2 Stranger's Job Offer

After contacting all the ten companies on the list, she yawned loudly, stretching out her hands and legs. Eight of ten wanted experienced ones. One company said that they would send the details of places on a trip, and she has to remember and exhibit it as if explaining it to the tourists. The other one asked her to attend the interview directly.

Both the interviews were scheduled for the next day, one in the morning and another in the evening. Nina was suddenly made busy.

Rotating in the chair for a minute, she went back to the screen to check if she had any emails. The Inbox showed an unopened mail with twenty pages document attached. Scanning the lengthy document, she recalled the lady on the phone telling that she would send the information about a two-day trip.

Nina scratched her head, scrolling down the pages with a question - 'If this is for two days, how much will be there for a ten days trip?'

She felt as if she was preparing for the highest government position, reading the particulars about a monument. Writing down and remembering the dates, names and features, she unknowingly spent four hours.

With a strain in the neck, she lifted her head from the notebook and stood up. While exercising her neck and fingers, she opened the balcony door in her room. A cool breeze hit her face, which brought a bright smile to her tired face. Breathing the fresh air with closed eyes, Nina enjoyed the moment with a constant beautiful smile.

After five minutes of pleasure, she went back to the system and noticed that she was still on the eighth page. Her burning eyes and exhausted muscles could no longer make her concentrate on that boring stuff.

Deciding to do a warm bath, she stepped into the bathroom to relax her worn-out body. Within twenty minutes, she was out in a lavender tee and black shorts. Sitting in front of the dressing table and blowing her hair, she gazed at the bed through the mirror. Her heavy eyelids sought sleep, which made her rolled onto the bed immediately. Putting an alarm at 8 pm, she immediately slipped to sleep, the next second, her eyes shut.

....

"Why didn't the alarm ring? It's already 8:30," she murmured, looking at the clock opposite her. She moved her hand beside her pillow, in search of her phone.

Her eyes balls came out seeing 'A.M' beside '8:30'. She instantly got off the bed and rushed to push the window curtains. The sun was slightly peeking out from the clouds, bringing out the best climate.

"Mom, Why didn't you wake me up?" she shouted, running towards the kitchen.

"Who didn't? She woke you up twice for dinner, but you scolded her not to disturb." her father yelled at her. Nina's heart skipped a beat, suddenly hearing that powerful voice. Keeping her head down, she went back the same way.

In fifteen minutes, she freshened up and packed all the required papers for the interview. She wanted to try, though she knew that she hadn't read all the twenty pages. Taking her wallet and folder, she ran out of the room, then out of the house. All the way, she didn't even dare to look at her father.

Though she thought that she would be late for the interview, she was on time. The interview ended much early as the interviewer wasn't impressed with her coming unprepared. Walking on the road absent-mindedly, she collided with a man in his late forties, making her resume and certificates drop.

"Sorry, dear" Picking up her resume, "Do you like travelling?"

Nina looked at him with an expression- 'Why do you care?' Respecting the age, she replied politely, "Yes, sir."

"I own a small firm, and our team is searching for a post, where you are supposed to visit a place and document the information. Since your resume says that writing is one of your interests, you can try my company. If interested, contact this person, and my name is James Cook." the stranger told, giving her a visiting card.

Nina smiled as she took the card, although confused why a stranger was suddenly offering her a job. Nevertheless, she wasn't bothered as getting a travelling job was her priority.

As he walked away, she dialed the number on the card, "Hi, this is Nina Brown. Mr. James Cook has given me your card to contact about the job post...."

Before she could complete the sentence, the lady on the other side interrupted, "Mr. Cook! You can join the position that you were talking about immediately. Regarding the details about salary and work, kindly visit the office. The address is present in the card Mr. Cook has given you."

Nina was shocked, confused and in dilemma, listening to her words. She was out of words in dismay, "Okay. Thank You." she fumbled.

Cutting the call, she looked at the address and reached the office. The building appeared a little old and was located on the outskirts of the city.

Entering the office, she went to the receptionist, "I am here to meet Emily Baker. My Name is Nina Brown."

"Nina!... I am Emily. Welcome! I will introduce you to the staff, and they will let you know about the salary, work and agreement." Nina was awestruck to witness things going in fast forward manner.

"Follow me!"

Nina followed her to a room, and she introduced the man sitting as the 'Company's Human Resource Manager'.

"You must be Nina Brown. right?"

"Yes, How do you know?" she asked in a surprised tone.

"Mr. Cook informed about you," he answered with an expressionless face. "Your task in this position is to visit the specified place and write a document about the people, flora, fauna, culture, traditions and tourist spots. You can take a cameraman with you to shoot and take pictures of the location or else you can manage yourself. The time allocated for each trip will be based on the area of the place. The company bears the cost of all your necessities. You are not supposed to leave the company until the task you are working on is accomplished. Any doubts? If no, sign the contract."

Everything seemed perfect, but the company appeared a little odd. The location, building and recruitment process were quite different. Mr. Cook, whoever he might be, was the weirdest. He even informed the Resource Manger before as if knowing that I would be joining.
