1 Prologue

Zeus extended his arms in front of him and shut his eyes, gathering the last wisps of his power. A dull humming sound filled the room, shutting out the explosions and screams outside.

The war had taken a massive toll on Zeus and his two brothers. Kronos armies had virtually wiped out almost all the gods, Poseidon and Hades included. He was the last one left, and his strength was failing him.

Bitter thoughts rushed through Zeus' mind, but he silenced them immediately. As the King and last of the gods, he had to pull something from his arsenal to prevent Kronos reign over the world. But Zeus wasn't sure he had anything left.

All this power, he thought, clenching his teeth. What a worthless king I am.

Of course, the rise of his father and the war could have all been prevented if he wasn't an arrogant ruler, but the damage was already done.

If Poseidon and Hades were by my side..., Zeus forced back tears.

For millennia all they did was fight amongst each other. Now that they were gone, Zeus felt more alone than ever. At least they wouldn't see Zeus fail. They'd never let him live it down.

Swallowing his sadness, Zeus' eyes snapped open as the room door blew open. Hatred clouded his eyes as Kronos stepped into the Olympian throne room, his tunic and scythe covered in the golden blood, ichor, of gods.

"How the mighty have fallen," Kronos rumbled, a large smile on his face. He swept his eyes around the throne room, savoring his imminent victory. "I think I will remodel my throne room on mount Othrys just like this one."

Zeus grunted. "If you're alive to see it."

Kronos turned back to Zeus. "Bold words from you boy," Kronos spat. "The age of gods and heroes is dead. I shall return this word back to the Golden Age!"

Kronos lifted his scythe, preparing to strike the ground. "And you, Zeus, shall watch from my depths as everything you've fought crumbles."

Before Kronos could strike the ground, the air became dangerously ionized. Kronos winced and stumbled back, the air around him boiling.

"Impossible," he growled, dropping his scythe as he dropped to the ground in pain. "You shouldn't have any strength left."

Grinning, Zeus squeezed his two outstretched palms. In the middle, electricity sparked rapidly and solidified to form a six-foot spear coated in raw electricity.

"With the last embers of my powers," Zeus roared, the temperature spiking suddenly. "I will ensure the safety and peace of the next age!"

Kronos opened his mouth to yell, but he was already gone. So was the throne room. And the palace. And the entire mount Olympus.

All gone in an explosion that shook the world to its core.
