A Witches Jealousy

________________

POV: 3rd Person

________________

The prince of Thacion sat upon his throne grinding his teeth. The assassin's he had sent to bring back his eloping wife were wiped out. Not only that they had been discovered spectacularly and now the humans would begin pressuring his father for answers.

'WHY WAS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!!!' {Kamatra}

He slammed his fist upon his throne, the sound echoing through the near empty throne room. An attendant who stood behind him stepped forward, offering him a glass of high elven wine.

He picked up the glass and dashed it to the floor, shattering it and allowing the carefully made ambrosia to go to waste. He then stood up from his chair and began to mumble and whisper to himself, his boots crushing glass underfoot.

"That's it!"

He stopped and smiled. He was the commander of the defences on the Thaconian border! He had plenty of weapons of mass destruction under his command. And one of the more powerful one's was a young drake, stolen from it's nest and conditioned to serve him.

"If I can't bring you back I'll simply incinerate your stupid city. UHUHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!"

He laughed till his throat ran dry. His eyes were red and dry, his hair messy and distraught. He would be stripped of his title and likely executed for this. But vengeance would come first.

It ALWAYS came first.

_____________

POV: Astaros

_____________

I smiled as Christine beamed at me, a bright goofy grin on her face.

"ASTAROS!, I thought you wouldn't come back." {Christine}

I opened my arms and she rushed into them as I hugged her.

"And yet I did christine" {Astaros}

*AHEM*

Raven coughed to show her displeasure and then began to glare daggers with her accusatory teal eyes.

"So you plan to deceive my idiot disciple? Like I would let you." {Raven}

I sighed as I heard what she said. Time for the hard part. I lifted Christine, who had taken up residence, on my lap, and placed her on the chair next to me. She looked up to me in confusion as I breathed in before speaking.

"I will not be deceiving your disciple thank you very much and that goes against my moral compass. On that note I have a question for you Christine." {Astaros}

She looked up at me with bright expectant eyes. Man this is gonna hurt like getting hit by truck-kun.

"Can you make mana and healing potions?" {Astaros}

She nodded quickly, her hands coming together as she leaned forward in excitement.

"DO YOU WANT ME TO BE YOUR EXCLUSIVE POTION MAKER!!" {Christine}

My helm darkened considerably as the room went silent.

"While I do want that I cannot help you with the other thing you may be waiting for." {Astaros}

I breathed in.

"Christine, do you…  like me?" {Astaros}

She blushed but never broke eye contact before blurting it out.

"Yes. I do." {Christine}

Her voice was excited but thoughtful. She was truly serious and had thought the question through. I am so sorry.

"But I cannot respond to your feelings. Would you still be able to say you would want to be my contracted witch?" {Astaros}

Time seemed to freeze as the excitement drained from her eyes, peeling back like ocean waves.

"E-eh?" {Christine}

I sighed as I thought through my mistakes. This was my fault completely.

"I'm engaged to my adventuring partner. I'm sorry if I led you on."

The energy in the atmosphere seemed to drop and Christine slumped.

"O-of course you would have someone for yourself, I wasn't thinking this th-through it's my bad." {Christine}

I looked over at Raven who had been quiet for a moment now. And my eyes widened in suprise. She had a massive smile on her face. She was laughing at her disciples misfortune.

"YOU'RE SCUM." {Astaros}

Raven touched the edge of her smile in shock as my pressure came crashing down on everyone. Full of my anger and rage it broke down my internal barrier and spilled out in Christines defence. This was not how one treated a student. The wall creaked and the floor shook. Suddenly it all disappeared as a hand touched my own.

It was Christine with tears in her eyes. She shook her head, her eyes told me I had done enough.

"I-I'm sorry." {Astaros}

Wind whirled around me as the air gathered and covered me. The door burst open as paper and debris was whipped up. It was Kali. She screamed something at me but I didn't hear. I then disappeared heading off.

Only the moon bearing witness to my final acts and my somber tread home.

Kali leaned against the door frame and exhaled.

"What happened in here." {Kali}

I looked at my Master whose face was distorted by guilt and disappointment. She had been jealous of me. And when Astaros noticed it he nearly exploded. Not for himself but me.

I stood up and walked out of the room, heading to the library. I needed to clear my head after what just happened. I had been too late. He already had someone. He-

I stopped as I walked through the edge of the door frame and looked in, something drawing my eyes as I walked to the end of the elderly shelves. Under the light of the moon sat a hat. A large point stood tall towards the ceiling. A leather belt with a gold clasp wrapped around conical mass while a large brim kept it from tipping over. It was the same maroon colour as the longsleeve which I received from Astaros. I picked it up and looked it over. It felt like him. Mana eminaed from it in waves. It was most definitely imbued by him.

I looked back at where I picked it up and noticed a small not. The paper was slightly crumpled though the handwriting wasn't too bad.

'I hope this makes it up to you slightly. It's imbued with every element I could use. It also is raw mana resistant on top of all that. I am truly sorry.'

My hands trembled as I held the paper. I lifted my head to hold back the oncoming tears accumulating behind my eyes.

"You really aren't fair you know that?" {Christine}

In my head I made a resolution as I placed on the hat. I wasn't letting go of you that easily.
