The Attack

Alex and Leo had spent the last few days at the Organization's facility, undergoing more tests and experiments. They had learned more about their power, and how to use it better. They had also met other people with powers, and made some friends. They had started to feel more comfortable and happy. They had started to feel like they belonged.

But their peace was short-lived. One day, as they were walking to the cafeteria, they heard a loud explosion. They saw smoke and fire coming from the main gate. They saw people running and screaming. They saw guards and cameras falling. They saw a group of people wearing black suits and masks, holding guns and devices. They recognized them as the Kinetics.

The Kinetics had found them. They had tracked them down to the facility. They had launched a surprise attack. They had breached the security. They had come for them.

Alex and Leo felt a surge of fear and anger. They thought, "This is bad. We're in danger. They're after us."

They saw Jake running towards them. He was wearing a blue jacket and a red cap. He looked worried and angry. He said, "Alex, Leo, come with me. We need to get out of here. The Kinetics are here. They're looking for you. They want to take you away."

Alex and Leo nodded. They followed Jake. He led them to a back door. He opened it and said, "This way. There's a tunnel that leads to a safe house. We can hide there until the coast is clear."

They entered the door and ran into the tunnel. It was dark and narrow. They saw a light at the end. They ran towards it. They hoped that they could escape.

But they were not so lucky. As they reached the end of the tunnel, they saw another group of Kinetics waiting for them. They had anticipated their move. They had blocked their exit. They had trapped them.

Alex and Leo felt a shock of despair and rage. They thought, "This is worse. We're cornered. They've caught us."

They saw the Kinetics pointing their guns and devices at them. They heard them saying, "There they are. The time-stoppers. The ones we've been looking for. The ones we need. Grab them. Take them to the boss."

Alex and Leo felt a spark of courage and defiance. They thought, "This is not over. We're not helpless. We have our power."

They decided to fight back. They closed their eyes and concentrated. They used their power. Alex stopped time, and Leo slowed it down. They opened their eyes and saw that the Kinetics were all frozen or moving slowly. They saw an opportunity to escape.

They ran past the Kinetics, and towards the safe house. They hoped that they could make it.

But they were not so fast. As they ran, they felt a sudden pain in their heads. They felt a sudden weakness in their bodies. They felt a sudden blood in their noses. They had used their power too much. They had strained their brains too hard. They had reached their limit.

Alex and Leo felt a wave of exhaustion and agony. They thought, "This is the end. We're done. We can't use our power."

They collapsed on the ground, and lost consciousness. They saw nothing but darkness.

They did not see the Kinetics recovering from their power. They did not see them running towards them, and grabbing them. They did not see them putting them in a van, and driving away. They did not see them taking them to their headquarters.

They did not see what awaited them.
