1 Chapter 1

Myrla Bai stood out like a coffee stain on a white dress in her beige t-shirt and burgundy pants sitting in a majestic ballroom filled with the upper echelon of society decked out in glittering gowns and classy suits.

She remained oblivious to the pointed stares and whispers directed towards her as her attention was focused on playing a game on her phone, which was why she wasn't aware when the main guest of the party, Cecily Ho, arrived.

Cecily Ho is an up and coming actress, who has for the first time just landed the actress role in a highly talked-about coming film and this party was held to celebrate her big break. As her fame has being rising slowly, people of different walks of life have come to her party to forge a connection with her.

All the people there were rich and famous, and it showed in the way they dressed, except for Myrla Bai. But of course if one were to look down, they would have realized that adorning her feet were a pair of Le'lilas, a prestigious brand and getting a pair of shoe from them was probably harder than meeting the royalty. Alas, people generally do not look down.

Cecily Ho, who walked into the ballroom ready to bask in flatteries from everyone, was furious when she saw that everyone's attention was on something else and completely lost her head when she found out why.

She sauntered up to stand before Myrla Bai, who still reminded oblivious. Cecily cleared her voice which she later realized was useless as well. Finally, she opened her mouth, "Excuse me," she called haughtily, distaste clear in her eyes.

Myrla looked up and raised her eyebrow at her.

"Do I know you?" Cecily snapped.

"I'm wondering the same thing," Myrla answered nonchalantly.

Cecily felt a vein popping in her forehead, but she forced herself to remain calm for the sake of her image.

"Do you have an invitation?"

Myrla Bai looked around for a bit before pointing to one of the most famous actor, Kai Akamine, and said, "It's with him."

Cecily Ho rolled her eyes. Kai Akamine was well loved both locally and internationally not just because of his acting but also because of his aloof personality. He was known to be friendly and a little bit playful on the set when shooting but he was rarely seen outside of shoots, mingling with anyone.

How could such a person be associated with this woman before her? Cecily looked Myrla up and down with a sneer on her lips.

"What the hell are they doing letting in beggars," she muttered under her breath but Myrla heard it.

"If you don't have an invitation, I'll have to ask you to leave," Cecily said resolutely.

From the bystanders point of view, it looked like Myrla was trespassing.

Amused, Myrla's lips lifted in a small smile. But she had been waiting for an excuse to leave and now had one handed to her.

When she stood up, gasps were heard around the room. The difference from when she was slouching was too great! Even Cecily took a step back.

Myrla was tall, towering over the host and exuded a certain charm that was hard to imitate or ignore. It made all the people whispering entranced.

"Are you sure you want me to leave?" she asked simply.

Cecily scoffed. "It would be good if you left on your own foot, if I have to call in the security, it won't be pretty."

"I'll see you soon then," Myrla said casually as she turned away, slinging her burgundy coat suit over her arm.

"I hope never to see you again," Cecily snapped and grind her teeth together in frustration.

Myrla Bai chuckled jovially as she walked away. There was no malice in it but Cecily felt a cold shiver down her back.

With the "outsider" gone, people flogged to Cecily's side, readily showering her with congratulations and praises. She soon forgot all about Myrla.

On the other side, Kai Akamine, who was surrounded by people gushing about his latest movie, suddenly realized that Myrla was missing. He threw his head this way and that trying to catch a glimpse of her but couldn't.

Kai sighed in his heart, she must have left from boredom.
