36 Prefect Galegold

Ginny walked red-faced to the table and sat down next to us but with her back to the Gryffindor table, I think she was too embarrassed to look at her older siblings. And I think she did well, because they were looking at her with such intensity that I don't think she would have put up with much otherwise.

Hmm, maybe it was karma? He saved her from being possessed by a dark lord's soul fragment and in return she joined his house, fair enough.

But clearly that wasn't what happened.

According to her memories, in the original story she should have joined Gryffindor house along with her siblings, but that was no longer the case now. After thinking about it carefully while eating and trying to get to know the new members of his house, Soisen thought he had a rough idea of what happened.

One of the traits of her house is change. Ginny has grown up in a household with little economic power where most things, including clothes, are inherited and she has had to face her six siblings alone for most of her life.

One could imagine the expectations her mother had of her going to Hogwarts.

That would prove to be quite stifling, so perhaps deep inside her, a part that even she didn't know, was screaming at her not to do that and make her own decisions, to change the situation for the better instead of just conforming as the rest of her family seemed to do to her utter frustration. The hat surely saw that and decided to indulge her, even if she herself didn't realize it yet.

Soisen had no problem with Ginny, the girl was tough, quite witty and energetic. Besides, since she was a good friend and neighbor of Luna's, she could accompany her and spend time together away from the intrusion of her older siblings.

The only perhaps annoying part is her current affection for Potter, but given that she would no longer be rescued by the reckless wizard from a thousand-year-old basilisk, it is possible that this affection will end in a mere platonic love of youth.

All remains to be seen.

Speaking of Potter, neither he nor Ron have arrived yet and dinner is almost over.

Perhaps he overreacted by reminding Dobby about Mr. Weasley's flying car?

...

Nah, at most they'll miss the meal.

-Mr. Galegold -Professor McGonagall came over as everyone finished eating and was leaving -I'll have to trouble you and ask you to act as prefect since you are the only senior member of your house who can lead your juniors, I'll hand you the badge later to take on that role officially.

-No problem, teacher. I'm sure the Prefects' toilet should be fantastic," Soisen nodded, he was going to do it anyway, "By the way, if it hasn't been decided who will take over as head of house yet, I would like to suggest Professor Sinistra for the position. I understand she could do a great job, but I don't know what she would think about it.

-Aurora? -Minerva understood that he was referring to the Astronomy teacher- actually, I also think she would be a good candidate. I will raise the possibility with her and she will inform you in case she takes the position," she nodded before saying goodbye and leaving the Great Dining Hall.

Soisen looked at his house group, which consisted of himself, Ginny and Luna along with two other students, whose names were Delphi and Sira.

-Come on, I'll show you where our common room is and some tips you should know about Hogwarts," he explained to them as he walked away and with a wave of his hand invited them to follow him.

The first-year students knew that the school is huge, so they hurried to follow Soisen so as not to get lost.

-My first tip, watch out for the moving stairs. Most people think they move randomly and there are even some that like to make jokes, but the reality is that they all have a constant pattern. You don't have to worry about them moving suddenly and you falling down, there is an enchantment set by one of the founders that acts as a shock absorber for the fall," he explained as they all climbed up a ladder that approached them, "Are we all here? Good," he tapped the railing twice and the ladder climbed straight up to the exit and the library floor.

-Can we control the stairs? -Luna asked.

-No, it's something only I can do," said Soisen as he went downstairs and continued on his way, "If you are afraid of stairs, I will show you some secret passages we have near the common room to travel freely between floors. If you have doubts about your homework, you can easily access the school library, the one in our common room or visit Ravenclaw's as long as you get the riddle of the bronze eagle right at its entrance," he explained while pointing out several pictures and paths, "Since we are still few in the house, we must support each other, so you can also look for me if you have any doubts about where to be somewhere or have not been able to find help with the homework.

He explained the facilities in the common room, leaving them surprised to learn that they have their own quidditch pitch and showed them the scarb statue, how to access their common room and the surroundings.

-What is that egg? -Delphi asked, pointing to the egg in the middle of the room.

-An Occamy egg, when our house gets the first points, it will hatch and grow or shrink depending on our score. It is purely motivational. The number you can see below is the current record I set last year when I won the House Cup.

-My brother said that last year Gryffindor should have won," Ginny commented without realizing it, only understanding what he said after a few seconds.

-Ron? -She asked to confirm that it wasn't Percy and when she saw the redhead nod, she asked her, "You know him better than me, Ginny, do you think he was right? -then he changed his expression and looked at her carefully- Wait, before answering, did he tell you the truth or one of his versions?

-His versions? -Sira asked without understanding.

-It's nothing, I found out last year after facing the troll, that Ron can be... very creative imagination," emphasizing the last words.

Ginny looked aside discreetly, knowing what Soisen was referring to. Fred and George explained to her the truth of what happened at the Burrow with Harry's confirmation and she couldn't help but feel embarrassed at this point as she remembered Ron trying to take some of the credit for something like this by doing nothing more than being present.

-What's that? -Luna pointed as she saw something moving across the floor.

-Oh, right, how could I forget about something like that? -Soisen took advantage of the not at all discreet way to change the subject, "May I introduce Rada, my scarbato.

After finishing the introductions and clearing up any doubts they had, he let them explore the common room at their leisure and then they all went to sleep in their respective dormitories. But not before Soisen reminded them that in the morning they had to wake up so that he could show them around the castle and so they wouldn't get lost during their first classes.

-Ginny, come here for a moment, please," Soisen called to her.

-What's wrong? -The redhead approached calmly, now they had interacted a bit and she wasn't so withdrawn. Added to Soisen's impression of the twins, she already had some familiarity.

-I saw the look on your brothers' faces in the Great Dining Hall and I think I have a slight idea of what might happen next. If during these days you need someone to vent to or just talk to, you can look me up and I'll help you however I can. The same goes for Luna and the others. Here you have my backing whatever happens.
