Stay's Point of View

"Rose, I love you."

My mouth finally said it as if it has its own life.

Damn. This isn't the right time.

"Anong sabi mo?"

"I-i said--"

"Mahal mo ko?"

Fuck.

Tumawa s'ya. "Mahal din kita. Pero as a friend lang ha?" She pinched my nose.

I pulled out myself from hugging her and went back to sofa. Lara pinched her own nose as she whispered something.

"I smell something fisheh!" She grinned while I glared at her.

Nang mahatid namin si Lara, I pulled out all of my strength to ask her about earlier.

"Faith," I said as I'm focused at driving. I sighed heavily. "Kanino mo ibibigay 'yung regalo ni Lara?"

"Uhm... secret," she answered while looking on the window.

"Psh."

From my peripheral vision, I saw that she glanced at the gift from Lara. "I'll give this to my friend." She sighed. "That friend looks so sad."

I secretly smiled and feel so much flattered.

Damn, Faith is giving me that gift because she knows what's going into my life.

Though I know she'll never feel the same way.

But in the other side, I suddenly thought about my Father.

"Instead of helping us to our business? What the heck are you thinking about? Fuck pilots. You'll just die at a plane crash."

Then there's my mom saying pilots will never win.

"You should be a role model to your little sister! Ayan, nag interior design tuloy."

"You're such a mess."

Sometimes I hate them from not calling me 'their child'. But what would I do? They never acted as my parents.

"God! Kuya, ano bang pumasok sa isip mo at gusto mong magpafly ng airplane?" my lil sister asked.

And now, I'm regretting why did I love her so much.

That turned me to a pilot.

Today, my father is sick.

Anytime, he'll fade in this Earth without doing anything for him.

Kinabukasan...

I immediately finished my projects to fetch Faith from DMU. I joyfully walked outside while humming a song.

As I stopped to the parking lot, I already saw her walking not too far. Lumabas ako ng kotse at sumandal roon.

My smile faded as I saw him with a guy. And he's similar to the guy she's with last week.

I don't like her being with other men. Fuck this jealousy. It made me cornier day by day.

I went to their place and was about to call her name, not until she let out a gift from her bag. It is the gift that Lara gave her yesterday.

I feel my knees got numb. She never noticed me since before.

"A-alam kong hindi ka okay ngayon, kaya gusto ko sanang ibigay 'to para mabawasan 'yang lungkot mo," Faith said as she pulled out the gift to him.

The guy remained silent. So I, with a heavy sigh, cleared my throat and glanced at them.

"Are you done?"

Faith's eyes widened as she noticed me. "W-what?"

She stand straight and looked at him.

"Oh, Samuel?"

He looked at the gift and then to her. He smiled and said, "Can we date?"

Faith seemed so startled.

"Bro, it seems she doesn't want. You're wasting our time," I said and pulled Faith to the car.

I drive as fast as I can. My heart is beating so rapidly, but I have to calm down. I slowed down the speed of my car and sighed.

Faith still seemed so startled.

And I have no words for that.

As the night comes, all I did is to study for the exam. Though Faith is knocking over and over again, I didn't get out from my room. All I did is to study for the nearly exam.

It seems so crazy that this is all about Faith. Cringe.

I suddenly smiled as I saw my drawing. I drew my dream house for us, even a blue print. What a childish Stay.

I spent the three days of weekdays reviewing and fetching Faith. She'd never been get out from my responsibility since before.

I've been always skipping breakfast and dinner, though Faith is giving her best to cook for me. But it's just...

I'm not in the mood to talk to her.

The biggest failure of a man is to destroy his ego.

And she did.

When Saturday came.

Coleen messaged me to hang out out with her. We decided to fetch her in the house. I left the house without a good bye from her.

"So, how's life?" I asked while going to mall.

"It's fine. You know what? My students gave me flowers last Monday." She laughed. "They think it's their chance, but no."

I slightly chuckled. "Yeah, you must be the chick of DMU instead of those students."

"Ah-huh!"

As we get to the mall, we went to her favorite boutique.

"Clothes, again? Don't you like my gift on your birthday?" I said.

I sat to the sofa while my arms are crossed.

Coleen glanced at me. "Syempre nagustuhan ko, but I just want to buy more new dresses. It's my addiction, you know." She winked.

We decided to stop in the book store. And while roaming around, she gave me a paper bag.

"Gift ko, napansin ko kasi marami kang libro sa bahay." She smiled cutely.

I chuckled. "Hey, you don't have to." "I'll read it when I got home, thanks." And glanced at her.

"Okay! Uh, I think we should eat. Where you wanna go?"

I sighed and smiled. "You choose, my treat."

It's an exhaustive day with her. But I enjoyed since this week I've been into studying. I silently opened Faith's room to know what she's doing.

She's sleeping.

I went to my room and slept.

---

Sunday.

I woke up late, but didn't bother to eat breakfast. I finished our group projects and while watching Youtube, Faith knocked on my door.

"Hmm?"

"Can I get in?" she seriously asked.

I sighed and turned off my phone. "Why?"

"Did I do something wrong..." Her voice was a bit low. "Stay... Bakit di mo ko pinapansin?"

She knocked again.

"Stay?"

I was about to stand up when I heard her sing.

"Do you want to build a snowman?

Come on, let's go and play!

I never see you anymore

Come out the door

It's like you've gone away."

I silently chuckled as her voice was so down and depressed.

"Stay naman eh, bakit 'di mo ko sinasagot?" she asked with a heavy sigh. "May sakit ka ba?"

I slowly nodded.

"You hurted me." I smiled bitterly.

I pointed out my chest.

"Here."
