Back to school

It was a chilly fine morning when Matatizo wake up to head to the new school. He had to wear the uniform he was wearing at Ubwadog primary school. The trouzer was a little thorn at the behinds but the boy deceided to wear the same without any shame. Inside the trouzer was a red cowboy inner wear which could be noticed from a distance as if it was a car indicators. The boy is at the back line with his black polythene bag accompanied by the tall officer's work who was instructed to the take the boy to school. Inside the polythene bag was a seven subject 32 pages uncovered book. The boy walked with all confidence despite the shortcomings.

At exactly 8 o'clock, they were at Chebarus primary ready to sign the visitors' register. At the gate, each and everyone is armed with different fighting equipments. Matatizo is shocked nearly to faint. He was encouraged and took a deep breath. This was a n area with high insecurities hence the boy was also supposed to train as a soldier to successfully stay in the area. Pupils were running up and down with spears, swords, axes pangas and others armed with AK 47 machine ready for anything that could threaten them.

Matatizo was directed to the headteacher's office to face the interview . At the door step, Matatizo was welcomed by the roaring voice of the headteacher. This clearly showed that the headteacher was down to earth. They entered into a short engagement before the interview.

Headteacher: You! Little boy move closer to me.

Matatizo: (slowly while trembling) Yes sir.

Headteacher: why are you not dressed in school uniform?

Matatizo: (while stammering) Am a new student and I have come for interview.

Headteacher: ( pointing at the desk) Sit there and wait for the paper.

He quickly sits down and waits for the interview. It could not take long before the interviewing pannel entered. The boy was given given one A4 plain paper with only three open ended questions. The laughed for a second before handling the questions because the paper contained easy and cheap questions. The boy took only two minutes to a answer a paper that was assigned thirty minutes of time duration. He could wait for long since he was very keen in time management. He stood up and submitted the paper to the interviewing panelists.

Teachers on the other hand were shocked with the courage the boy had in handling and submitting the paper. The paper was marked keenly to identify minute mistakes but to utter surprise, all the answers were correct. The results were handed over to the boy with a soft copy sent to the officer at the other side. Teachers were extremely happy with the results and they could not hesitate to allow the boy into the class.

The boy was sent to the secretary's office to be given school uniform. Upon entering the secretary office it if noticed that all the uniform in stock could not fit the boy. This could not stop the boy from joining others in class. He was given an oversized shirt and a trouzer with unfitting shoes. From a distance, the boy appeared short, fat and round.The boy took this situation as postive and moved towards the school bookshop where he was given books and a women designed handbag. He was thereafter showed the class from a distance and quickly headed towards the class. He went fast but keep not to let the oversized trouzer fall down. He had used polythene bag to tie the trouzer and anytime he could walk the trouzer also moved in opposite directions.

At the classroom door, the teacher is seen having a lesson. The boy moved closer and everyone who saw him laughed loudly because of the dressing code. The dressing code disturbed the entire school because it was funny. The boy entered the class as he was cheered by students and teachers. He did the introduction and was given desk space in the middle row of the class room. The boy is welcomed in class with a question but gives out a correct answer. The boy was ready for anything that could arise in the new school. The boy was noticed easily in school because of the dressing code since it was unique.

During games times, the boy was not left behind because he had something that preoccupied his mind despite academics and that was football. Anytime he could kick the ball everyone cheered him with alot of noice. He attracted everyone in the field since he was in oversized clothes. Games master was impressed with his performance and selected him in the school team as the captain. It became completely difficult for the boy to make mistakes because of his familiarity in the school. The boy gathered many friends at Chebarus primary school due to his funny school attires. He took the shortest time length to fully adapt to the hardship life in the Northern sides.

The could walk to and from school accompanied by his friends. The boy was not left behind in terms of learning security and defense tactics. It took him around one week to fully become an expert in handling war equipments for self defense. Whenever there was an examination, the boy unleashed his best to become the best. Success was his portion at Chebarus primary school. His competitors seemed to weak despite their efforts in academics. The school headteacher, Mr. Spare the rod spoil the child , a name he obtained by the term he used regularly, was impressed with the boy and directly nominated him to be the school captain.

At his place of residence, the worker assigned the boy some roles in the compound. He had to harry going back home to do some roles before he could handle his homework. He was assigned roles like herding, cleaning the compound and fetching water from the nearest seasonal river. At this time the boy could not cause any conflict because he assumed it was an order from the officer. The worker now took the advantage of the boy and even set aside time for relaxing and enjoying his salary earned without struggles.

This being a matter of time, the boy kept on going without giving up and within no time he was done with his K.C.P.E. The results could not take long since there was a new minster for education who was known in fastening everything. On the top of the students who passed with flying colours was Matatizo. This was not only in his school but also in the overall country results. Happiness made his day but as usual back at his home, neighbors were obviously unhappy seeing the boy in the news for the first time. This was like a miracle in the village where nobody had been seen in television news. He was aware that new could only spread through gosip clubs to inform the village over this since there were only two homesteads in the whole of Ubwadog village who owned analog television sets. Talking of analog television, it forced the viewers to be turning aerial tree each and every time in different directions to take the signal. Ubwadog villagers could gather in the two homesteads to watch news once a day during daytime when the sun is overhead. The whole of the village lacked electric power hence depended on solar energy.

The first thing that clicked into the boy was witchcraft but the boy strongly believed in prayers and this did not worry him alot. The boy met the president of the state and the ministers who later offered him a full scholarship to join a national school. At this time, he changed the environment and moved to the central sides where the capital city was located to join form one. Whenever the school was not in session, the boy would remain in school with the soldier until the schools resumed sessions.

Key factors that made the boy not to go home was; distance and the condition back at home. It remained a routine in good performance for Matatizo. He had a big focus in changing the history back at home. Despite good performance in academics, he also showcased his talents at school I football and athletic. In his final K.C.SE. exams history repeated itself. He emerged the best. The boy was awarded ten thousand shillings by the school with a laptop.

Matatizo went home after seven good years of studying. At this time he was a grown up to an extent that villagers could not identify him easily. The boy could not sleep in the same house with his mother since he was a grown up man and culture would not allow that. With the ten thousands awarded to him, he deceided to buy five iron sheets and built a start up flat semipermanent house. He was not afraid of spending the money since the government had agreed to take care of his university education.

During university placement, Matatizo was placed in Blackjack university since he had no one to follow up for him to be placed in international university. Matatizo accepts to join Blackjack university to undertake a bachelor's degree in forensic science. This was his course of interest to help the poor with evidence in different cases.
