to 100%.

Most would start developing mental problems if they had too high of Pain Settings and most couldn't even adjust the pain setting higher than a preset pain limit but from what Coulson has heard a few, including himself, can completely scale their pain settings to the minimum and maximum value whenever they wish and without any problems.

The only other player that Coulson found that could do this as well, was a man with the username 'Master Khan', but the man let Coulson call him by a few other nicknames, The Warrior-King, or simply Wenwu.

Coulson played a few matches with this man and learned a few disturbing things about him.

For one, he always played with the max amount of pain possible.

He was also an expert with any kind of weapon given to him and killed without hesitation like a veteran soldier.

And the worst of all was that the man seemed to be killing for the fun of it and took great pleasure in seeing his enemies falling before him.

Shaking his head from his distracting thoughts, Coulson focused back on the game and selected 'New Game'.
