1 Chapter 1- Introduction

WHACK! A rock flew out of nowhere and whacked me on the head suddenly. I turned and there he was. Yesterday I had been challenged by this guy to a fight because of how I dropped food on his "perfect" shoes. He was just a normal human but I knew I couldn't back down regardless.

Sweat was beading on my forehead as I faced him. The dumbass who decided it would be a good idea to pick a fight with me of all people. "Come on Wolf! Just end it already!" A crowd roared in excited bloodlust, surrounding us almost immediately at the sign of a fight, as this was one of the first fights of the year. Fights at this school always were something to be held with a sort of reverence. "You just gonna stand there? Or are you gonna finish this?" The dumbass gave a cocky smirk towards me before he lunged forward with his right fist to punch me. It was almost too easy. With a quick sidestep and a swift jab to the throat, he was rolling in the dirt of the schoolyard only a moment later, unable to breathe.

The crowd roared their applause towards me as I took a long moment to look around. The faces of my peers were all cheering in excitement as they got their first fight of the year done. Eventually, I spotted my partner-in-crime amongst the crowd and grinned from ear to ear.

"Watch out!" The cry of warning from the crowd was unneeded. My elbow flew up to meet the boy's nose who was once on the ground, blood splattering onto my elbow. "I suggest you stay down this time, " I called behind me. Scared, the idiot finally scampered off on his hands and knees. I looked back at my partner and grinned once again as I sauntered over to him.

"Another one in the bag man, " I said to him. "Not funny Garrett. You shouldn't be fighting humans." As stern as ever, he was. "What? He came at me first. It's his fault for trying to pick a fight he couldn't win."

Welcome to my life. Pretty much fighting every day is now a routine for me and today apparently was no exception. "You could have just said you were sorry and backed off, ya know?" "Hawk, you should know I'm not that type of person by now." Hawk was my partner. We had been friends ever since we started coming here and we were a great match. He was more patient and inquisitive while I was more action-oriented and impulsive. Ying to my yang if you will.

"Still. If you didn't hold back your strength that kid might have gotten worse than a broken nose. And it's Laundrey while we aren't training remember? We aren't supposed to use code names outside of training. The only reason you can is that it was your nickname before you even started training so we used it as your codename." He was right. As much as that pained me to admit he was.

Laundrey and I were apart of a special program at this school. One that was the only reason we decided to come here. You see, me and him are what I like to call Mutants. We have special abilities that no one else has that manifested in us when I was born and when Laundrey turned 13.

Obviously, my mutation was that of lycanthropy and regeneration, or the ability to transform between the form of a wolf and the form of a human while having extreme healing capabilities. Not only that, but I have the ability to morph objects' atomic structure and into a different object by using my own energy. It's a difficult process at times but I can manage small objects in a manner of seconds. Sometimes even half of a second. Then there's my... unfortunate circumstance I have. A power is rooted deep inside of me. One that even I can't explain.

This power is what I like to call my Dragon. He's an alternate personality of mine that draws out enormous power from inside me during times of immense stress or trauma. He goes by the name of Aganju and has only come out once in my life. Although I still hear his voice sometimes.

This power though has been the cause of severe memory loss from the ages of 8-13 for me. Between those ages, I barely remember anything.

"We should get going. It's almost time for our training session. We don't want to make The Principal angry, " Hawk said while elbowing me in the side. He was right. Classes were about to start and The Principal was especially hard on our team due to his expectations.

"You go on ahead. I need to stop by my locker first before I go to the training room. I'll meet you there in five minutes." Hawk shrugged as he knew I usually kept a few things inside my locker for training anyways. "Alright. Meet you there then." He turned and walked off into the crowd while I took a deep breath to calm my bloodlust that had built from the violence I had been a part of.

After a few deep breaths, my nerves finally settled. 'Well let's get to it then,' I thought as my feet began to carry me towards the school.
