9 Third time is a charm

"Next time, don't forget to add 'master' to your response.

Do you understand?" Kevin's voice commanded.

"Y-yes, master." Ron responded immediately, afraid to lose any more of his teeth.

Satisfied with Ron's response, Kevin continued.

"I want you to ...

Do you understand?"

Ron nodded, still in pain and fear.

"Yes, master." Kevin then cut off the mental connection with Ron and took the three spatial rings of the guards out from the system inventory.

.

.

He then injected a little bit of mana into each one of them and started checking their contents. It took him around 20 minutes to check every item in the spatial rings.

'It's not too shabby.' Kevin thought.

He found 7 healing potions, 5 mana recovery potions, two first circle fire and water spell booklets, a lot of ration, a few gold coins, swords, armors, and a spear. He stored all the other things except the spear back to his inventory and then swung the spear a few times.

'It's more than enough for my current power.' Kevin thought as he stored the spear inside the inventory.

Kevin initially wanted to look at the new water spell that the guard 'gifted' him but decided to leave it for later. Not having anything else to do, besides waiting for Ron to complete his task, he decided to practice his spells.

In the previous four days, he had somewhat familiarized himself with the waterball and water wall spells. To perform any spell, one had to use the particular incantation of that spell, but with enough practice, one could simply perform that spell without any incantation just by imagining it.

The previous Kevin only had two spells, as they were very costly, but he had given his all while practicing those two spells and at last he was able to cast them without incantation. This helped Kevin a lot when he started practicing those spells.

.

.

Waterball, as the name suggested, was an attack-type spell where the mage would shoot a small sphere of water at high speed. Kevin knew that although it would hurt the target, it was still not strong enough to cause a fatal injury. That was why he initially wanted to somehow convert it into ice, but because of his low talent, he couldn't achieve enough proficiency to do that. So, he gave up on that idea for now and focused on making the waterball as denser as possible while still keeping the speed as fast as possible.

As for the Water wall spell, it would create a wall of water of around 5×5 meters. Kevin was trying to make it smaller to increase its density to maximum. He stopped when he started feeling slightly exhausted, not wanting to tire himself out as he knew Ron was returning after completing his task.

Around 15 minutes later, Ron appeared before Kevin and bowed.

"I have completed your task, master."

Ron had learned that there was no way out for him now, and had decided to accept his fate and act accordingly.

"Very well, now I want you to ..." Kevin then gave Ron a few commands that were necessary for the success of his plan.

.

.

"M-master, are you s-sure?" Ron couldn't understand why Kevin would give him such an order.

"Just do what you are told to do," Kevin spoke coldly.

"Y-yes master," Ron replied while bowing his head even lower than before.

'Hehe, it's time to wake up my lovely yandere,' Kevin thought as he smiled devilishly, moving towards the tents.

Emily was sleeping peacefully on her bed until she heard a growl. Instantly, her eyes opened and she sat up on her bed, summoning her sword from her spatial ring and waited for that sound again. But the only thing she heard was the sound of footsteps. Emily didn't make any sound that could alert the intruder and carefully listened to the footsteps.

.

.

A few moments later, she could hear the sound of footsteps fading away into the distance and decided to go outside to check. But as she was about to get up, she felt a small movement on her left hand. Turning her head to look, she found Kevin sleeping on a chair while his hands tightly held her left hand as if he didn't want to let go.

Emily was taken aback by Kevin's presence as she lay there, staring at him. She couldn't help but remember everything that had happened before she fell asleep.

'I fell asleep in his embrace.' Emily felt a flush creeping up her cheeks as she thought about it, but then she remembered Kevin's words.

'How does he know all those things? I have never shared them with anyone.' Emily was confused, trying to make sense of it all. But the sound of footsteps brought her back to reality, and she focused on trying to free her left hand from Kevin's grip. She pulled and tugged, but it was as if his hands were glued to hers.

.

.

Emily remembered how he had told her that he loved her and how he had gotten angry when she had said that he just wanted her body. Part of her wanted to believe him, that his feelings for her were genuine. But another part of her was skeptical, suspecting that he might be lying, using her for his own gain.

Emily didn't know what to think. Boys her age had confessed to her before, but she could always tell that they were only after her body and the power that came with being the sole heir of the Clayton family. Even though her father didn't love her, due to the absence of any other male heir, all the power of the Clayton family would belong to Emily's future husband. The Clayton family had a tradition of only having one male descendant to prevent internal struggles for power, and since Emily's father didn't remarry after her mother's death, Emily was the only heir.

Unable to think clearly, she decided to put her thoughts on hold for the moment and carefully freed her hand. She gave Kevin one last look before getting up and going outside to check on the intruder. Although it was still night, the moonlight made it possible to see just fine.
