Chapter 65

I was in Miss Lisa's basement, heading to the secret library. I came to a halt when I heard a sound from the room behind me, like someone was present in the basement.

I turned and walked slowly to the room. I held the handle of the door and pulled it down gently, trying not to make noise. I recently discovered I can transform only my hand when I want to shaft shift instead of my full body.

It was really cool when I found out, so I tried doing it again. I closed my eyes and transformed only my right hand. The sharp, long nails came out, with hair on the hand.

I used my left hand to open the door. I walked into the room, but nobody was inside. I was surprised when I walked in, but I could still feel the presence of someone inside.

I closed my eyes again to change my eyes into the hybrid's own, in order for me to see who was present with me in the room, but he or she seemed invisible. After I had changed into my hybrid eyes, I turned around looking for where the smell was coming from. I walked in to go and check inside the wardrobe.

I came to a halt in front of the wardrobe. Looking at the handle of the door, I placed my hand on it, but all of a sudden I felt something enter me from behind.

I roared out, removing my hand from the wardrobe door. I fell to the floor recklessly, panting heavily. I was covered up with sweat. Within seconds, I felt something entering my body from behind.

I was groaning in pain trying to get down the passage so Lydia could help me or anyone. I started hearing the faint voice of someone approaching the room, but I couldn’t keep crawling again. I was too weak to move. I started to dazzle, with my eyes gradually closing till they were finally shut.

I opened my eyes to find myself on my bed. I turned to look around me when I saw Lydia sitting down on a chair beside the bed. I wondered how she brought me home from Miss Lisa’s house. She was squeezing out water from a towel into a bowl on a stool.

I felt my forehead was wet. I guess she was using the towel on my head. I tried getting up from the bed because I was feeling okay already. She stopped me instantly.

She said softly, "You should rest a bit before you get out of bed." I listened and laid down back on the bed to get some rest. She stood up with the bowl of water in her right hand, wanting to step out of my room.

I held her left hand. She looked down into my eyes. We were staring at each other. There was a little bit of silence, but I finally broke it with a question, "Can you please stay?" I mumbled, "Okay," she nodded, and sat down back on the chair, placing the bowl on the stool.
