Ethan's boots seemed to shake the floors as he walked towards her ever so slowly. Esme stared at him and felt a sting rise up her face until her eyes welled up and a tear escaped out of the corner of her right eye. In one fluid motion, Ethan lowered himself to her height and wiped it away with his thumb, his head tilted to the side as he assessed her and the tear. Everywhere his gaze fell on her body sent shivers through her being, her skin turning into gooseflesh.

With him so close now, the bond she always kept blocked now seemed to break open from her weak, injured body. Ethan looked calm, but there was a dark, violent temper brewing beneath the surface. "Normally, when mates are reunited, tears of joy are sometimes exchanged.."
