16 Cultivation Realm

The ancestral hall of the Luo Mountain Sword Sect felt extremely deserted. There are many death memorial tablets made of wood. Everything was arranged according to the order of generations of ancestors and important people in the history of this sect.

Xue Ji studied the memorial tablets for a while, then found Feng Lian's memorial tablet at the very top. The size is bigger than other tablets.

She sighed, then stretched out her hand to Yun Mingyue. As if understanding, the woman immediately handed her three sticks of incense and a lighter.

Xue Ji burned the incense sticks and put them in their place. Feelings got a little complicated. She didn't expect the boy who had accepted her teachings in the past, was now dead.

"Feng Lian, Feng Lian…. Did you manage to get your revenge? Did you kill those who dumped you? What punishment did you give them?" Xue Ji asked attentively despite knowing that her question would never get an answer.

In the end, every life has a death. She didn't feel too surprised or sad. In the past, she had encountered more deaths of those closest to her. It's just that Feng Lian's death is quite unfortunate.

Finally, she sighed. Her expression turned even more stern. "You naughty brat! You haven't told me anything yet but why are you dead? You should at least thank me first." She spoke like an old woman scolding her grandson.

Yun Mingyue who was standing at the back couldn't help but sigh. Even though Xue Ji's voice sounded loud, she didn't look like a very angry person. Yun Mingyue felt a hint of disappointment tucked into her sentence.

No one knew how deep Feng Lian's relationship with Xue Ji was. However, Yun Mingyue was starting to guess. Maybe it's the teacher-student relationship that is quite deep. She sighed again and started to walk towards the exit.

"Vice Sect Master Yun." At that moment she heard Xue Ji's voice. She immediately turned her head and saw Xue Ji who was looking at her seriously.

"Is there anything else you need?" Yun Mingyue asked.

Xue Ji stepped closer. Her expression seemed calmer. "I will start cultivating. Take me to see the sect's cultivation techniques."

If it was someone else, Yun Mingyue would not have allowed it. However, since this was Xue Ji's request, she did not dare to refuse. So, she nodded. "Please follow me."

***

The Mountain Luo Sword Sect had one building that was heavily guarded. The building is not very big, but the content inside is something important. The building was nothing but a place to store cultivation techniques and martial skills.

Cultivation techniques and martial skills were something different. The cultivation technique is a method to build a foundation in doing cultivation. Cultivation techniques also contain methods for cultivating the spiritual qi in the body. This is what leads a cultivator to level up.

Meanwhile, other martial skills or commonly known as martial techniques are attack or defense techniques that are usually used when fighting. These are usually more diverse and have more types.

Cultivation in this world has several realms and levels. Those realms if ordered from the weakest to the strongest would be the earth realm, the sky realm, the heaven realm, the silver core, the golden core, and the strongest realm was the immortal realm. Each realm is divided into seven levels, levels 1 to 7.

In the past, before Xue Ji was captured for execution by the Gods, her cultivation level was already at the 5th level of the immortal realm. It was only two steps less before she could reach the pinnacle of cultivation. Unfortunately, that bad incident happened which caused her to lose everything.

Xue Ji couldn't completely blame others. If in the past she could have been a little more patient it might not have turned out like this. Unfortunately, she had considerable arrogance to confront those Gods.

Now she had to start all over from scratch. Right now her cultivation level was only at the 1st level of the earth realm. When compared to her original body, the body she was now in could only be called cultivation trash.

Even so, Xue Ji did not feel hopeless. With the knowledge she had, she could definitely catch up. After all, this was still better than just being trapped in an unreal spirit world.

The Mountain Luo Sword Sect possessed dozens of martial skill techniques but unfortunately, the cultivation techniques it possessed were very few. There were only two types, namely the Phoenix Yin technique and the Soaring Dragon Flow technique.

The Phoenix Yin cultivation technique was more suitable for a female body, while the Soaring Dragon Stream cultivation technique could be used by anyone. Of course, the second technique was more popularly used in this sect.

"Young Lady Xue, forgive our small sect. We can only provide these two cultivation techniques," Yun Mingyue said embarrassedly.

"This should be enough," Xue Ji replied as she looked at the two bamboo scrolls that recorded the practice methods of each cultivation technique.

"To be honest I still don't understand one thing." Yun Mingyue spoke in embarrassment.

"What don't you understand?"

"Young Lady, you have already entered the earth realm. That means you already have a cultivation technique practiced. Why are you still looking at these techniques?"

The corners of Xue Ji's lips lifted slightly. Then she said, "I want to change my cultivation technique."

Yun Mingyue, who heard that was immediately shocked. Was this ancestral great master serious with her words?

One should know that cultivation techniques act as a permanent way of life. Once one chooses and practices a cultivation technique, one cannot turn around and change to another cultivation technique. It's like an unspoken law.

In the history of the Three Worlds, no one had ever changed a cultivation technique even if they had only stepped on the 1st level of the earth realm. Why? Because it will only end in self-destruction. The consequence is death.

Of course, Xue Ji knew that. However, she was dissatisfied with the cultivation technique the owner of this body practiced. So, she had already decided to try changing her cultivation technique.

This might be a little bit against, but basically, cultivation is something that goes against nature. So why should she be afraid?

"Young Lady, that… it might not end well. Why do you want to replace it?" Yun Mingyue looked worried.

Xue Ji returned the bamboo scrolls to Yun Mingyue. "Don't worry. I have my own way." She stepped towards the shelves filled with martial skill techniques. Everything is neatly arranged in a bamboo tube.

"I wonder, did Feng Lian abandon any other cultivation techniques?" Xue Ji asked.

Yun Mingyue looked hesitant to answer. Indeed, there was still one more cultivation technique in their possession. However, it was a slightly forbidden technique that even Feng Lian himself had sealed that cultivation technique elsewhere.

"Just say it. I'm not a fool," Xue Ji said coldly.

Yun Mingyue sighed. "Young Lady, our ancestor did indeed leave behind another cultivation technique. However, it's already sealed and we don't know how to break the seal."

Xue Ji immediately smirked. "Take me there. Let me see."
