ZARYN'S POV

"General your release is today," the guard informed me as he opened the door to the cell. After nearly a week in these miserable dungeons, I was finally being released.

I walked out of the cell and followed the guard to the exit.

I met with General Muron who was also being released. As we were escorted outside to the palace entrance where carriages were waiting to take us to our estates I noticed multiple guards surrounding the area they were all watching me. Probably here to make sure that we didn't cause any more trouble.

I saw Samira, Laika, Maris, and Ayan standing near the entrance. They were also coming home with me.

My eyes landed on Laika immediately as I was led to the carriage. As soon as we made eye contact she glared at me. The vitriol that was in her eyes was the same as the other day.

I remembered when she came to see me in the cell to tell me she was going to divorce me. I'd never seen her like that before.
