4 Love Is A Game

He stood with eager eyes as he waited for her to talk. Since she had met him the only emotion he portrayed was pride and courage but right now she could see that he might be their boss but just like them he was vulnerable sometimes.

She took the last sip of wine from the glass and finally emptied it before telling him what the men said.

After Arianna told him what the men said, Nathan could not understand how he felt, he thought that it was going to be easy for him to get into the business but maybe he was wrong. Rejection did not sit well with him. He wasn't sure of his feelings but he was sure of one thing. He needed a drink.

Arianna had no choice but to follow him to a bar where he ordered lots of drinks and started to drink, it was surprising that no matter how much he drank he remained calm it was like he was immune to the powers of alcohol, if she was the one drinking the way he was, she would have been hella tipsy by now.

They began to talk about random things then suddenly, mistakenly, Arianna made a comment about his girlfriend.

"What makes you think I have a girlfriend?" Nathan asked with a weird look on his face that it might have been a result of all the drinks.

"Nothing, you just look like someone who wouldn't have a problem finding a girlfriend" she looked at him and admired his handsome features but stopped herself by saying he was her boss.

Nathan smiled cockily at her response, it was true, finding a girlfriend wasn't hard for him. Sometimes the problem was keeping the girls away.

"That's true but right now I'm single. What about you? Arianna are you in a relationship?"

The question made Arianna think about her ex Vince who had broken up with her in the worst way possible. He was yet to pick up her call or return them. The little smile that was on her face slowly disappeared creating a frown on her face.

"I'm currently not in a relationship. We ended thin... Well, he ended things recently" she said trying her best not to sound too affected.

"Mind if I ask what happened?"

For some reason, she didn't find it hard to talk to him about it.

"Well we planned to go for a couples weekend getaway that I single-handedly paid for but he didn't show up and he hasn't picked my call since"

Nathan shook his head as he processed her words.

"Woah tell me you at least went on the trip and enjoyed yourself without him"

"Well… he was the one with the tickets" remembering this always made her feel dumb.

"Geez, how dumb could you possibly be?" Nathan said not hiding the fact that he thought she was stupid.

"Excuse me"

"You probably one of those girls who are suckers for love"

"What do you mean?"

"Let me ask you a question. In the relationship did you always call him even when he wasn't calling you?"

"Yes, but isn't that a normal thing?"

"Did you always forgive him even when he didn't apologize?"

"Yes but forgiveness is important in every relationship"

"Sure it is, now the last question: did you clean his house, do his laundry and cook him meals?"

At this point, Arianna felt stupid. " Yes," she replied in a low voice.

"Don't feel bad, it's all because you don't know how to play the game of love"

"Love isn't a game"

"It is a game and the sooner you realize that the better, you're never going to get a guy to fall in love with you if you continue to act the way you are"

"I know you are my boss and I'm supposed to agree with whatever you say but I can't agree with this. Love isn't a game and I can make any guy fall in love with me just the way I am"

"Okay then prove it"

"Prove it? how?"

"Make me fall in love with you"

he slurred the words before closing his eyes and either passing out or falling asleep, Arianna couldn't tell which just happened as he looked so peaceful and didn't look drunk. Luckily his driver was still in his car waiting for him, all Arianna had to do was to call his driver using his phone to come to pick him up from inside the bar.

Arianna hailed a taxi right after Mr. Miller's driver drove off, it was late but she had to go back to the office to pick up her car before driving off to her house.

As Arianna drove to her house she had two things on her mind. The first was that she had ridden in Mr. Miller's car on the way to the party, and his car was a Lamborghini Veneno, she could cross it off her bucket list to ride in a fancy car.

The second thing on her mind was more serious than the first, it was the conversation she had with her boss about love. She knew deep in her heart that he was wrong about love being a game and she was going to prove to him that she could make a guy fall for her just the way she was and she didn't need to think too much about how to do it. He had already told her the best way she could do it.

That night Arianna slept with a creepy smile on her face, she had a plan in mind and all she knew was that she was going to make Nathan Miller fall in love with her.
