Chapter 25 - Take out the queen

Jian woke up the next day and waited. Today he wanted to be late to school. His wish was to meet his grandmother alone.

His brother Bian was a formidable opponent. To take down the king in chess he needed to strategically move away all the pieces that were protecting him. The most powerful queen was his grandmother.

Bian had already started to act audaciously. it was time to put him in place.

Jian grinned widely, massaging his growling stomach.

He slowly got up and walked up to the kitchen. His grandmother seemed to be taking a nap on the dining area. His grandfather was nowhere to be seen.

He frowned slightly. 'He said he changed his shift? Why is he not here?' he did not have a phone to make a call. Of course, his grandmother would not lend it to him.

'I should ask the neighbors if I can borrow their phone to make a call. It's not normal for him to stay away for the night,' thinking so he continued chopping the vegetables.

Bian cheerfully walked in. "Brother you're making noodle soup again…. it's the third time in a row." Pouting he looked at him reluctantly.

Jian simply smiled. 'Easy for you to say, have you tried cooking,' he roasted him in his heart. "We don't have many ingredients. Only noodles and a few eggs were left. And., I don't have money to buy our groceries," he whispered pretending to be shy.

His lovely brother did not give him a definite answer for that. he simply shrugged and left the kitchen. "I'll have breakfast in school."

Jian smirked widely. at last, he is gone.' He ate a hot bowl of soupy noodles and frowned slightly. 'it still doesn't state the same. He had seen the restaurant boss make this dish so many times but he could not replicate that taste yet. 'it's the broth... tsk we don't have any meat to make it better,'

Sighing he closed the pot.

"you roach! Where is my darling Bian! Did he eat his breakfast?" the older woman came in scratching her chicken coup-like hair.

'She would not even know of a chicken laid its eggs in there. It's that messy.' He smiled subtly. "He said he will have breakfast at school,"

"Why didn't you get up early to cook for him!" she slapped his back.

Jian who anticipated this move swiftly moved out of the way.

because he dodged, her powerful palm strike fell in the hot pot scathing her hand.

"ahhhhh!" she let out a loud scream holding her hand.

"you bastard! It's all your fault!" she ran to the sink and washed her hands.

"Grandma!" Jian ran to her. subtly he switched the cold-water valve to the hot water.

"ahhhh!!! Hey is the water so hot!!! Switch it off!" she screamed pulling her smoking hand out.

he looked at her innocently. "I didn't do anything."

"You! it's all your fault! You intentionally did this!" she screamed pointing a finger at his nose.

Jian smirked. "What if I was?"

For a second, he saw the fat older lady freeze up like a statue with a look of disbelief on her face.

"didn't you hear me? I said what if I was intentionally doing it," he stepped closer picking up the huge cleaver from the side. He gazed at the sharp edge with a smile. "don't have anything to say?"

Grandma gulped, glancing at the cleaver fearfully. "You... how dare you banish a weapon at me. You... I'll make your life a living hell! Just you wait I..."

Before she could run away, Jian slammed her against the walls and placed the cleaver against her thick neck. "You have so much fat here. I might have to chop at it a few times before I could even reach your artery. Tsk how troublesome." He mumbled softly.

The woman started to tremble like a pig. Her fat giggling around.

It was such a hilarious sight that he had missed in his past life.

'I was so kind to you yet you treated me like trash… don't you even feel a bit guilty Grandma? I guess guilt was not something you even feel.' he thought as he grazed the knife edge at her skin.

"It's not that sharp. It will chop into the flesh bluntly making the person bleed too much. Maybe I should sharpen it even more." He whispered peering at her fear-filled eyes.

A subtle scent of urine filled the kitchen.

"Grandma? Did you just pee?" Jian laughed out loud. "Do you finally fear me? Did you not think of this when you were hitting me every day?" he peered at her face curiously.

She did not answer. Instead, her fear-filled eyes were always on his face.

He was able to catch his reflections on it.

His jet-black eyes were glowing a slight shade of green.

'Umm... so that's why you fear me?'

Jian grinned. "I'm not human, you knew that didn't you? only you were smart enough to escape the hypnosis." He moved closer. "Why do you think I was left here? I came here to kill your kind. To destroy everything, you cherish. Including your beloved Bian,"

"n-no... Don't touch my grandson! Please... I beg of you," she fell to her knees weakly. "He did nothing wrong."

"You should have thought about that when you were so happily hitting me every day. Every single one of your so-called punishments will be retaliated against your beloved Bian. I will make his life a living hell… just you watch," he patted her face with the cleaver and moved back. he placed the knife down with a clang. "If my secret got out, I will behead Bian and make his head into a stew and feed you. so, will you?"

She shook her head in a hurry.

"Good, grandma~ I'm heading to school now. I'll be late. Please make sure to make dinner. Oh, I'm immune to poison so don't even try it. it will only make my retaliation against Bian much worse."

he said a white lie in case his grandmother tried to poison him and headed to his room. he picked up an old pair of sunglasses and wore them.

'Today was a bountiful day.'
