28 Unexpected Revelation

AYAN'S POV

I lay on the floor as I watched the General tower over me. As he looked down at me with a playful smile on his lips he whispered, " We can make up for that lack of attention tonight."

"No," I whispered back.

He leaned forward as if to kiss me, I placed a hand on his chest to stop him.

"Wait, my Lord," I told him.

"You always used to make the first move before now you're playing hard to get all of a sudden." He said with a smirk.

Clearly, the general thought I was playing some kind of mind games with him in order to seduce him. I was definitely not playing hard to get.

He continued on with his onslaught. I closed my eyes unable to watch what was about to happen. I couldn't bring myself to. This was it. There was nothing that could save me now. I knew I would eventually have to sleep with the General this was it I suppose.

I waited for his lips to connect with mine when suddenly the door to the room opened. "My Lord! " A male voice yelled out.

I opened my eyes and turned my head to see who had entered. It was an estate servant. Then my eyebrows furrowed in confusion, what was he doing in my house?

The General was also looking at the servant who had barged in, his body frozen in the leaned-in position he had been in to kiss me. The expression on his face could only be described as murderous. A vein was literally bulging out from the side of his head. He. Was. Furious.

"You better have a good explanation as to why you've barged in here with no permission to enter whilst I'm busy." He spat out harshly.

The servant jumped in fear and swallowed hard. He then bowed his head low. "I apologize, my Lord. I came in here hastily without considering what you would be doing!"

The general unfroze from his position and picked up his mended robe which lay close by and quickly covered me with it. I wondered why since I was still fully clothed but then I realized my legs were in an awkward position from the way I'd been crawling backward, which left the slits of my dress wide open. My cheeks turned red again, if the servant had come in any later he would have seen more than he bargained for.

The General then turned his attention back to the servant. "Well then out with it!" He demanded.

"Y-yes, sir!" He stammered out. "I-it's Lady Laika she's not feeling well..." he croaked out as if struggling to speak.

"Are you telling me you came all the way here and barged in just to tell me that Laika is sick? As you can see I'm busy with Ayan I can deal with Laika later." He yelled his anger levels increasing.

"N-no, no you don't understand your grace. T-the reason she is sick... Lady Laika is... pregnant."

The General froze instantly. An astounded expression on his face.

I myself was also in disbelief. Laika was pregnant?

"What?" The General asked in disbelief.

"T-the lady says she hasn't been feeling well in the last couple of days and today she was feeling worse than usual so she finally called the physician to examine her. The physician said the symptoms she's suffering from are the result of pregnancy."

The General was quiet for a moment as he processed what he'd just heard. " I'll go see her now," he then said as he stood up.

He then waited for the servant to go but he stayed by the door.

"Get out! " he ordered the servant.

"Yes, my Lord!" he said as he quickly went away.

The General then turned to me. My breathing hitched as I wondered what he was going to do. "Unfortunately, I have to go," he told me.

More like fortunately, you have to go. I thought to myself.

"Have your servants prepare you for bed."

He then took his robe off from my body and put it on covering his exposed torso. He had been quite the gentleman covering me up when the servant came in. I may have even considered it romantic if weren't for the fact that he was leaving me to see another woman.

He placed his hand under my chin. "I will see you soon, okay?"

"Okay," I replied to him. And just like that, he exited the room and I was left all alone.

After a moment I then let out a sigh of relief. Oh, thank god I didn't have to sleep with him. As unexpected as Laika's pregnancy was, it had saved me.

I lay down on the floor for a moment reflecting on what had just happened. What a night. The General had seriously confessed to me. I couldn't believe it. Instead of keeping my distance, I'd drawn him closer to me. I wasn't sure what I'd done to make him feel that way. As for my own feelings for him, I didn't dislike nor like the General. I woke up and suddenly found myself in world. He was my meal ticket and I didn't want to upset or anger him. I would do what I had to appease him.

So Laika was pregnant. Good for her. That meant she was going to be the first wife in the harem to have a child. It wasn't surprising really as she was the wife that had been spending the most time with the General. I suppose Ayan's mother would expect me to take care Laika's pregnancy with those vials she gave me.

Then it hit me...it was also just like the nightmare I'd had where Ayan was beheaded. Laika was the first wife to get pregnant resulting in Ayan poisoning her out of jealousy. So far two things from the dream had been confirmed, was it still a nightmare or something else.

"My lady." I heard Kaylee's voice call out to me and she brought me out of my thoughts like she usually did. I looked to see Yema and Kaylee enter the room and approach me. "My lady, what happened? We saw the general suddenly leave." She asked. The two came to kneel on either side of me from where I was on the floor.

"The servant said he had something urgent to say to the general so we had to let him in."

"The General had something to attend to so he left early," I told them I debated telling them about Laika's pregnancy but then realized it hadn't been confirmed yet so I had to wait before false rumors began to spread among the servants.

"Oh, how disappointing," Kaylee whined. She then hugged herself in excitement as she acted out the action of kissing. "I was so sure you and his grace were about to have a passionate night of copula-"

"Thank you, Kaylee! " I stopped her from finishing her sentence. My goodness, this girl was embarrassing. "Help me prepare for bed alright?"

"Yes, my lady." They both responded and got to work.

The next morning Laika's pregnancy had been confirmed and all on the estate soon knew about it. The General had stayed with Laika the whole night when he went to see her after having been with me. He was helping her with her pregnancy symptoms.

Her pregnancy was still in the early stages and so it would take a few more weeks before her belly would start to swell. As she was still in the early stages she was also in the riskiest part of the pregnancy so she needed to take extra care of herself in order to ensure a healthy pregnancy. That was probably why the General kept Laika by his side for the next few days as well.

He was probably excited because this was his first child after all and wanted to be there to support her. I was glad because I didn't have to see the General for the meantime. However, my presence didn't go unnoticed by him.

I was then informed by an estate servant that my time in the punishment home had been lifted. I was to move back to the house Ayan had initially been assigned amongst the other harem wives' homes. I wasn't surprised by this considering the fact he'd confessed to me.

Despite the fact that this meant I was mostly probably going to have to see the General more often, at the same I was glad I wasn't getting kicked out of the harem. That was the precarious position I had been in before.

My moving back to the other house was done immediately on the same day I had been informed. I was kind of upset because I had already decorated the punishment home and that meant I had redecorate my new house all over again.

And just like that, as if I had never lived in the punishment home all my things had swiftly been moved into my new home. I made sure to hide the poison viles in the pockets of my dress. It felt so strange being back in this large spacious home when I'd gotten so used to the crammed rooms of the punishment home.

One thing I was worried about moving back to the larger harem house was that I was now in the zone of conflict as I was living next to all of the other harem wives. In my punishment house I was able to avoid bumping into them often but it was going to be lot harder now.
