POV switch: An otaku's reality

After I finished the character design like event, a thought entered my mind which may have been picked up by the ROB in front of me.

This may be late, but I later realized that we never had an actual conversation at all this time.

Because I think I instinctively knew what ROB is talking about without talking and ROB was reading(?) what was on my mind all along. Like, we're communicating like NTs?

Enough of that, after conveying what I want to request to ROB, ROB made a gesture of thinking for a bit(which is pretty much unusual). Then turn to me after a second(which made the thinking pose, look unnecessary), and gave a nod to my request.

Which is: 'since I already had a character creation, why don't I undergo a tutorial?'

It is a pretty much off-tangent thought, since, you know, Demon Slayer isn't even a game or don't even have any game-like traits at all.

But the fact that I am going to experience a game like life from now on thanks to the system cheat, makes me want to experience the whole package.

So after confirming to the ROB that I am now currently satisfied, he made a gesture of sending off, then after a thought, I became aware that I was now in a different place.

In front of me is a man, unremarkable at that, that I think that I will confidently say that I would not even register him even if I saw him or even walked passed him. What's interesting though, is that he don't have nationality traits that can be used as a defining trait.

What's with this completely average-looking person? Not even light novel protagonists will look like this guy. Is this the legendary Mob-kun archetype? The one that looks average but becomes conveniently and impossibly handsome sometimes? I don't see how...

What's with these completely average stats? If his skill were some breathing style that was not even mentioned in the anime I would have even thought that this guy is really a template character that some author never even bothered tweaking the initial stats.

I taunt him first and see how he reacts but he did not took the bait.

So I taunt him more and took a condescending attitude which must have successfully triggered him and gestured me to follow him, most likely to the sword rack as a prelude to a duel or something.

I mean... we can only know who's stronger if we fight right?

By fighting, I think I can get a clue about the tutor. Plus, I think I can defeat him since we have a difference in stats and I got more combat related skills than him.

And if I really did win, I think I won't be needing a tutorial.

The quest don't have a penalty after all.

After choosing a wooden sword from the rack, we returned to the open area of his house and took distance from each other.

After that, the guy took out a coin as a signal and tossed it in the air.

I immediately took the stance for the thunder breathing's first form.

As a believer of the early bird gets the worm and things don't matter as long as they won't hit, I chose thunder breathing of all the styles as it is the breathing the leans towards speed the most, which is what was shown in the anime. Even if thunder breathing don't really have that much flexibility in changing direction, Zenitsu showed that the form not having flexibility don't really matter as the user is the one that can be flexible instead.

As I watch the coin fall to the ground, I gathered as much strength as possible and leaned forwards.

When the coin hit the ground, I burst forward.

As I neared towards him in moments and immediately entered by attack range, I noticed that there is no reaction present to the guy. Was I that fast enough?

But when I stopped in front of him and was about to slash him, I noticed that there was a pause in my attempt to draw the wooden sword.

Then I realized that all energy stored to complete the first form was gone and my body felt numb and disoriented.

What happened? How did I lagged?

Confusion filled my mind as I look for the possible way how did that happen.

But there is also a lingering shock of how did I lose to a person with lower stats than mine.
