Chapter 2: Little Tao

Seeing the boy's infuriating revolt, the uncle followed the boy, for the first time disregarding his own safety. Even though he didn't want to risk his own safety, his impulses told him he couldn't break his promise to his late sister. Even as a coward, the uncle knew that if he couldn't keep his promise to his beloved sister, then what was the point of going on.

As the man surnamed Lu ran into the cave he was blinded by a shining light, blocking all of his vision, but strangely not causing any pain to his eyes. As he started to regain his vision he realized that the cave was worlds apart from what he imagined, bright as a candle, while as large as a palace.

"Oh, to think someone at your age would still be destined to this realm," mumbled an old man who was in front of the man. He wore white tattered robes that were stained with dirt, his hair and beard disheveled in a way as if he was a prisoner.

Shock coursed through the body of the man surnamed Lu, for even though the old man had been in front of him all along, he still hadn't taken notice of him until he spoke.

"Senior, what's going on. Are you from one of the neighboring villages around here?" asked the man surnamed Lu. "By any chance have you seen two little children pass me here?"

The old man had no semblance of a reaction. He was staring at the direction of the man surnamed Lu, but it was as if he was staring through him, ignoring his existence.

"Boom," suddenly an adorable girl dropped to the ground. She had short messy hair and wore worn-out clothes, but that didn't take away from her rose peach cheeks and shining blue eyes, she would have surely blossomed into a beauty when older.

"Mr. Lu!" the girl squealed with delight. "Is Lu Qing around here, we've really gotta blessing this time around, hehe".

"Wait, little Tao, you haven't seen my nephew?" muttered the man in a squeamish fashion.

"What is this place".

"Hmm, Lu Qing should be around here somewhere, don't worry Mr. Lu he is probably playing a prank," reassured the little girl with a sweet smile plastered all over her face. "As for this place… Have you heard of immortals before?"

"Immortals!?!" said the man surnamed Lu. Of course, he had heard of immortal before, but weren't they just legends? Created by their ancestors to relieve themselves of boredom in gatherings?

"Uh-huh, this place is the inheritance of an immortal called Daoist Mo, I think…" said the little girl. "Well, that's what the weird senior told me when I first came in".

Just as Little Tao was explaining the situation, the old haggard stood up and faced both of them. He put both of his fists together and bowed towards the adult-child pair.

"Congratulations to you young Daoists, although you may not be blessed by the heavens in the matters of cultivation, you are fated with my master and his fortunes along with him," said the old man. Even though his voice was in no way loud, it felt like he was right beside them when he spoke.

The man surnamed Lu was filled to the brim with ecstasy. The fortunes of an immortal, he couldn't even imagine the kind of wealth he just stepped into. That was until he heard what the old man said next.

"Now, the one of you to kill the other will receive the inheritance," remarked the old man, for the first time showing an expression on his face. A devilish grin. A short-sword covered in strange etchings, appearing right before him.

"Y-Y-You are kidding right?" the man surnamed Lu was petrified.

"No."

"Wait, why do we gotta to end each other?"

"Um, cause I said so. You seem a bit slow…."

"Look, LOOK, I don't want da inheritance sir, please just let us go back to our lives. Or give it to her and just let us return, to the safety of our own homes"

"Again, I've already told you what you need to do"

The man surnamed Lu turned little Tao, hoping to comfort her, but what he saw shocked him. There was a look of contemplation on her face, the kid was actually thinking about it!

'How can she even consider it, she is 6 freaking years old, how screwed up can she be to consider this at her age,' he gasped.

The little girl slowly walked towards the sword. As she picks it up, she shows an expression of surprise on her face, shocked by its feather-light weight. She stared at the man she had just called uncle mere moments ago, with a determined face, the face of a predator.
