Chapter-16: Recruitment Week pt-2
After bidding farewell to Suzune, Erik walked towards the other end of the hall, various stalls could be seen placed neatly along the way, students gathering at different stalls to see what they had to offer.
Overall the atmosphere was lively, the amount of work put into the planning of the event did indeed seemed to be playing off.
"Erik-san!..."
Erik heard a soft voice addressing him, even though the voice was low and soft, he could still hear it clearly due to his enhanced senses, he turned towards the source of the voice and small a beautiful figure emerge from the pack of the students.
Mayumi waved her hand towards Erik while walking towards him, the students around her were unknowingly blocking her figure due to her height, leaving her with no other choice but to raise her hand and wave.
"Erik-san! You are finally here! We planned to meet here, you forgot!?"
Mayumi placed her hand over her waist before looking towards Erik with narrowed eyes and slight pout.
'The Seagusa princess is such a character.....'
Unknowing, his mouth curved up into a slight smile as he looked at the elven beauty in front of him.
Her cute round mouth, big crimson eyes, smooth long hair and petite body in conjunction with the perfectly tailored high-school dress, magnified her beauty.
"Of course, I haven't forgotten about our talk. I did come here on time didn't I?"
Talking out his pocket-watch, he clicked open the cover as he watched the time with a slight smile.
"We have plenty of time, Mayumi-san not to mention I have a beautiful lady such as yourself accompanying me...."
"Okay okay! Le-Let's g-go already!!
Mayumi quickly switched the subject to avoid embarrassing herself, the teasing intent within Erik's tone was noticeable to her. She together with Mari used to pull lots of pranks and tease others when they were in the middle-school but Erik seemed to be even more formidable.
Erik only ever teased Mayumi due to her trying to pull a prank on him, Mayumi was immune to most of the flowery words due to her background but he is somehow able to nullify her immunity.
Maybe since he mostly has his calming and polite personality that makes his playful nature rare and effect.
"Where's Mari-san by the way? She was supposed to here along with us?"
Mari was one of the Public Morals Committee Enforcers who had finished their shift and could now enjoy the stalls like others.
The three of them were supposed to meet near the end stalls from where they would head towards the inner hall to watch Kendo Club and Kenjutsu Club demonstrate their abilities.
Mayumi and Erik, both of them were already at the designated location whereas Mari was nowhere to be seen.
"She must be somewhere around here, maybe we should check the stalls, Mari sometimes gets distracted."
"Hmm...."
Erik and Mayumi started searching for Mari together in the cluster of students around the various stalls. For Erik, it actually wasn't hard to find Mari with the help of his [Hollow's Eyes] but he didn't see any point in using it just to search for a person.
Mayumi was walking in front of Erik, quickly looking through the stalls while Erik was observing all that the stalls had to offer in detail.
Walking forward Mayumi found two Public Morals Committee Enforcers who were in the same shift as Mari, thinking that they would probably know about her friend's whereabouts, Mayumi moved towards the two enforcers who were standing real close to each other.
"Shugo-san! Shu-chan!, have you two seen Mari?...."
Mayumi softly called out the two enforcers who turned around at the same, still as close to each other as before. Seeing a familiar face calling out to them, they stopped moving and waited for Mayumi to reach them.
"Have you both seen Mari!? She was supposed to be here 15-minutes ago!..."
"We have indeed seen Mari-san!...."
"Oh! That's great!! Where is she!?"
"Right here!...."
Saying so both of the two Enforcers separates from each other revealing a third figure hiding behind them.
"Rwaaarr...!!"
The figure jumped towards Mayumi and made an incomprehensible noise, the figure wore the same school dress as the fellow students and also had the "Red-band" of the Public Morals Committee over the arm.
A red-oni Mask ( 👺 ) was worn by the figure in order to scare the shit out of the target. Which, unfortunately, in this case, was Mayumi. The mask was incredibly life-live and detailed thus improving the chance to inflict a "critical hit" on the target.
"Whhaaaa....!!!"
Due to being subjected to such fear, Mayumi immediately moved backwards, in order to get away from the unholy existence in front of her, she screamed because of the horrifying mask being so close to her face.
The sudden momentum she generated wasn't something her small frame could control, as a result, she misplaced her step and lost balance, the inertia of her body continued to move her body backwards as she felt herself falling.
Fortunately for her, Erik wasn't much away from her position and immediately moved behind her in order to catch her body before it could touch the ground.

Mayumi's back impacted something hard yet soft, her body was held by her arms while her head lay comfortably on a firm chest, she could feel the smooth texture of gloves over her skin, the calm and rhythmic breath tickling down her ear.
Mayumi knew that "someone" had stopped her fall and had caught her before she could fall. The gloves holding her arms were enough for Mayumi to figure out the identity of the presence who caught her.
She looked up, which wasn't really a wise move considering that she was lost after seeing what she saw.
Beautiful chartreuse phosphorescent eyes, staring right into her own crimson eyes, a few strands of hair from the two braids of Erik's waist long hair gently settled over Mayumi's face while the rest of it flew around her face.
She found herself staring right into those chartreuse phosphorescent eyes, unable to break contact. The time around her seemed to have slowed down, each moment was passing very slowly within her perception as she found herself lost into those beautiful eyes.
Erik let goes of Mayumi's right arm before raising it up to her head and removed the strands of hair from her face using one of his fingers, clothed in glove.
He gently lifts her up, making sure that she wasn't hurt by the sudden impact, he let go of her arms after making sure that she had regained her balance.
"You alright Mayumi-san?..."
"Huh..? Ah! Yesss....! I-I a-am fi-fine E-Erik-san! T-Thanks for h-helping m-me!..."
Mayumi neck and ears had turned crimson red, she just realized that she had been staring straight into Erik's eyes for a least a few minutes and other students would have also noticed her actions.
Just as she was about to start asking a million questions to herself, a voice broke her thought process.
"You don't need to worry about the fall, Mayumi-san, I got you covered...."
"Huh?..."
