Chapter 72

When he returned back home, he put the flower on a tabletop near the sofa where he usually sleeps.

He spent the rest of his days fooling around and relaxing at most.

He even forgot his frustration about not being able to share the meal that he cooked himself with the old woman and just swirled around with the pieces of information he had along with some distractions.

And by distractions, he was referring to his recent interaction with the blind man and his relationship with Sinclair.

He let out a sigh with such stressful thoughts.

"I should hurry up and apologize to him," Uriel thought, remembering how he stupidly stomped the mask that Sinclair gave him.

He never even knew what its value was as he got swallowed by his childish frustrations. What was he even taking out onto it anyway?

He couldn't even remember.

After a few hours, Olia Isema returned for dinner.

She put out the newly bought ingredients and cooked delicious foods.

Uriel volunteered to set the table while waiting for the old woman's preparations.

After the meal had been presented, it felt like there was another feast for Uriel as he stared at their seafood dinner including lobsters and shrimps.

Uriel gulped as he drooled over it.

They soon feasted on the food that was prepared and enjoyed it.

"Slow down eating," Olia Isema reminded as she chuckled over the child's enthusiasm in eating.

Uriel asked if there's a special occasion going on, but the old woman denied any of those.

After eating, he was completely stuffed and satisfied.

Instead of collecting up the plates and going to the sink like she usually does, Olia Isema leaned forward nearer towards him.

"Did you have a good dinner?" She asked.

Uriel shyly nodded with a little smile. "The food was really delicious, grandma."

"You'll be sleeping all night, won't you?"

Uriel was struck with confusion and doubt with the question as he glanced at the plates.

Olia Isema chuckled as she observed his slight gesture.

"Don't worry, I didn't put any harmful or sleeping chemicals in the food. I was just curious if you were really comfortable with the sofa as your bed every night. Would you like to use the bedroom upstairs?"

Uriel vehemently shook his head.

Just thinking of staying the whole night in that pungent room wouldn't sit right on him.

He'd rather sleep downstairs at the sofa or even outside in the cold than in that hot, stinky room.

The old woman either didn't mind or she really couldn't smell any of those, but it's completely different for him.

After things had been settled that way, the old woman washed the dishes and went up to sleep.

Uriel went to lie on the sofa too, planning to go to the deep forest again in the middle of the night.

Before then, he waited while his eyes were closed.

Hearing the clock ticking only wakes him up in anticipation until he hears a noise from upstairs.

Uriel was unsure of what it was, so he remained pretending to sleep.

He heard the old woman by her careful footsteps coming down and going out of the house.

After a few seconds settling down, Uriel slowly opened one of his eyes and carefully peeked out from the window.

And there, he saw Olia Isema do something really weird that creeped him out.

She went towards the cabin that was supposed to be off-limits to him and opened its wooden door.

From the position he's in, the boy couldn't see what was inside of the cabin, but he saw that the old woman stayed outside of it.

After opening, she just stared at whatever was inside of it and stayed like that for roughly half an hour.

It might feel like a mere imagination and another useless instinct, but Uriel felt like she was staring at the cabin's inside with contempt and pure anger.

She was emitting the same energy she had after talking to that middle-aged woman last time.

She was derailed and mad about something.

But of course, he thought that there's no way of knowing about all those things, so he just assumed that they were just thoughts he wanted to fabricate.

As the old woman was closing the cabin again, Uriel returned to the sofa and pretended to sleep again.

He heard the old woman coming back in and going back up to the bedroom.

In the end, he wasn't able to go to the deep forest anymore as he was too frightened to move.

And so, he fell asleep amidst pretending to be.
