8 Fairy Tail Rising 3

You eyed the back of the lizardman's head for a moment before shrugging and letting your Heat Blade return to your Requip space. "Man, that was a fun fight!" you cheered, sitting down beside the downed reptilian and stretching out your arms.

"What?" he blinked in confusion, not moving his spot, "..Why did you not strike me down human, this is your job is it not? All the other mages clammored on about how it was before they ran away."

"Like I said during our fight, killing strong guys like you is such a waste," you replied, "Besides, if you were dead, I wouldn't be able to fight you again, and that would be a shame considering how much fun I was having."

"Fun..?" the lizardman blinked again, "You enjoy fighting?"

"Yeah, don't you?" you asked, tilting your head to look him in the eye, noting that they were black slits, "You seemed pretty into it when we were fighting, seemed kinda proud as well when you explained how you made your own version the roar."

"..I don't know." he shook his, "I was born to fight. I fought as I was directed to by my creator, and then she abandoned me and my bretheren were killed for her endeavours. And since then, I have just wandered from place to place, only fighting to survive."

"Sounds hard." you said, nodding to yourself as an idea came to mind.

"It is all I know." he shrugged himself.

"How about you come with me then?" you asked bluntly, "Join my guild, lend us your strength, and I promise you won't have to fight for your life against all these mages ever again."

"..What?" he looked at you like you were crazy.

"What's your name?" you ignored the look and asked.

He shook his head in bemusement, "I do not have one." he replied simply.

Well, you'll have to change that first of all, won't you?

"Right then," you nodded and pointed at him, "From now on, your name is Drax Greenscale."

"Drax Greenscale?" he echoed.

"Yeah," you nodded, "Drax cuz you remind me of a dragon, and Greenscale cuz you know you have green scales."

"..It makes as much sense as anything you have said so far I suppose." the newly named Drax replied with a shrug.

Huh, he had a kind of dry sarcasm to him didn't he?

Instead of being insulted, you just continued to smile, "So are you up for it?" you asked, "Join Fairy Tail and help me drag it back up to the spotlight."

"..Fairy Tail?" Drax muttered, before chuckling, surprising you, "Fate works in such mysterious ways, doesn't it?"

"Probably, it should keep its distance though, if it's a god I might just kill it," you laughed, "So, your answer?" you prompted.

Drax sighed, "Very well, I suppose it is better than roaming around and being attacked by other mages every time they see me." he responded, nodding in agreement.

"Perfect!" you clapped him on the back, standing up, "Now I've got another job to finish before I head back, wanna come along?"

"Please don't be so familiar with me," he grunted, standing up and dismissing his swords that were laying on the ground back to his own Requip space, "And I suppose I am, it would save time. What is your other job?"

"There's a peck of WereTiger's travelling around and attacking people whenever they pass by humans," you explained, "Unlike you, they've actually killed people and don't have the intelligence to be reasoned with."

Drax nodded in understand, "Ah yes, the fast beasts, I've come across them a few times myself," he replied, then held out his clawed hand. You raised an eyebrow at him, "I assume you cannot fly. And me flying us both towards your destination would save time would it not?"

You grinned, "Yep," you replied, taking up his offer and turning around to let him grab you by the shoulders, "Let's get going then buddy!"

"...Again, please don't act so familiar with me when we have just met." Drax sighed, grabbing you and taking off into the air with two quick beats of his wings.

You'd heard about the vaunted flying speed of the Exceed when using their inborn Aera magic, but you were actually rather surprised at the sheer speed Drax could fly at.

It took less time to get to your destination then it did for you to actually just leave Magnolia behind when you ventured out earlier. Literally ten minutes at most, to get all the way back to Magnolia and then passed it and over into the forest area, and cover enough distance to sense the beastial magic of the WereTiger's.

Funnily enough, you both sensed another powerful magic user who positively dwarfed the WereTiger's. Actually, whoever it was had more magic than even you!

It was kind of familiar too, but you couldn't quite place it.

"Should we go down?" Drax asked uncertainly as you hovered in the air above where you sensed the mage and the WereTiger's, and one of them just disappeared from your senses, meaning it was most likely dead, "I've never felt a magic power this strong before."

You shrugged, "Magic power isn't everything," you replied, "I've got much more magic than you and you put up a fight against me did you not?"

"..You defeated me and could have killed me without sustaining any true damage except a few bruises to your knuckles." Drax rained on your parade.

"Semantics." you waved him off, "Let's go, I need to take out the tigers before whoever that is does."

Drax sighed, "..I've signed up to join an idiot, such misfortune." he grumbled, but did as you said and began diving down.

Moments later, you both touched down where the fight was taking place, right in between both sets of combatants too at that. You ignored the large, beastial tigers and instead let your eyes land on the mage, even as Drax turned to face the tigers himself.

And just like the magic you felt, the mage herself was very familiar to you. "Yo Kagura!" you greeted with a casual wave of one hand.
