98 Do I love Her Or Not?

AYAN'S POV

I solemnly watched the Emperor walk away thinking about the conversation we'd just had.

I grasped the collar of the jacket he had given me as I bit my lip.  Was he angry with me? From the exhausted manner in which he ended our discussion and said we would discuss it another time, he must have been angry with me.

I picked up the reading book I had put aside when I comforted the Emperor earlier and slowly walked back to my room as worry began to set in. Once I reached my room I sat on my bed still wearing the jacket and clutched it tighter as my thoughts raced in my mind.

What was I thinking accepting his Majesty's proposal like that? I mean he hadn't meant to say it out loud and that's why he quickly tried to take it back. It was a slip of the tongue yet I wrongly assumed he meant it and accepted the offer.
