1 The beginning

After the death of his parents, his elder sister became his only support pillar.

James sister being a high level taming master, he got to live a blissful life in this world filled with monsters, beasts, demons and spirits.

Here people are born with unique abilities and can tame these monsters and spirits through blood contract. Beat the monster to submission and drop one drop of blood in its mouth and the contracted is completed.

But at 10, when it was his time to test for abilities, they showed it unknown. Although he had ability, he doesn't know what it was. So because of this, he could not form a contract with monsters.

To form a contract, there should be over 70% compatibility in abilities of both tamer and monster. Means if a tamer has fire elemental abilities, he will be most compatible with fire elemental monsters.

In case he tries to contract with monsters having elements with lower compatibility rate like water or ice, he will suffer severe backlash or damage to his soul causing cripple or even death. So his sister didn't allow him to form any contract with the monster.

Even at twelve his abilities were still unknown, so he focused mainly on study related to monster origin and their mutation.

He just wanted to help his sister in any way possible. He gave total focus on the study of mutation and accidentally stumbled upon the ancient or non-mutated animals which existed in the past known as "Dog".

It was a small monster of height ranging from 10inches to 50inches. They look quite adorable and were kept in home as "pet" and can only do simple things like rolling and hand-shaking. It was quite fascinating to see such monster existed in the past and was fully controllable without contract.

Because of his extraordinary talent in the field, he came in contact with high-profile scientist and researchers. He even won many awards and prizes.

And on his 18th birthday, he got a surprise from his sister, a baby beast for signing a contract. It was the female baby of newly discovered species of beast from the new dimension, and his sister was able to get it for him. It was a neutral beast, although it didn't have any special or elemental abilities, it was compatible with anyone.

Vidal signed a contract with the beast happily. It looks like cross bread of hell cat and destruction bear. It was the height of about 12 inches, bulky bear like body, pointy tail, and a tired-looking face with eyes like a cat.

It can easily fit in his two arms to carry around, and it was lazy as sloth. It was even lazy to eat. But it was his first tamed beast after all, so he didn't care too much about such things.

So he called the beast in his mind space, which is like a different space in tamers mind, where tamers can store contracted monsters.

Like always, next day his sister has to leave for her work. And Vidal didn't know when she will be back.

He also got himself ready to get to his research Centre.

It was his first time in the research center with a beast. Like always, he greeted all the seniors and returned to his lab and started his usual tasks by putting kitty on the chair on the table.

Oh yeah, kitty. Originally, people used to give perky names to their pets in the past.

Today, he stayed for late in the lab than usual. It was already past midnight.

… bang…

A loud noise sounded from outside. He ran outside the lab and saw the workers of center running towards the exit.

"What happened?" he asked a running assistant.

"A test subject in lab 2 has broken outside, we should exit the building as fast as possible," said the assistant while running.

Hearing this, he ran inside, grabbed kitty and made his way towards the exits in haste.

The moment he was about to reach the exit, a figure suddenly appeared in front of the exit and blocked his way. He was doomed.

The monster was dripping in a green liquid. It was a werewolf, and on top of it, mutated. It was a humanoid monster with high fighting power and speed.

Seeing the red eyes of the monster, his legs gave in and could not move from the place.

Although he has performed many experiments on such monsters, this time it was different.

Being the first time faced with a monster, his mind was in chaos because of fear. He suddenly remembered kitty, but dropped the idea, realizing it was a neutral and lazy monster.

Both the monster and man were looking at each other in eyes, who was going to make the first move?

The monster was also afraid of the man, because of the pain it has gone through in lab in the hand of humans.

Vidal was getting calmer, as the length of confrontation was increasing. Sensing the emotions of his tamer, kitty shows some activity in his mind space.

'Do you want to come out?' hearing this kitty shows more movement.

At this moment, having no other option, he called kitty out from the space. Seeing the new being appeared out of nowhere, the monster looks startled.

When kitty came out, the eyes of both monsters were locked immediately.

Kitty shows emotions of like waiting for something, but Vidal didn't know what.

And he looking at the werewolf, only one word arose in his mind 'kill'.

The moment he said it, kitty eyes started changing from black to blood red, and whoosh... With a flash she moved towards the werewolf and before the wolf can even react kitty pierced through the werewolf abdomen and created a big gaping hole, about the size of her body.

The werewolf falls on the floor lifeless, and kitty walked toward him lazily with blood all over her fur.

Things happened so fast, Vidal had to take a moment to process what just happened. He gained his composure and grabbed kitty and ran turned towards his lab again.

After cleaning Kitty and returning her to mind space, he made his way out.

Couple of hours later…

People from monster association and local police have already secured the area around the lab.

They asked a bunch of questions about the incident on the research facility. Vidal dodged every question, saying he evacuated with everyone and knows nothing.

After a day of interrogation, he returned home.

Vidal still wanted an answer for himself about the powers of kitty. So he instructed kitty to perform an attack on a doll which was kept on the corner of his room, but she just looked at him in a daze.

Vidal took the notebook and started noting every detail from the meeting of the monster to killing it.

He remembered the feeling of fear and helplessness.

Should I be scared for her to attack or she was just trying to protect him and trigger some hidden abilities? He was not getting anything thinking like this.

Vidal entered his bed and closed his eyes. But the thing that happened in the research facility keeps appearing in his mind. Suddenly he opened his eyes and a perplexed look appeared on his face.

"Could it be?"

He got down from the bed, changed his clothes and took his bike and hit the road.

-Base city, Base continent.

Although it was already about mid-night, the shops were still open and there were activities in the street.

After about an hour, passed mid-night, he reached a tall magnificent building with guards who were master tamers, every one of them.

Vidal made a call and after a few minutes later, a man in late twenties waved at him and the guards let him enter. The man was also a master tamer, Oliver weaver.

Vidal met him during a specimen collection and was an admirer of mutation research. They became friends soon talking about mutation, monster origin, etc. Vidal has a good impression of Oliver.

"So sir researcher, how may I help you?" Oliver asked teasingly.

"I want to enter a dimension alone." Vidal said seriously.

"Sorry I cannot do that, without permission even I cannot enter freely. And you haven't signed a contract yet. So it's a big NO." Oliver declined him.

Vidal called kitty and she appeared in his arm and he gave a look to Oliver saying, "Well I am fully prepared." Oliver started laughing, seeing the monster in his hand, still refused him.

"Can't you even send me to a training dimension, just for few minutes?" Vidal asked again.

Seeing the desperate look of Vidal face, Oliver took a sigh and said, "Ok, but it will be a low level training ground with few monsters. It's the best I can do."

Vidal gave a big thumb up.

The Monster Association, Vidal has come to this building many times, but has never seen the personal dimensions inside the association. Although it was just a child association, it was the most powerful in the base continent.

Oliver took Vidal into the basement of the association. A circular hall and many doors were planted on the wall of the hall.

Oliver opened the door number one. There was a spherical blue color portal making a hum sound. "If you didn't return in 30 minutes, I will ban you from this association forever." Oliver warned.

Vidal nodded and walked into the portal.

After entering the portal, Vidal was standing in a large green field with some trees and bushes here and there.

And he spotted the first beast, a mutated bunny called wind feet bunny known for speed. Its attack power is like normal children. So they are safe and easy target to train speed based abilities.

Vidal summoned kitty and order it to attack the bunny and it again looked at him in a puzzle.

And finally thought of testing his theory for which he has travelled here in the middle of night.

"Kill."

The bunny known for its speed turned into minced meat before it can react because of the high-speed tackle of kitty.

The attack was simple: run and hit, but the power behind it was enormous and emotion was violent.

With his experience in monster research of many years, he can easily conclude: his ability was robbing the beast's fear and intelligence, making them violent and dumb killer.

Vidal returned from the portal after testing one more time. It was only five minutes.

Vidal thanked Oliver and returned home.
