Chapter 54

One that he completely adores from the very heights of the sky down to the breadths of things he's sure it's too incomprehensible to him then. Uriel was quite a smart kid for his age, though not academically since he's too lazy to do any of his 'boring' homework.

And besides, he didn't like how the teachers were treating them.

In the middle of those random daze, like no other afternoons he had, something special that had turned their lives around.

At that moment, his mind had been frozen, but looking back, special turning point moments of lives appear in the most unexpected, mundane, and ordinary days.

One day, you're just having breakfast at a warm home with a good family like any other child and the next day, you're feasting with some dead people in their century-long occasion like no other.

It's quite unpredictable and uncomfortable when things go out of control and so did on that fateful, ordinary day.

The accident happened as soon as little Uriel's father tried to overtake on the road and crashed into another car.

The other vehicles from behind were fortunately able to discern the situation and stop their forward along with the trailing vehicles.

The collateral had been reduced and the mother instinctively hopped behind to embrace and protect her son.

The hit wasn't enough to have the car explode, so there was a chance of survival. It was swift and dramatic and unfortunate.

When it comes to an accident, you can't blame anyone other than impatience or overtaking or that trip. That's never enough when you're seeking for someone to hopefully take responsibility for the damage and take back the pain that it brought to you.

The next few minutes became quite a blur for little Uriel because things happened as if listening to grown up adults' conversation – it was incomprehensible to him.

The only thing that was on his mind then was the nature he was looking at disheveled with a pool of blood dropping from the top of his head.

Something had hit him and burdened him.

The only thing a child could've done in that situation was to cry, but he didn't.

Almost half an hour later, few other people arrived to take him out, but he had already lost consciousness.

Uriel's mind returned to himself in the present time where he had tripped on a little branch while chasing a glowing puppy among the darkness.

He's on his all fours, bawling out from some inconceivable pain. What was it all about?

What happened afterwards? What was he thinking then?

At what point did his life actually turn out that way? Uriel's chest tightens and everything only gets drenched with darker and darker shades deeper than all the twilights he had ever encountered.

Soon after, like the bunch of people who came to rescue him from the car accident, the azure ghost came to his aid too.

Sinclair was shouting something, probably asking what happened to him or scolding him about not waiting for him at their place.

But at that moment of frustration, it felt like he actually wanted to slaughter someone.

He glared at the ghost with murderous eyes, which stopped Sinclair from saying another word.
