The Blue Blur

"Hey Tristan slow down!" A young Jacob chases his friend Tristan as they run along the beach near the oceans waves, "hurry up Jacob you have to be faster than that!" He calls back to him, the sunset shines in the background coloring the sky a golden orange color, the beach is almost empty as the two friends enjoy their last day of summer; "ugh" Jacob gives up and stops to catch his breath he places his hands on his knees and bends down fatigued "you want to play football right, then you have to be faster" Tristan says walking over to Jacob "well not everyone can be as fast as you" Jacob responds Tristan smiles then sits down on the warm sand his feet just Barley touching the water, Jacobs joins him and the two friends stare off into the sun setting over the ocean "we're gonna make it right?" Tristan says, Jacob looks over at him "what do you mean?" "We're going to make it to the big leagues" Jacob smiles and looks back out into the ocean "yea, together." The sound of Jacobs alarm wakes him up six years later, he slowly moves around in his football themed blanket and shuts off the alarm on his night stand "mmm five more minuets" he mumbles as he snuggles back under his sheets. Suddenly Jacobs mom pushes open his door and rushes in "good morning Jacob!" She exclaims "oh god" he says pulling the sheets over his head she grabs the football sitting on the floor and tosses it at him "wake up" "ow!" He exclaims as it hits him directly in the head "it's your first day of freshmen year aren't you excited?" "Not really.." Jacob responds sitting up on his bed "why not you finally get to play for the kanto team you know I've gotten several calls from that school asking you to come" "that's just it all eyes are going to be on me when I get there, I don't like being the center of attention what if I mess up or I'm not as good as they think I am" Jacobs mom stares at him then proceeds to walk over and sit nexts to him on the bed " ja, self doubt is the first step to failure you can't think like that, you've been amazing at football for as long as I can remember this is nothing you will do amazing I just know it" Jacob smiles "thanks mom." Jacob steps out of the shower and wraps the white towel around his waists, he walks over to the mirror and stares at himself, Jacob is African America with long curly hair and brown eyes, he's tall for his age standing at 6 foot 3 and has a large muscular build with six pack abs. He looks at himself for a moment before exiting the shower. Jacob walks down the stairs of his house into the kitchen where his mother, his father, and little sister sit and eat breakfast, he comes down wearing a blue polo shit with Black jeans and high top kicks; "oh look at my boy so handsome" his mother says "you ready for today?" His father asks him "yea" he responds "this is your chance Jacob do your best and give it all you've got" Jacob nods at his father "you got this ja ja!" His little sister says Jacob walks up to his five year old sister and pinches her chubby cheeks "thanks Natalie" he says. Jacob walks along the side walk one hand holding his black bag strap and the other in his pocket as he arrives at the kanto city high school "woah.." he says as he looks up at the high school four stories tall. The entrance is riddle with kids as Jacob approaches, he swallows, as Jacob passes by a few kids catch sight of him and stop mid conversation they point at him and begin to whisper, Jacob can't hear all the words but he catches a few "it's him" "it's that football prodigy" Jacob is embarrassed, he can feel the gazes on him and is thrown off "keep calm Jacob down worry everything will be fine, they're complimenting you right" he enters the school and is shocked at how large the interior is, the hallways painted gold and dark cyan matching the school colors, the dark red lockers stretched across the long hallway, the dozens of back to school banners placed along the walls, Jacob is overwhelmed "so this is high school" he says "excuse me" Jacob hears a voice behind him and turns around, he's surprised to see an older girl, probably a sophomore, standing behind him with a piece of paper in hand, the girl is short compared to Jacob maybe 5'7 with long dark hair, glasses, and small brown freckles on her cheeks "yea what's up" Jacob says "hi I'm Jamie I'm your guide for the first day" she says "my guide?" Jacob says "yea, I'll tell you where your locker is your classes, all that shit" "oh uh, ok" Jacob says "come on, follow me" she says walking away "oh uh, alright." Jacob follows Jamie through the crowded hallways, as the two walk past some of the students recognize Jacob and begin to gossip about him "hey you see that kid over there that's Jacob Jones aka the blue blur, they call him that cause he's crazy fast, i hear in a game in middle school he ran so fast he tore his cleats" "no way" "I'm telling the truth man" Jamie looks over at Jacob, he has his head down trying not to stick out "you're quite popular" Jamie says "uhh yea I played football in middle school" he replies "d-do you like football?" Jacob asks "tch, a sport full of big headed men ramming into each other like barbarians please, no thanks" "oh, I see." The two arrive at Jacobs locker "here's your locker the code is "4,7,2,8" don't forget it" "ok got it" suddenly a girl with long blonde hair, green eyes, and a short skirt walks down the hall, everyone stares at her as she does so and so does Jacob, the girl is named Emilia, she's a sophomore as well and has an intimidating presence. As she walks down the halls she sees Jacob out of the corner of her eye, her eyes widen and she begins walking over to him, Jacob is surprised and braces himself "oh no, what's gonna happen" he thinks "your Jacob Jones right?" She says everyone around the hallway looks over at the two "y-yea" Jacob says slightly stunned "oh my god I like totally love your football highlights!" She's exclaims Jacob is surprised "tch" Jamie rolls her eyes "uhh thanks" Jacob says, he blushes as he scratches the back of his head "so will you be playing for kanto, you definitely should!" She says "uh yea I might" Jacob responds "Emilia!" A voice comes from the crowd, suddenly another sophomore walks up to Jacob the boy is big and has on a varsity jacket his name is Taylor and he played for the Kanto team last year as their star receiver he has sandy blonde hair, brown eyes, and stands at 6 foot 1 "what's going on here?" He says "oh Taylor hey, this is Jacob I was just welcoming him to the school he plays football" she says "is that so, what position you play Jacob?" "Uhh receiver.." Jacob says hesitantly, Taylor grits his teeth but he keeps his cool "hm alright can't wait to see you on the field" he places his arm around Emilia "come on let's go" he side eyes Jacob one more time before they both walk away "take my advice and stay away from those two" Jamie says "what, why?" "Because they're toxic" "what do you mean...?" Jacob asks "I don't know" "here" she's says slamming the paper into Jacobs chest "this is your class schedule and the room numbers good luck and welcome to Kanto" "uh t-thanks" Jacob says as Jamie walks away but she doesn't respond. Jacob walks up to his first period room as the bell rings "first period chemistry huh.." he says as he walks in, Jacobs walks into a fairly hectic room as people rush into the class, he notices a kid sitting in the back corner reading a book, the kid has long black hair dripping over his eyes completely covering them and thick black glasses, as Jacob approaches the boy looks up from his book for a split second before looking back down but as his brain registers what he had just seen he quickly looks up at Jacob again but not displaying any emotions, Jacob catches on and locks eyes with the boy, he doesn't look away, Jacob slowly and awkwardly sits two seats away from him, the boy still looking at him, Jacob feels uncomfortable as he sets up his utensils "geez I knew I'd get a bit of attention but not this much" Jacob thinks to himself, he slowly looks over at the boy and he's looking back down at his book, Jacob turns and looks up front. Finally the final bell rings for 7th period and the kids flood out of the classes Jacob slowly exits the class dead last alright gotta find the gym he thinks he looks around and sees the boy from before standing directly next to him "augh Jesus!" He exclaims stumbling back "sorry you scared me" he says "football try outs are this way, follow me" he says the boys voice low and monotone "what the, how did he know?" Jacob thinks, he blindly follows the boy who leads him to the gym where dozens of guys stand including Taylor and many others all ready to try out for the football team but as Jacob enters the room they all stop and turn their attention to him.
