Kingdom Wide Infrastructure Development I

To avoid the greedy green eyes of the merchants and other noble houses, I decided to share the wealth by spending everywhere.

"Politics is the art of compromise"

Politics is all about allocation of the limited resources available to the kingdom. Everyone wanted a share but it was limited. There came the art of compromise.

Concentration of money and piling up on the treasury was not a good thing. The higher mobilization of money means the economic health was good.

Where were the best option to spend money for reducing inflation?

That was infrastructure development. That's not my judgement but wisdom of many from my previous life.

I announced to construct a ten meter wide concrete King's Road. The current King's Road or national highway was just a muddy path.

Yup, I introduced portland cement. Raw materials for cement like limestone, clay, gypsum, etc. were available in plenty in all seven kingdoms.

I constructed cement factories to each kingdom by hiring local workers and local raw materials.

Wow, that did the trick. Almost all the nobles were smiling from ear to ear.

I also bought foods from Reach, Riveran and other kingdoms to supply the factory workers and the construction workers.

Tyrells were happy. Olenna Tyrell became my best friend. If not for her age, she might seduce me to bed.

Human resource management talents were not lacking but most of them were not good in numbers. There was a great need for mass education.

Maesters were teaching only the few young noble sons and daughters. There were not enough maesters to teach everyone.

Besides, education was expensive. But I told them otherwise. Introduction of cheap white papers and ink pens, printing machines, etc. had revolutionized the education landscape of Westeros.

But still the common folk did not have the opportunity to study.

For these reasons, I started construction of Royal Schools and Colleges. Introduction of the cement was the right thing. Construction of schools was quite fast. They were completed in just three to four months.

The curriculum for the royal schools were only the primary or elementary levels. They were taught reading, writing, basic numeracy and moral education.

I collected the folklores and legends of westeros and published pictographic story books for the children or school students to read. Of course, I did not forget my encyclopaedia books about plants, animals, houses of westeros, body parts, etc.

Moral education were most about honor and loyalty.

The progress of highway construction was also good. As I had said before, poor and willing workers were not lacking. I had hired almost everyone in the flea bottom. I paid them in foods and clothes.

The rate of starving people were reducing day by day. It also meant that crime rate was declining.

Road construction would take at least two years. Without the modern machines, manual levelling and construction was not that fast.

Speaking of fastness, Cersei was already pregnant for three months. Yup, she was pregnant in the first month of the marriage.

I also did not forget to research about drought prone or winter prone crops. I had already introduced sweet potatoes in Dorne and the North.

Eddard Stark, the best buddy of Robert and my uncle was very thankful for all things I had done for the North. It includes developing factories, making roads, establishing schools and the introduction of useful tools and crops.

We would able to see great harvest soon. Surplus food might reduce the prices. I was planning to procure the surplus goods as reserve granaries of the throne.

When we talk about North, we can not forget the GREAT WALL.

I did not forget about it. I continue to supply foods, clothes and weapons to the Night Watch. They were very thankful of my support and love. They sent me many ravens bringing their grateful messages.

Speaking of raven, the Three Eyed Raven started to invade my dreams in the following week of my impersonating as King Robert. Maybe he was watching everything I was doing.

You don't feel good when people spy on you.

Well, I just ignored him.

So many to talk about, I forgot to mention about the royal college. Royal College was meant for higher studies. I constructed a large campus in the Crownlands. It had not been finished yet. I was going to teach specialized courses like medicine, agriculture, smithy, navigation, stewardship, etc.

I had already talked to the Conclave to hire maesters. They were happy to keep the college under their influence. Of course, they love the benefits I promised to them.
