Chapter 3: Failure (3)

Heart thumping, blood pumping Ethan slowly sat on the bean bag as he slowly opened the book that was blinded in such a way that the left side of the pages were melded together. Reading through the instruction of the book once more as he slowly memorized the instructions on the first page only as the rest of the pages were blank.

"In the depths of existence, whispers converge, a tapestry woven by unseen hands. To transcend is to unravel veils that obscure boundless horizons. Seek not the known paths, but tread the threads of the enigmatic. Embrace the fusion of twilight and dawn, where shadows birth revelations. Reading this he was still entranced by this passage even though he had read it numerous times,with the only question on his mind being who could write such a book.

Snapping himself out of his lull he slowly uncorked the potion as he readied himself. "This is it,either I succeed or I die trying" As he slowly gulped down the contents of the potion making sure not to miss a drop.

Making sure not to leave behind any chances for someone else to read the book he used his fire magic to burn it to cinder as the ashes floated across the room.

Sitting cross legged he slowly started criculating his mana that resided in his dantian as he waited for the potion to take effect.

Suddenly Ethan body jerked as he felt a sudden intense heat across his body as he felt it slowly get increasingly unbearable for him.But that was only the start as he then also felt his bones start to creak and move as his organs also started melting.

"Ahhhh"Ethan unleashed a terrible roar of pain as his seven orifices started to bleed,using the last of his of his conscious he summoned an unstable wind blade that looked to be flickering in and out of existence showing how volatile his mana is as he made a cut right on the side where his heart was as he then took his left hand that had the watch equipped and stabbed it into the gap the windblade that cut his chest left as his vision went dark.

"Astirfgullah"Ethan said as suddenly his vision blacked out.

(3rd POV)

If someone had to be watching Ethan right now one would question what was happening as space ruptures were forming next to him,singing was resounding across the cave and the clouds were darkening as lightning rumbled streaking across the sky as if threatening him to not continue.

"This is the place the escapee was last seen at"A being clad in darkness said to eleven other similar individuals.

"Let's go in "Another said that was clad in multi colour lights said when suddenly.

*Booooooooommmmmmmmm*

A black lightning bolt struck the cave wiping away the illusion spell casted.

"hmmmm..."The being clad in darkness said as it suddenly vanished along with the rest of the beings.

Appearing at the end of the cave they noticed alot of broken rubble and things and the only thing intact enough to be recognised was the black charred body of what would appear to be a human.

"Hmmmm....it seems our job is done"The being clad in darkness said to the rest as they all nodded.

"Get rid of it Zephyr ,we can't allow the mortals to see anything"Another being clad in all metal looking very futuristic said as all eleven of them disappeared.

"Haaaa...I'm sorry Ethan for not being able to protect you"The darkness being said now known as Zephyr,it said turning away as it too disappeared with a tiny tear falling to the floor as the entire mountain along with the cave disappeared.
