6 Chapter 006: Who Is This Weird Silver-Eyed Boy?

"Pant! Pant! Pant! Pant!"

I grew tired as I ran. It was too difficult to breathe properly with the fear of being killed banging in my head, but I dare not stop or look back.

Why did this have to happen to us? It was supposed to be like any other job. Easy! Even if we got hurt we wouldn't die. Why us? Why now? Why them?

It's just like the time when goblins burned down my village and killed my parents. I was powerless to help. All I could do was run like a coward. All I did was watch as my friends were killed in front of me. I'm weak!!! If the world is full of people like him, I'll die before I find Kelly. Mother Theresa!!! Where are you? I'm scared!

"~Ice needle~"

"Ahhh!" I screamed in pain falling to the ground.

Something sharp and cold pierced me. I was bleeding from my left thigh.

"Come on! You could've run further than that." The man appeared from behind the trees. "I'm disappointed. You should've made this more fun for me before you die."

With tears streaming from my eyes and a panic look on my face, I got up to my feet. I walked away dragging my injured leg, still trying to get away as far as I could. Every step counted!

"Please! Not here. You can't die so soon." I tried to give myself some hope.

"I guess the fun is over then." He sighed disappointedly. "~Come forth, Ice blade~"

"Blegh!" I coughed up blood as the blade pierced through my back and exited my chest.

"See you all in hell, Kid!"

He pulled out the blade and watched as I fell to the ground bleeding, then walked away, leaving me there to die alone. The orb rolled onto the ground right next to me as his ice blade cut my pouch.

"So this is it?" I asked myself. "Is this how I die? Pathetic!"

A pool of blood formed around me and soaked the ground, the orb, my clothes and the plants. As I laid there under the moonlight, time seemed to slow down as if to allow me to say my final good-byes.

"Mother, the kids, Kelly, my friends. I can't go out like this! Please! It can't end like this! Someone! Anyone! Anybody! Help me!".

The trees and blood that surrounded me began to lose their colour and my vision started to go blurry.

"Everything's turning grey. I'm dying now. This is it." I could feel the life leave my body.

"."

"Shelly, why aren't you eating?"  A  female voice spoke.

"Huh! W-where am I?" My face was flat on a table.

"You're home Shelly." A male voice spoke.

"If you don't want your food, can I have it?" A little boy's voice spoke.

When I lifted my head to look at who was speaking. My eyes couldn't believe what I saw. It was Kelly, my little brother.

"If you're Kelly then that means..."

I looked at the other two faceless figures. They were my parents. I looked around, the place was a familiar sight. It was our house!

"I'm... home?" A confused look could be seen on my face.

"Shelly, can I have your food?" Kelly drooled, gazing at my plate.

"Kelly, no! You already ate yours." Mom folded her hands. "Plus, your sister hasn't eaten yet."

"But I'm still hungry." Kelly set his chin on the edge of the table with his face pouting.

"You can have some of mine, Kelly." Dad smiled at Kelly.

"Really!?" Kelly slapped his hand on the table with joy, his face brighter than before.

"Darling!" Mom glared at dad angrily.

"It's fine. He's just eating like me when I was at his age." Dad smiled as he gave away half of his food to Kelly's plate.

"Thanks, Dad!" Kelly began devouring the food.

"You're too soft on him." Mom pointed out.

"I can't help it," Dad laughed heartily.

"Shelly, why aren't you eating?" Mom looked at me with a concerned expression. "I made your favourite."

I looked down at my plate. It was veggie rice and boar meat, my favourite. I picked up my fork and filled it, bringing the food into my mouth and started chewing.

"I love it, mom," I smiled at her.

I started shovelling the rest of the food in my mouth, just as Kelly did. Halfway through eating, my tears fell on the plate.

"What's the matter, Shelly?" Dad got up from his seat worriedly.

"I'm sorry. If only I was stronger I could've saved you both. I got separated from Kelly and I got killed. It's all my fault, I was too weak." I rubbed my eyes to get rid of the tears but they kept flowing.

Both Mom and Dad hugged me.

"Our death isn't your fault Shelly. We could never blame you." Mom kissed me on the head. "Just promise us you'll find your brother."

"B-b-but I'm dead," I admitted to them.

"Shelly, you aren't dead," Dad patted my head. "It's almost time for you to wake up."

The house and everyone slowly began to disappear. "What's happening? Why is everything disappearing?"

"Shelly, there's no time. Just promise us you'll find your brother no matter what." Mom grabbed my hand.

"Shelly, I'm scared," Kelly hugged my arm.

"I'll find you I promise. Wait for me Kel-"

While Shelly was dying, the orb soaked in her blood cracked and a black and white mist-like element leaked into the air, combining to form a humanoid body. Gaining consciousness, it stood around confused by its surroundings but before it could wonder off a faint voice struggled for help.

"Hel.... Help me."

A female body was laying on the ground surrounded by blood. Without ever having to learn anything, it immediately knew that she was in danger. He approached her and placed his palms on her chest, then an aura of magic energy engulfed him. The energy then focused to his palms and changed to black flames which burned at her open wound and overtime it closed but not before he was frightened by her suddenly getting up, causing him to roll backwards.

"I'm... I'm alive!" I felt my body for wounds. "But how? I was bleeding so much. I should be dead."

My voice was caught in the back of my throat and my eyes wide with disbelief. My clothes were still pierced and a scar was where the man stabbed me.

"Hey! I'm talking to you." A child's voice spoke.

I saw a child standing above my head with sheep horns half the length of a pinky, a little spade tip tail, gem-like silver eyes, small sharp canines and naked.

"Eek!" I shrieked out of shock. "Who are you? Pervert!"

"That's a rude way to thank the person who saved your life." He said frowning with his hands on his hips.

"You... saved me?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yes I did. Hehehe!" He smiled.

"You did this?" I asked, bewildered by the boy. "But how?"

"Well I just–." He looked at his hands with confusion, unable to explain what he did. "I don't know, I just did it."

"What do you mean you don't know?" I questioned with suspicious looks. "Was it a pill? Or was it a potion? How expensive was it?"

The boy began rubbing his head, overwhelmed by my bombardment of questions.

"I don't know. It just... happened I think." He replied, shrugging with hands in the air.

"Just happened? Saving someone from near death doesn't 'just happened'." I scrutinized, suspicious of this boy. "Is it a secret? Did you steal a high grade potion? Are you a magician?!"

Just as I spoke those words, I remember my situation.

"Where's the magician?!" I frantically looked around.

"Magician? I didn't sense anyone else." He looked around. "You were the only person here."

"Really? That means he already left... Haaaa, thank the gods!" I got up to my feet but staggered. I felt a little light-headed.

"Careful! You still lost a lot of blood." The boy explained. "Achoo! Achoo!"

"You're gonna catch a cold naked like that." I stated. "Where are your clothes?"

"I don't know." He replied rubbing his nose.

"How do you not know where your clothes are?" I became annoyed at his ignorance "Here, wear this. It'll keep you warm."

I wrapped him in the cloak. It was a little too big for him. Although, it made him look oddly cute.

"Oh, I just realized I haven't heard your name yet."

"Well, how polite of you to ask, young one."

Did this child just call me 'young one'?

"I am the greatest, strongest, smartest, wisest, most handsome, sexiest, most powerful, most cunning, most loved..." he suddenly paused and looked at me confused.

"Who am I again? All I can remember is the word Maou." he scratched his head.

"What's wrong with you? How do you only know your name?" I facepalmed. "You're more forgetful than Charles–."

Just then, I remember something I wish I hadn't. My friends. I started running towards where my friends were.

"Please be alive! Just let this just be a horrible nightmare."

Maou followed after me. "Hey! Where are you going?"

I ran through the forest and arrived back on the road. The carriage and guards were already gone. This was no dream, but a nightmare made into reality.

Maou popped out of the forest behind me. "Wow! Are those people covered in ice?"

The truth was in front of me, I couldn't deny it anymore. They were all dead. The moonlight sparkled off their ice-covered bodies.

I fell to my knees, punching the ground repeatedly and sobbing tears of pain.

"Why?! Why?! Why?! Why?! Why Kalos?! AHH! Why them, Kalos!? They didn't deserve to die like that! AHH! Not like this."

I sat there for quite sometime after that, hugging my legs and setting my face on my knees. The tears had already dried up with only bitterness and hatred lingering

"So, what now?" Maou stood next to me.

"I need to find my brother," I got up to my feet.

"Do you know where he is?"

"No. We got separated as children."

"So how're you gonna find them?"

"To be honest, I don't know." I replied. "But I'll find him, even if that means searching the entire world."

"So you're going on a journey around the world!" Maou eyes sparkled with joy. "Can I come? Please, please, please!"

"What about your family? Shouldn't you return to them?" I asked. "Aren't they worried about you?"

"Family? I don't remember having a family."

"So you don't know your family either. Well what do you know then?"

"I think my name's Maou.... And that's it so far." He replied. "So can I come? Please let me join you."

"I mean, sure. Why not?" I smiled. His eagerness was amusing.

"But before I leave, I have something important to do."
