22 Notes for the summer

Soisen spent several days working on new products to earn money and to his surprise, Hermione decided to join him as a paid assistant. According to her, it was a good way to practice spells and charms while earning some money to buy more books.

Since they both knew the Muggle world, they took some common entertainment items and made their magical version without too much effort. For example, the magical Rubik's cube.

If someone completed the red face they would start to get hot, if it was the yellow face they would get tickled fingers, etc. Only when completing all the faces did the cube turn golden, as if it were a trophy.

Dangerous?

The young wizards played with a frisbee with teeth and chess pieces that killed each other. Some burns and cramps weren't even considered dangerous. What's more, the Weasley twins approached Soisen about supplying them with a few to sell as intermediates.

-Your pranks are great, too," Soisen told them. "Have you thought about opening a joke store after graduation? Let me know if you do, I'll invest in it.

The twins left quite interested. Soisen knew of their future plan, so investing a few galleons early in exchange for a return continued was perfectly acceptable.

Looking at his savings at the castle, he was already very close to being able to buy that basic trunk with undetectable extension he needed and he also obtained the patent for his Buenavista potion. In less than a month, over seventy percent of the students with glasses stopped wearing them after drinking the potion and curing their eyes. It couldn't be helped, the potion was a bit expensive, but since it only had to be taken once in a lifetime, many people were in no hurry and saved slowly.

Although some friends and business associates, like Silvia, received a discount when they showed interest in the potion.

When word got out, any oculist in the magical world would try to strangle Soisen for taking their bread.

It was like the sugar industry, they would do whatever they could to prevent people from knowing about stevia, because it would threaten their profits.

-So you managed to get Norberta to the tower of Hawkerage at night and didn't get caught? -Soisen looked with interest at the duo finishing their homework as they ate in the Great Dining Hall.

-We were careful - Harry didn't want to tell too many people about his invisibility cloak - Filch only managed to give us a scare. Why are you looking at me like that?

-Oh, I just find it odd to see you without your glasses," Soisen downplayed the matter to hide his true thoughts.

The cloak was quite useful and unlike demiguise cloaks, it didn't lose its concealment ability over time. Giving something that good to someone like Harry...let's be honest, he didn't deserve it.

As much as Dumbledore said it was a family heirloom, who knows who James or his ancestors stole it from?

Changing hands again shouldn't be a problem, should it?

Harry shrugged and turned his attention back to the parchment in front of his nose, Professor McGonagall's task for once was quite understandable to him and he wanted to finish it in one go.

Ron stared at the parchment, as if he expected the task to do itself without his intervention. His aimless gaze, the still quill and the unused ink gave Soisen an idea. He took a scroll and wrote a letter.

Two days later.

After finishing the piece of rhubarb pie for breakfast, he was about to get up when his owl dropped a melon-sized package on his desk. If someone were to pick up the box, they would notice that despite its bulk, it was incredibly light. He gave her some cake crumbs and happily left for the common room, where he opened the box and took out its contents.

Pens. More specifically, automatic writing pens. Not only were they tremendously useful for speeding up the completion of homework, but they had other uses that Soisen intended to take advantage of. He set two aside for future tasks and took the rest with him to the library along with a large stack of parchment.

He looked for an unoccupied table, placed several stacks of scrolls with a quill per stack and then looked for books he was interested in reading, but knew he would not have time to study in depth as needed.

Turn happiness into a shield, theory and application of the Patronus.

Creative uses of Lumos and Sonorus, from a mute and colorblind bard.

Intelligent potions, how to distill and convince to be drunk.

Essential Duelist's Handbook, volume 1 of 32.

Study on life, death and non-being.

Solutions for pests, kill them before they eat your pumpkins.

The ways of the Animagus and its possible uses.

Advanced applications of magic without a wand.

Dark Magic, how to contain and destroy it.

...

Once he found the books he was most interested in, he placed one next to each feather and after making sure to cast a silencing spell on the table, he made several hand gestures. The books opened and the quills came to life, flew to examine the page and then began to copy their contents. Each time a scroll was filled, another scroll moved on top of it and the pages of the books turned at the feather's signal.

The magic printer!

Or at least it was a makeshift version, it was nothing as over the top as the printing press in The Prophet, but he could copy a bunch of books simultaneously and then take the notes home with him to peruse over the summer.

She just had to supervise from time to time to keep the pens from loafing, and since there was no noise, the librarian couldn't complain.

She's not even touching the books!

Too bad she only got the idea now, she could have copied many books during the time she had already spent in the library.

-Nagini will also be able to entertain herself a little more," he thought.

The poor girl had been hiding in the girls' dormitory for the whole school year and she was starting to get more than bored. Now to kill time she was exploring the small doors at ground level for scarabs and cats in their Occamy form, which she thought led to different parts of the castle.

As I was checking the feather work, I try to think if there was anything else to keep in mind for this year.

The dragon was born.

Harry will encounter the Dark Lord in the Forbidden Forest, at night, unprotected, separated from his watcher and with the corpse of a unicorn.

Then he'll go down to stop "Snape" from stealing the stone....

Yeah, it seems like there really isn't much else he cares about.

Oh wait, will he be able to get through the fire conundrum without Hermione?

...Meh, I'm sure Dumbledore will pull something out of his sleeve to justify the fire suddenly going out for no obvious reason. Like...ran out of oil?
