12 Chapter-12

Our Christmas holidays were over, and 15 days had passed since our school reopened. It was a regular Monday in school and we were in our Science class. Sister Margaret had just finished the Electromagnetism chapter. "So I'm about to announce the activity for this assessment. We will be doing group presentations. Every group can choose the topic of their own, and they will have to make a working model to explain the concept and also make few charts for content reference. This presentation carries 15 marks and there can be 3-5 members in the group.The presentation will be conducted on next Monday." said Sister Margaret.

We looked at each other as we knew we would be in the same group. "But… I will be making groups." she said. We all got worried. Things just got worse. I was grouped with Katie and Emma. Olivia and Mathilde were grouped with Mathew and Michael. Cami and Charlie were grouped with Alana. "I am not accepting any requests of changing the groups. This is final. Every group will be informing me about their topic by tomorrow." she said. I was petrified. How am I going to manage with these two dumbasses. It was lunch break. "It's ok, you are so sad as if you are told to spend your life with them forever." joked Charlie. "Easy for you to say. You have Cami with you. I'm stuck with these pea brains." I said. "It's fine bro. You'll manage." said Cami.

After school, I met Katie and Emma outside. "What about the topic?" I asked them. "You decide and let us know" said Katie and they walked away. "What do you mean?" I ran to them. "We are in this together. You two will have to contribute." I said angrily. "We are very tired right now. Here's our phone numbers." said Emma and gave me a piece of paper with their numbers written on it. "We can discuss this over the phone today evening." Emma said and they left.

I was so so angry. I wanted to change the group badly. Sister Margaret had already warned us but I wanted to give it a try. I quickly ran to the staff room. "Sister, may I come in?" I asked her. "Yes" she said. I went inside. "Sister please, I can't work with Katie and Emma. Everything is going to be burdened on me. They are not going to contribute anything to this. Please please put me in some other group." I begged. "Well, if they don't contribute they will mess up while presenting on Monday. You three are in a group but every student will get different marks on the basis of your explanation and you know that. You'll meet many people like these in your life. It's a challenge for you to how to get your work done from them. I know you can do this" she said and smiled. "Ok sister" I said and left sadly. At evening I tried calling Katie but she wasn't picking up my call. "Oh god! How am I going to go through this?" I said angrily and banged my hand on my study table hard.
