Leaving

Before leaving the carriage, Xuan Yueji said, "Grandma, I will be back. Please await my glorious return."

Su Guang was weeping the entire time they traveled to the eastern gate, but hearing the words of Xuan Yueji made her cries even louder and pitiful. He could not do anything to cheer her up, but the best option he had left was to inform her of his eventual comeback. It was unknown if she was going to be able to recognize him then, but for now, he only had to make sure she had a will to live.

Sighing internally at the despondent sight of Su Guang, Xuan Yueji exited the carriage. Though he felt no close emotions for her, he still had sympathy for her. Not only did she lose her family, she also had to witness the departure of her only kin left.

Not wanting to think further about the emotional Su Guang, he walked out of the gates in a hurry. Xuan Yueji did not know for how long Chen Shi kept the guards busy, but he knew that he had to leave quickly. Traveling as a lone child was more dangerous in the day than at night time.

Once it became light out, there were prone to be more robberies and bandits that would attack or make a victim of him. Though Xuan Yueji knew that he left the capital with no valuables, his body itself was valuable. Selling him in the slave market could earn the criminals lots of money for his age alone.

As Xuan Yueji ran on the dirt road in a straight line for a long time, the vast emptiness finally had some grassy plains in sight a few trees here and there. He had been running from the gates to now and it only finally occurred to him that he did not take a break for even an hour. The sun was already up high in the sky and he had started when the sun was barely at the horizon.

Even if he was not tired, the little girl must be once they switched. Xuan Yueji knew that on the first day by himself, he needed to find a forest or mountain. These two places may be the most dangerous without an ally, but to him it was the most safest.

Forests had lots of food and mountains held not only food but also shelter. If he was lucky, he could find a cave somewhere to sleep for the night. If he was not, he could also find wood and build a fire to protect himself from the cold.

Not only that, he could also switch out with Bai Shuixian and see how she survives in the environment. If she started to struggle just like the past, he would switch with her immediately. However, based on the previous switch, he was sure that she would learn something.

It was just that he did not know if she was able to understand what was happening with just sight. At the time when he was not in control, he saw that she was only briefly going over the situation and did not go in detail. Not only that, most of the time, she was only repeating what he and Chen Shi spoke about.

It looked like she did not know about the document which he wrote with Chang Xianling or about what he had been doing during the period that Chen Shi was still talking to the emperor. Deducing that Bai Shuixian probably could not see well without control over the body, Xuan Yueji decided that every time he was harvesting food or finding shelter, he would narrate it for her. With this bit of knowledge, maybe she would not die again.

Due to the previous life, Xuan Yueji knew a little geography about where the closest mountain was, so he stopped walking eastward and started heading north. Heading north, he would be crossing the tall grassy plain that had no pathways. When he reached the end of the dirt path, he reached out to feel the grass.

He was feeling the grass to see what type it was and if it was harmful to the skin. In the last life, he had no knowledge of plants, and thus, when he walked through a grassy plain just like this one, it had caused his skin to grow in rashes. It had surprised him so much that he lost control of the body and Bai Shuixian took over to only lose consciousness.

Thankfully, a new alternate personality had appeared and managed to concoct a solution that resolved the rashes. Later on, the alternate had reprimanded him harshly while Bai Shuixian was still unconscious that the tall grasses may look harmless but if you examined it, there were tinny serrated ends on the leaves. It was those leaves that had scratched him because of the ripped clothing he was wearing causing him endless itchiness.

Feeling the grass, Xuan Yueji concluded that though it was a little rough to the touch, it did not have the same serrated ends as the ones in the past life he came across. The most harm that this grass could do to the body was roughen up the skin a little.

Walking through it while using his sleeves to cover his face, Xuan Yueji thought about any other details that he may miss that could contribute to Bai Shuixian killing herself again. When he thought about it, the most stressing thing to her was being isolated. He remembered that she had followed a road for three days without caring about food or thirst.

It was because of this that she had caused injuries to her hands and feet, and ended up laying on that mud puddle. While speeding up, Xuan Yueji decided that he would try to find a village after teaching Bai Shuixian necessary and important survival skills. In the hour that he traveled through the grassy plains, he was making a list of all the things needed to be done.

To Xuan Yueji, teaching Bai Shuixian how to survive was the best way to help her to survive.

Your mass release is only 2 chapters for this week. Why? Because I'm releasing 3 chapters next week Sunday. Why only 3? Because after next week, I'm releasing 4 chapters on Sunday. When you add it up, it's 9 chapters. I know. I'm a lovely author.
